  • Do Converters matter?
    Mastering /Reference vs Prosumer/Mid tier vs Introductory tier
    Here we compare the Presonus Quantum HD 8 vs the Motu M4 and Antelope audio Pure 2
    Can You hear the difference over CZcams?
    Is there a difference?
    Please leave a comment and or questions
    This is to help people make a decision on whether its worth the expense between the different tiers
    All testing was done on a Mac Studio M1Max 32GB RAM.
    THIS IS A NON SPONSORED AND UNBIASED VIDEO
    ALL UNITS PURCHASED WITH MY OWN $$$$$
    FURTHER DETAILS not included in the Video
    Pure 2 is made in Sofia, Bulgaria (the EU)
    Motu M4 (The Good Old USA)
    Quantum HD 8 (China)
    HEADPHONE OUTS
    Pure 2 has the most impressive dynamic range, instrument separation ; I dare say accurate and pleasing sound.
    QHD 8 had dynamic range on par with Pure 2 but seemed to lack the same separation and had less bass . It had nice transient and high end however.
    Motu 4 was the bassiest and punchiest but you could clearly tell the dynamic range was the worst.
    Thats all i had time for and no further testing will ensue regarding this matter but feel free to ask questions and leave your thoughts . I tried to gain match everything to the best of my abilty

    Hmm my Presonus qauntum HD 2 is getting
    Input 1.71ms / 82 samples
    Output 3.88ms / 186 sample
    All with the same block size of 16 samples and sample rate of 48khz
    Yeah your output is lower than mine but I mostly care more for the input.
    Thats not bad at all and thank for introducing the motu interface. Hope to get the rack version and extend the HD with it via ADAT

    • @ZiwaHD
      @ZiwaHD  Před 3 měsíci +2

      If you can afford Neve then buy Neve . The Pres on the QHD8 are transparent; Neve Pres have a euphoric sound that we are used to hearing on the radio due to transformers involved !

  • @ImLordBaltimore
    @ImLordBaltimore Před 3 měsíci

    Considering buying one to use as an interface for the Akai Force for expanded inputs. Since you used a Force for the audio, any chance you can report on connecting the Quantum 8 as an interface for the Force to get more ins/outs? From looking at the specs, it's class compliant, can run in the required 44.1 kHz sample rate, so I don't see why it wouldn't work. But I don't see any other videos or posts online about these two pieces of gear being used together yet.

    • @ZiwaHD
      @ZiwaHD  Před 3 měsíci +1

      It is class compliant but you will have to get a USB C to USB A Cable as it only comes with a USB C to C . Also consider Tascam Model 12,16 or 24 specifically works with no hicks with the Force

    • @ZiwaHD
      @ZiwaHD  Před 3 měsíci +1

      Tascam Model 16 for example gives you higher channel count for less $$$

    • @ImLordBaltimore
      @ImLordBaltimore Před 3 měsíci

      @@ZiwaHD Good look. Gonna do a bit more research. The form factor of the interface is a tad more appealing for my purposes. I wonder if there's any difference in latency? Maybe you or someone else can chime in with any other reasons someone might lean one way or another.
      My idea is to use the interface for inputs, and use the mixer within the Force to control levels for a live band and a few internal instruments on the Force. Space is a concern so that seems like it would be a nice and tidy setup. But open to ideas.

    • @ZiwaHD

      #1 because of the extra headphone jack
      #2 to save desk space
      I don't know if all the other features are going to benefit me, like all the extra ins and outs what do you think?
      I mean, I don't record live bands and such.

    input -> 0.5ms / 24 samples
