If you're in the market for a three-row midsize SUV, you'd do well to check out the 2023 Kia Telluride. Since its introduction in 2020, the Telluride has accumulated a long list of awards and accolades for its blend of comfort, convenience, and value.
For 2023, the Telluride receives a mild styling refresh, but it remains instantly recognizable. The interior is new and its modern execution includes a curved glass display. The cabin continues to draw praise for its sturdy construction and materials that rival some luxury vehicles. There are also two new trim levels available with added off-road capabilities: the X-Line and X-Pro.
The Kia Telluride is the standard by which other SUVs in the class are judged. The related Hyundai Palisade is its closest rival since they share most of their mechanical components. Other worthy competitors include the Honda Pilot, Volkswagen Atlas, and Mazda CX-9.
The 2023 Kia Telluride is available in 10 trim levels: LX, S, EX, EX X-Line, SX, SX X-Line, SX X-Pro, SX Prestige, SX Prestige X-Line, and SX Prestige X-Pro. All come with front-wheel or optional all-wheel drive.
At a time when many carmakers are replacing larger six-cylinder engines with turbocharged four-cylinders, the 2023 Kia Telluride sticks with a burly 3.8-liter V6 that produces 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. That makes it one of the most powerful in the class and gets the Telluride to 60 mph in about 7.5 seconds, which is respectable for a three-row SUV. The eight-speed automatic transmission strikes a good balance between fuel economy and responsiveness, delivering power on demand.
All that horsepower from the Kia's big, brawny V6 does limit the 2023 Telluride's fuel economy. Mileage is only average for this class. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates the front-wheel-drive 2023 Kia will deliver 20 mpg in city driving and 26 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive dips those numbers to 19/24 mpg city/highway. During our testing, an all-wheel-drive 2022 Telluride earned 20 mpg in mixed driving around Southern California cities and freeways. In this class, the Toyota Highlander is the fuel-efficiency leader, especially in hybrid trim.

Made me laugh when he says a 54k car is a steal...prices of cars are out of control
My thoughts exactly!!
@amp_edition worth every penny
For this kind of money may as well buy a 4runner. A proper offroad vehicle that will long outlive this kia. And their resale value is much stronger than kia.
It’s relative to what you get
@@pyronic120120for off-road sure but for most people that think about off-roading but never do. Telluride all the way. Three row, current tech and a 10yr/100k warranty…..it’s an easy choice.
I have the original Telluride and have had it for four years. No problems at all with the vehicle and still drives like it’s brand new.
I have had my 2021 Seltos SX for 3 years with 36,000 miles and it also drives flawless and solid as a rock. Interior is holding up better than any of my former vehicles. I always lease, so I often have new cars. After my 3 year lease on Ford Escape- it felt more like I had it 6 years in terms of ride quality diminishing. Ford Fusion after that and it also showed its age. In the Seltos for 4 year lease but looking to maybe turn in early for a 2023 Tucson or Sportage. Mainly just for the extra space and they are 🔥🔥🔥
I just got the 2024 telluride. So happy we went with kia. Ppl can continue to try and shame these cars cuz " it's a kia" but they have stepped their game up
The thing is the 6 cylinder kia vehicles are great. If you start getting the 2.0l or 2.4L that's where most problems occur. Even the old 2016-2021 3.3L sorentos were reliable.
@@packers12to80Well in reality it's still a kia. I am gonna say they have come a long way from the early 2000s and have improved alot. That's like saying a bmw or Mercedes is still a Bmw. I'm not hating kia or hyndai but they are still a budget brand. A kia rio sell for $18K brand new.
@ronijr4918 well that kia is ranking extremely high In its class. So just maybe ya shouldn't judge all their vehicles like their bottom budget line Rio....no?
We got our Telluride last month and no single regret! My favorite unit already! Super duper recommendable for families!
But it’s still a kia! Should get a BMW instead
Has anyone tried to steal it yet
@@tommymills576 that’s the older models with an ignition key. Hyundai and Kia are installing the push button start switch to replace the key start on all models free of charge.
you should now ,,,,recall 430K Telluride due to Rollaway issue! Good luck!
Owned a Sedona, a Forte, Spectra and 2 Rio's and never had any issues with any of them. Enjoy the Telluride. It's a beautiful vehicle and one of the best suv's you can buy.
