    Blessed are the chatty gardeners! I really like this guy. His reverence for his family learnings and the courage to learn new techniques just makes his garden so prolific. I would love to have quail, ducks and chickens but my wife is reluctant to lop their heads off and butcher them for the table. His flag and his Instagram account show respect for his origins and this video has really inspired me to put up an Aussie flag of my own in my own garden. Well done Adam from your new mate Down Under!

      @@adamynyrardd It was your name Adam that prompted my comment.
      It was actually the first ever Adams punishment to have to cultivate the ground and make his own food for survival..
      And ironically here we are praising the fact that we can take part in the (punishment) cultivation of the ground ........as we were given the task to have dominion over the planet.
      Maybe its our way back to eden :-)
      Genesis.......
      cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
      Gen 3:18
      Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
      Gen 3:19
      In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground;
      Before his punishment Adam needed to do nothing for nature did it all by itself.

    The chicken coop is not cleaned out often, he only gets the manure compost out once a year. And the quails get pine needles as bedding. He uses that in fresh form (some people advise to wait) the blueberries love that. - the Duck quad are slug eating machines, he has a Welsh breed that is very docile. They even love to eat brassica leaves etc - but they are good ducks and meander their way through the garden in seach of slugs. They do not damage the plants.

    Thank you, Adam for sharing your garden and what you have learned. Your comment about raised beds allowing rain to drain made me realize that I should be planting my garden in a submerged bed. It is hot and dry here and my raised beds drain way too fast. Time to experiment with in ground beds instead. Water is the limiting factor here. I enjoyed the tip about the Welsh ducks, I will add them to my list for future poultry. Blessings.

    The gentleman is so right "you have to garden within the environment you are in". So many folks like the looks of raised gardens or listen to folks on CZcams extolling the wonders of raised beds and assume they think they are the best way to garden. They build them in areas where they are not a good idea at all. I'm in a dry area and water is not easy to come by. I watched a neighbour go to great trouble and expense building a lovely raised garden. I didn't say anything because young folks don't like listening to old farts. (Most naturally know better). In less than 3 years she had given up gardening because the garden dried out and died each year by august.

A friend of mine is moving up to an area along a northern river in Wisconsin, where the soil is good humus rich silty sand, but the garden area is partially shaded by balsam fir and spruce trees. It's good to know what can be grown there, your garden is incredibly productive and beautiful! I will pass along your words of wisdom.🌱🌍 Coincidentally we have Richards here too! 6:29 my second viewing. So I did not store away the gold nugget about the potatoes the first time. He grows them in 30 l buckets. The variety is blight resistant, is called Saro Mira, grows well in containers, and can be planted outside of the normal times. He just got some that he had planted 14 days before as young potatoes. In fall he removes the top of the plant, but leaves the potatoes in the soil in the container. They come into a shed and they keep well in the soil, he digs them out when he wants them.

Also consider tree growth when installing garden beds and structures. Rhubarb, some herbs and greens will grow in partial shade, as well as raspberries and other berries. Deciduous trees allow for more sunlight in spring, especially my very late flowering Catalpa. TFS
