Funk is beautiful. All the different people from different backgrounds, all who love to catch a groove.
This version, but also ' keep that music playing' at High Sierra is so unbelievably divine. I'm sorry guys, i love you but i wish you would play this style more.

That section right before the breakdown - I love that you guys even attempted it, but nailing it so perfectly and with such incredible feel and soul really showcases how next level these cats are. Total pros in every sense.

I have watched this video probably 30 times this week, since I discovered it. I wish this was their style always. I have heard their albums over the years, but they are overproduced and not really my thing. This raw Meters feel is what I want. A little bit janky is just right. I have seen no other performances and heard no recordings that capture their sound like this. Whoever produced this did an amazing job of capturing the Pimps of Joytime at their best. Same with their other Jam in the Van performances.
In their defense, I will say capturing a live funk band on record is extremely difficult. Funk is such a feel-based form of music. My band, The Journey Agents, has always struggled to translate our live performances onto our records. I'm pretty happy with our last two albums, though.