On my 2nd Telluride, no issues no complaints.
I like how you had me thinking you were going to bash the Kia Telluride 😄. I was ready to hit the thumb down lol. You are absolutely right these Kia Tellurides are awesome vehicles!!
I traded my 2021 Nightfall for a 23 SX Prestige and love it. Love the new infotainment center.
Got one about 3 months ago and love it. Stumbled on this video , I follow u on Ironman darts CZcams page and had to do a double take when u stumbled on this video lol
My wife's on her 2nd, about to get a third and we have had zero issues or complaints
We took delivery of our 2023 xPro a couple months ago. Took 18 months to get it. Definitely a great SUV. I do wish they did dual exhaust and staggered wheels…but I’m getting picky 😅
We've wished the dual exhaust since the 2020 model. And 4yrs still no dual exhaust
My gf has the 2023 Sportage and I have learned to like it. I am thinking of getting the Telluride and think will do great here in South Florida. Liked the review, I clicked the bell :)
Hi thx for the info. can I ask how much is the registration renewal fee for kia Telluride ?
54K For My 23 Xs Pro here. Been looking for a couple of years for a car to replace My 2013 GMC Acadia which was the best car I ever had. I looked at the new and used Yukon pricing and couldn’t believe what they were asking. This Telluride has more option and styling for the Money. Love the Telluride. Black with Terracotta Interior. Beautiful
What is the payload capacity for the X Pro?
Good to hear you still like the vehicle. We build them all day in West Point, GA. Hope you get one soon! Later in ‘25, you can trade for EV9 when it comes. Btw love the scruffy look.
Hello Jay,
Last November 2022 we ordered a Telluride EX, and by the end of February, still no word on it’s build date. After watching numerous KIA Telluride comparison videos, we cancelled the EX and reordered the SX on March 3rd 2023, and it was built on April 14th, 2023. We must have gotten into just the right cycle. Bye the way, this is our 4th KIA from West Point a
Jay, this is a continuation of my last post.
So you folks build get cars and it is amazing that you do all that in one plant.
A few weeks ago I picked up the trailer tow kit from a KIA dealer, so in the Spring I will get it installed. Know one seems to know why the lift gate latch has to be changed
Sorry, to big fingers. If you work at the plant, pass the word, thanks for building such nice vehicles.

@@dw.7655maybe due to the recall about wires. I don’t know for sure.
@@dw.7655I will. Thank you for the support. I’m from NY & lived in Syracuse back in the day.
I have a 23 Telluride X Line, bought it January 2023 for $59,844 and actually drove 7.5 hours to another state to get the color I wanted. It’s Dawning Red exterior with quilted baseball glove colored leather interior. It has all the bells and whistles. I’ve only had one recall for the parking brake, which was just a software update. I drove it from my home in Saint Simons, Georgia to Bozeman Montana four months after I purchased it and it handled beautifully. Going through South Dakota where the speed limits in some places was 85 mph, in sport mode, my Telluride handled like a rocket. My other vehicle is a bulletproof 5.7 L V8 Tundra double cab, which gets 16.2 miles per gallon. It’s not the best vehicle to drive across the country on a 3000 mile road trip. My Telluride averaged 35 miles per gallon driving across the country. The heated seats were just what was needed on cold Yellowstone nights, and the cooling feature on the seats was needed and welcomed in Las Vegas, where it was hotter than hell. I love my Telluride.
When l have an eye on a new car l try to find all the negative reviews and comments to see if there is a common problem with the car. I just bought a 2024 X line Telluride that l have not gotten delivered yet, so l got a little bit worried when l saw the title of your video 😂 l was pleasantly surprised to watch your video. I will get my Telluride delivered after three days and l look very much forward to it. Thanks for a grest video 😂
I have a 2017 bmw x5 now and now we have two small kids so we will have 2 rear facing car seats for the next 3-4 years. How much space is there for that? Big difference to the people up front once you put those car seats in rear facing position in my x5. Think this telluride will really help in that area?
Definitely will make a big difference there is a ton of room for reverse facing car seats
Do the cupholders in the front fit a regular nalgene?
