  • I will not just show you HOW TO use the new Relight OFX plugin in DaVinci Resolve 18.5 - BUT I will also show you how to use MULTIPLE instances of the RELIGHT plugin on the same footage.
DaVinci Resolve 18.5 comes with tons of new features and optimizations to the UI and the app. The new Relight OFX is an amazing new tool.
DaVinci Resolve 18.5 is currently in Beta so please always make sure to backup your Database before installing any beta version.

AWESOME! Thanks, definitely the best howto video so far. It would have been great to see a few other different footage examples each using the three different lighting effects.

Thank you very much. I would love to make long in depth videos, but unfortunately the YT algorithm wouldn't favor those and they would be harder to stumble upon.
But I do appreciate your feedback and will consider making some more in-depth videos occasionally.

Tony - really cool tool. Thanks for the demo.I am interested what it would look like when the light beams combine - like they do on a concert stage, where in this case the red and blue - would show magenta in a parallel node workflow. Interest also in tracking the lights.

Thanks. Yeah, that’s a good question. You would expect them to mix in a parallel node. I might have time to test it out later today. Happy Grading 🔥.

Good tutorial! But how does it perform on video?? No one is editing photos in Resolve, so its video performance ought to be the only thing that is important, no?

Thanks. This was a video clip. The Mapping proces is done one the GPU only so you will definitely need a fast one. It feels more or less like using Magic Mask. But the great thing is that you can cache the node doing the mapping so it won’t constantly re-cache.

@@Resolve_This For all intents and purposes, if you are not showing moving images, it might as well have been a photo. What we want to see is how the effect behaves on moving images and video, as we will be using the effect on video, not freeze frames.

I can't find the relight. Is this only in the paid version?

Yes, the relight tool uses AI and is only available in the paid Studio version.
