Captain Vikram thought if they could determine the height of the mountain from the camp itself, it would save a lot of effort. Wake up man. Maths is taught in this way only. Go and check out exercises in NCERT book, they are application based only like such scenarios.

I tirelessly asked my math teachers the application of derivatives and integration and surprisingly none of them knew it. Practical benefits of a learning makes learning interesting, but sadly noone cared during my time at least. Thank you!!

Practically, this can be achieved if the RL of the collimation lines of both instruments is at the same level from which we calculate the angle of elevation. If not in same level then other rules will be applied to find the height of the hill.

There seems to be a calculation error in the last step.
Even if you round of √3 value to 1.732 (commonly used for calibration in such sums) and subtract it by 1 you will get:
400/0.732= 546.448.
Final ans: 546.4 (round off value)