Would You Recomend this over the New Highlander Hybrid? Especially since Toyota has a History of being more Reliable.
I say I settled for the 2023 Hyundai Palisade, but they are both amazing vehicles. I have a 2021 Telluride as well.
i bought my first KIA Cerato 2 Liter Engine brand new from the Dealership in Dubai in 2014 and it still runs like a top in 2024. Its now 27000 KMS (167700 Miles). still love the fuel economy.
We have a 2020 S Trim that we LOVE. We have owned 5 Kia and Hyundai vehicles over last 15 years. Loved each one!
Doesnt sound like they last very long if youve had 5 in 15 years
@@rjcam they probably lease…
@@rjcam Not the case in our experience. We always try to have a lower mileage vehicle for traveling and also for my wife’s primary use. I currently drive as ‘my vehicle’ a 2012 Kia Sorento. Don’t assume - just ask. ✌🏽
@@brittoncoil2518 No, just an average of new purchase every 6 years per driver, (if you factor in two drivers owning 5 total vehicles).
I'm currently in a dispute with Kia. The audacity they have, to tell me the problem is due to lack of maintenance, is disgusting.
You got me on the thumbnail 😂
Bought mine April of 2023. Very few were available at that time but I saw the SX-Prestige X-Pro, all black with Camel interior, and we went down to the dealer to test drive it. What a dream to drive, handles amazingly, and there is literally nothing you could possible want that isn’t in the car at this level. It also does lumbar massage if you drive more than an hour without stopping. Scared me to death the first time it happened. Sticker was $55,365 which was steep for us, but we keep our cars for the long haul. We still have our 2011 KIA Sorento, and it is still going strong. We did also test drive the Lincoln Aviator, but for the same price point, it didn’t compare to the Telluride. The one thing that dealers were doing at that time was pricing above MSRP which was crazy and annoyed me. One dealer wanted $10k above, ours was $2500 above, but still less than the Aviator, with a much quieter and smoother ride.
I can’t say enough about this car. Even at the other levels, people I know love this classy SUV. I knew we’d be keeping her, so we went all in and I’m really glad we did.
I should add my husband is 6’2 and has plenty of room front and middle!
I bought the first one out,and love it. Four friends and I do a lot of traveling in it. We are from age 63 to 74 and we have never had a problem.
Kia is now full of German engineer's and designers. They just hired another BMW designer. Kia (and Genesis/Hyundai) is Quality.
Dude. You put out a great video but don’t mention any specs on gas mileage?? Or, hear me out, HOW DOES IT DRIVE??!
What's the roof Cargo capacity?
I love the way they look and I was fully looking at one for the wife but the fire issues of the past models, cracking windshields, ripping seats, and heat issues steered me away. I will say I love that screen set up and integration to the in care entertainment.
BUT 109hp less than the explorer ST. $55K for a kia? Dude I couldn't, got my Explorer ST 400HP, massaging seats, heated cooled, real leather seats not pleather and it isn't riddled with problems. I do hope that ride holds up for you, it looks very nice.

I just got the fully loaded one and is amazing
Of course it is. It’s really odd that people buy other vehicles in the same class. There is no comparison to the Telluride. Palisade is a great vehicle, but the styling leaves much to be desired to say the least.
@@Ricky-mo6mvPalisade has wind noise issue but interior is more luxurious
@@al151 That’s seems to be the usual consensus. However, the exterior of the Palisade so happens to be one of my least favorite designs. I get spooked out whenever I drive beside or in back of one because it looks just like a hearse in a funeral procession.
The way they cut off the rear portion of the vehicle from the rest of the design is the largest problem. Just like the Chevy Equinox which is another very poorly designed vehicle with the same ailment.
After looking at almost all the 3row SUVs including the 2024 telluride, I really liked it. Nice interior. Loved the outside look. Preferred the larger sunroof in other cars instead of two sunroofs. The reason we didn’t go with it was the arm coming up from the center console. You can see it at 5:56-6:04 of the video. My husband felt like it was pushing into his leg and was uncomfortable. Also, the one we drove has an extension to the seat. If it’s not comfortable try pulling it in or putting it out. Liked it over all just wasn’t comfortable for my husband on the driver seat.

