I looked out my kitchen window yesterday, and saw a truck hauling an old 555 down the road. Not gonna lie, my first thought was, 'Captain Kleeman?'. Then I remembered. I'm in Massachusetts, not Indiana.

BTW: a $10,000.00 backhoe nowdays ain't a lot of money for a used backhoe and won't get you much.$20,000.00 will get you a good "farm" machine. $30,000.00 will get you one you can use at a job site. $175,000.00 for a new one.... Yours is exactly what you said: you know what you got and know what you've fixed. Good machine.

Quick attach plate seemed good enough from my angle too !! 👀
No fabricobble here, just good old weldgineering 😁
Nothing wrong with extra support, you neve know when it will come in handy, but you won't see it, just feel it through the hydraulics 💪💪
And a third function on the front, marvellous!! Most backhoes have 4 in 1 buckets as standard over here, most operators would be lost without one 😵
555 paid for itself already, additions will make her more versatile 😎

like you said Capt, the Triple Nickel is a budget machine. the SS quick attach mods on current bucket stays in theme of budget. down the line you might be able to score a decent used SS bucket, a 4in1 bucket. if Capt gets adventurous, convert a brush hog to go on Triple Nickel. everything that can earn its invest, utilize Triple Nickel

Hi Mike. The quick attach bucket came out real nice. I don't think there is such a thing as too much weld for something that will be subject to having tension put on it from all angles. Also, I think you would have to search a long time to find a backhoe for 5K. Plus, you've freshened up the engine, rebuilt cylinders, replaced hose, etc. Definitely a good investment in my book!

Seeing the 555 in action, if you can get the rest of the machine looking even close to what the parts of the front end have been redone, you’ll have a clean one owner unit. Roam wasn’t built in a day, it’s looking great so far, just keep plugging away and before you know it you’ll have a good dependable piece of equipment that even looks pretty good. Keep up the good work and keep the updates coming.

I was lucky enough to find someone who does aid work and because of me being crippled, she helps me all the time with things I don't understand how to do. You will understand more when you are my age and depend on someone else to do the things you can't. I say this because of not knowing how to use my new cell phone and with it do some videos of my own of the dog or cat doing stuff that drove me nuts. That also put me to understand just what you have done to learn videoing and how much more it is to just do a simple task of videoing someone or something being done by anyone else. In simple lingo, It put me in your place and gave me a new perspective on doing videos, and why I don't do videos for others to watch. It kind of puts me in your shoes figuring out what is important to me and not be something nutso. Doing the work is now the easy stuff and videoing is crazy hard to get right.... so Mike, hats off to you on making a great video content like you have now for some time. I do believe I have watched all your videos as you made them and also realize what it has done for making a few shuckles for doing it.

Absolutely fantastic to see the continued improvements on the Triple Nickel. The potential was high when you got her and she has definitely proven to be a good solid machine. I know it can be hard for people to see past the rust, broken hoses, leaking cylinders, and all the rest, but you certainly got yourself a solid machine that will still be useful for a lot of years to come.
The auxiliary hydraulic investment and quick attach will make the old girl more versatile than a lot of new machines for a whole lot less money.
Yes, you could have purchased a used machine, but you would most likely end up spending between $4,000-$6,000 in repairs over the next couple of years that the seller wasn't willing to do because of cost.
These are just the simple facts of owning and operating equipment whether it is small or large, they get used and will need to be repaired.
    Mike,
I'm so glad to see you be able to actually enjoy and realize a lot of that previous potential. 😉
Can't wait for the auxiliary hydraulic options so you can have the functions for an active bucket and thumb.👌
I was going to mention a couple of places to reinforce, but you got to them before I could say anything.😅
One thing you might want to consider is doing a full weld along the top of return flange, where the quick attach fingers nestle in. The weight of the larger buck will stress those stitch welds quite a bit, but more importantly, by closing the entire length of the flange will seal it off from the water, rust, freeze jacking, as well as keeping dirt and debris from finding its way in there.
I enjoy watching you work through the process, keep it up.🤙
