Robert's role as Rumplestiltskin is amazing! He does such a great job at making you feel what he wants you to feel every time you see the Dark One.
On the other hand, Robert's process of giving quirks to this character is simply crazy and wonderful--his voice, the hand motions, everything about him makes me believe in this character. I definitely believe he deserves an award for his performance.

I never realised just how good Robert Carlyle was until I saw him in this. His contrast from Mr Gold to Rumplestiltskin. He's really dynamic as Rumplestiltskin as well. He's as good as the various people who have done an interpretation of The Joker over the years.

Rumplestiltskin is a character that you just love. He is so damn interesting. He's just grey. Like never good never bad. He's just an absolutely brilliant character omg. He also reminds me of Loki haha

Bobby as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold does such a great job in acting. It's amazing watching how dynamic he can be with his various characters. You never know when you should trust him, love him, fear him, or hate him

As someone who did commedia dell'arte at a summer youth circus for years, his movements (the hand gestures especially) always reminded me of how my teacher did characters like Arlecchino and Capitano. It's awesome to find out that Robert actually did take inspiration from that form of acting.
It's amazing how Bobby can just switch roles like that. AND HIS ACCENT IS JUST FABULOUS I HAVE TO SAY!
It’s interesting because Mr.Gold and Rumpel’s mannerisms and the way they speak differ so much but theirs still an organic sort of energy that transfers between them. I can’t imagine how difficult it would have been to play characters who are at once the same person and wildly different people. It’s also noticeable how different in mannerisms and vocals Mr.Gold is from Robert himself, rather than seeming like it’s just him making decisions in a way rumple would.
I love watching Robert as Rumplestikin/Mr.Gold because he can be 1 character one second and another the next and also you never know when you can trust, hate,love him or if you can even help him at any time. somethings you think he is helping you when he is helping himself.

Quarantine period got me watching this series on Netflix. Am 4 weeks into watching it and am just on season 5. It’s just never ending but beautiful story line

When I was studying drama in my senior year of high school we got to do Comedia Dell'arte and I can remember so clearly that I got to do the thing with the arms that Robert Carlyle does as Rumplestiltskin and I got to teach so many people how to do it, it was really fun... Robert did such a stunning and amazing job bringing his character to life. Rumplestiltskin has been my favorite character since his first appearance on the show. Rumple really isn't just one character he's more like five or six in one man that's why this role, character, and Robert impressed and drew me in I give him the biggest applause!

Omggg I just finished the entire series and didn't even know rumple has an accent!! He did really well on the show!! He was my favorite from the beginning and he stayed my favorite till the end. I cried when he died. I love him!! Hope to meet him one day to tell him how amazing he is!

I really LOVE Robert and sought out this video in particular, just to hear his description of the creation of the terrifying, yet complex Rumple. I fell a little bit in love with him when he told us that his son's voice was the inspiration for the character! What a lovely and adorable tribute!

On the off chance Robert's bored during lockdown 2021 and has a little gander here - You should of won an Oscar for your Rumplestiltskin performance. Your portrayal of him was absolutley amazing. Every bit of the character you created - the voice, the moves, just loved him.... Regina was fantastic too.
Loved all the main characters - The brilliant Snow, Prince Charming , Emma, Henry, Hook , Belle, Robin Hood - Loved August ( Could have had more with him) & Neal. .. Everything in Story Brook. ( Creators: Brilliant Series, very clever - Loved it, great original cast - I was hooked on the first few seasons particularly.. Feel you Lost it a bit from Aladin onwards - Series 7 leaving Story Brook was a bit of a miss. I Was grateful Rumple, Regina & Hook were there, but really missed the main cast - and Henry should of woken up a lot sooner! Thank you for creating such a fabulous series )

I know this is a really old comment but he cut his hair because Robert started work on T2 (trainspotting 2) as he was one of the original cast members in the first movie so he needed to cut his hair for that role which is why rumple got a new haircut too as I imagine that was easier than doing wigs constantly
Oh my God okay I freaked when he said he worked with commedia dell'arte! I'm working on a production of a commedia dell'arte play at the moment and I hate it and think it's so outdated but Rumple is by far my favourite character, I'm shocked that Robert uses it in his characterisation!