Still not bigger inside, and doesn't have the HP or the room behind the 3rd row that my 2023 Traverse has. Plus it was $5000 cheaper (CDN prices). I'm happy with my decision.
Who wants a freakin' Chevy?
My wife has a 23 Traverse Premier. I might be getting a Telluride. Space wise Traverse kills it, especially behind third row and under the cover extra space. Telluride feels more premium though with better tech and soft touch materials. 23 Traverse to me looks like a van. Now the upcoming 2024 Traverse in Z71 trim would be nice as long as it comes with the tech features i want.
@@al151 I'm not sold on a 4-banger turbo pulling such a large vehicle, I wish they left the V6, at least as an option, for the '24 Traverse. Not sure of the longevity of that engine. I'd need to drive one, of course, but I don't think I'd keep it out of the warranty period, just to be on the safe side.
We have been using Traverses for work vehicles for years now and just got a 2023 about 5 months ago. I have a 2022 Hyundai Palisade SEL and get the chance to compare these vehicles almost daily.
- Comfort, noise levels, power delivery all better on the Palisade. Traverse engine is particularly more noisy and less refined. Has more peak power, but not as tractible everywhere else.
- Interior design of the Traverse is still circa 2015. Terrible piano black finish, 3 different faux metal finishes, and terrible GM corporate switchgear.
- Traverse automatic 9 speed transmission is not as smooth or intelligent as the Kia/Hyundai 8 speed
- Safety and driver assist features on the Palisade are much more advanced than what our work vehicles have had at similar trim levels
- Chevrolet Traverse reliability has been god awful for numerous years, according to Consumer Reports. Make of that what you will.
I shopped the Traverse when I was buying early in 2022 and the interior of the Palisade was just a more modern space to be in. Maybe the 2024 total redesign will close the gap, but I was shopping in 2022 not 2024.
given the lack of luxury features that a traverse has compared to the telluride, of course it is going to be cheaper. almost 300 hp is plenty for an suv of its size
Hello, can you please tell me what the name of the color is for this telluride? I like it a lot.
I don't recall.
Where did you buy your window side shades?
Those are standard on many models.
Just purchased ours and it's been great. We got the top of the line at 55k out the door.
I watched, commented and then subscribed in 2020 after you first reviewed the Telluride. I had just traded in my X5 for the top trim end of 2019. I don't put a lot of miles on the car...but it's been great. Have two kids and we still enjoy the vehicle. Our other vehicle is the Model X. The only downside I see in the Telluride experience is the Kia dealer... they are the achilles heel. They could've leveraged the Telluride to become a trusted and loved seller...in the end, they haven't been able to handle being the hot girl at the party.
Full disclosure: I bought online and out of state. Paid msrp plus shipping.
Luv my 22 sx prestige. The only complaint is the recalls and the
bells for everything. Otherwise it's a great vehicle. Ran this through. colorado mtn snow packed roads with stock tires without a prob. Plenty of room for ski gear for 2 people with a storage rack on top 3 to 4 people could easily travel on multiple day ski trips. My friend is 6'4" and sat in the back comfortably.
Telluride is a good-looking SUV inside and outside.
Had our 23 for six months. Already over twenty thousand miles on the odometer. Love this truck!

We just bought a 2023 Sorento for my wife, the Telluride was a little bigger than she wanted so the Sorento was the size she wanted with 3 row seats. I was able to negotiate pretty hard and got 6K off MSRP. Also the 2.5 turbo runs like a bat out of hades.

We need a minivan and being we already own a Kia Soul we went to look at a 2023 Telluride and I was amazed at how comfortable they made the 3rd row, very close to minivan space. Then opened the hood and saw "GDI" and I'm like.... Nope. No sale for me.
Why did GDI freak you out?
@@foreverbrownsfan If you know how GDI works, and this isn't news, VW and Ford have had nothing but trouble with their GDI engines for many many years, you know this is planned obsolescence and I like to keep my cars 15 years. Hell I have a 2003 Honda Odyssey with the venerable 3.5L with old school VTEC and with 180k miles on the engine if I did a tear down I'd be hard pressed to find carbon buildup anywhere. I'm not going backwards in internal combustion engineering, I like to move forwards. I'll gladly do my own oil changes, ATF changes, differential fluid changes, even my own brakes. uhhh. I don't think it's a car review. It's a 10-minute car ad...
Ok, thanks
KIA tricks the consumer with the 100k warranty and decent car designs. but the engines have excess metal shavings inside that leads to failure
also, their 100k warranty is only for the power train. The electronics and gadgets are warrantied for less than that. And they seem to use sub par components that fail all too soon as well. So all those gadgets and gizmos might nice the first few years, but will start failing and glitching out past their warranty period.
58k is not a steal…well maybe for the dealers!

I studied twelve vehicles, got it down to four. Test drove and hands down the Sorento won.
Except they start to have serious transmission, electrical issues once they hit 55,000-65,000 miles. It’s way to common for the sorentos. And that’s right around when the warranty starts to end.
Lol😂 just got my 2024 selluride. Well worth the price.
Does it come with a fire extinguisher?
I still wish they put the stringer gt engine in this. At least even a trim for it. Definitely would check that box that a lot of “dumber” consumers look for
I had a 2022 and loved it- until the alternator failed at 12k miles and left my family member stranded. Dealer experience was awful. No more Kias. I went back to Lexus
How about the 2022 Carnival- mine is a total nightmare fire hazard death pit on wheels. Yup.

That was smooth im not even mad about the clickbait lol
LOL! Right!
With these markups and high interest rates, naw. Unless you have $54k cash sitting in your pocket.
I did and I snatched it!
@@2nd-place you tripping lol thats luxury car money for that ill lease a benz for 3 years
I wouldn’t lease a car but I wouldn’t pay 54k for that Kia it should be in the high 30s low 40s not in the 50s after tax you’ll pay close to 60000. Haha
Rather get an X5.
Well I bought the 2023 SX model and glad I did. Best SUV I've owned. JMO
Besides towing, how is it better than a minivan?
Looks wayyyy better then any mini van
Too bad it won't pull as advertised. I bought the xpro for pulling but they have not made the 4pin to 7pin adapter.
I like many are stalled off by kia and have a useless pulling vehicle sitting in my garage !
Minivan has Sliding doors and more room.
@@MrKillerRC mini van are still ugly
"No, I am not fine! I sell f-ing Kias! Think about that!" - Ashley Shaeffer
Ok?
He obviously doesn’t get the reference.
You want to buy one? Looks like it's yours with all the crap in it. I have 52,000 miles on my 2020. Its a sweet ride.
Ha - I appreciate the feedback. Also, just so you know, if you visit quotes.everymandriver.com you can see the BEST DEALS on new and used cars/trucks in your zip code! It’s a free search engine. Try it.
Look in to the Kia tasman mid size truck. Tell them to bring it to the USA.
I love mine!
?I don't get it? Never established an argument for not getting it...am I missing something?
Definitely a nice vehicle...but....
These go for up and around 55k. At that price Id rather get something much more reliable....like the Honda Pilot. Or the upcoming Land Cruiser. Hell for a bit more you can get something much better in a Lexus GX.
Yes Kia/Hyundai have been doing much better with their reliability but they are still leagues behind a Toyota or a Honda. So yes this might be a decent vehicle today....how about 2 or 3 or even 5 years from now? It will be worth next to nothing, where something like a Land Cruiser of a GX will still be highly valued.
So yes a nice ride....but not worth the money in the long run.
haha I forgot about that land crousier. And yes, for 55k you may as well get a lexus GX or a 4Runner TRD off-road or Off-road pro.
Imagine thinking you can get a Lexus gx for 55. 🤣
@@joelc9329 nobody said you could lol
We love our Kia Telluride!!
I would too!
I’m sorry but if I had the money and was looking for a family suv I would not care to ask my wife because it my money and I’m driving it. So if she doesn’t like it then walk😂😂😂.
So true
Wife has telluride me a Durango to n go. Long story short I hate driving hers to the gas station, car wash moving it in and put the driveway. Etc etc . Midnight trim looks good buy that's as far as it goes
I love my 2023 Telluride!
A Kia for 30+k dollars??? This economy made people and CZcamsrs to conform to this. I am glad the car market sunk
my Kia Telluride 👍
Keep that same energy when that GDI engine carbons up and fails on your way to work in the middle of the night and Kia wont replace it because you had 135k miles.
