Don't you get it. they're capable of freezing bank accounts. The banks of the world. All shoe manufacturing companies need these bank systems to function. Nike and Jordan shoes are made from cheap labor from countries like Vietnam and China. Places like these are heavily reliant on the system that is in place. Could you imagine a basketball shoe like Peak sign Kyrie and Brown for a shoe. deal. Companies like gap, nike, Adidas will move to Vietnam or India. It's bad for business not many companies are willing to take the risk in helping Kyrie create their own shoes or signing them in a shoe deal.

Kai and JB are making very very valid points. Nike doesn't care about ethics, Nike only acts if it's brand and reputation is in danger (even if it isn't), if an Nike athlete says or does something that goes against their brand, reputation or ownership then that athlete is dropped. It's like if you wanna be a Nike athlete you have to take all the unethical stuff that they have and ignore it (which REALLY makes me question LeBron). Kyrie said himself he had no intention of hurting any group with that tweet, he simply was doing research and felt to share what he found but Nike still felt it was reason enough to drop him.
Since Kyrie got replaced with Ja, Ja has been reported to be involved with gangs, apparently aiming guns at an opposing team (Ja responding to that with "cap" on IG stories) and just recently being accused of beating a 17 year old and aiming a gun at him in a pick up game. Now... I love Ja as a basketball player and I pray that all of these reports are false but, if they turn out to be true, I don't think Nike drops him, their relationship wont change, simply because he's a young, successful and marketable player that can make them money.
Athletes should now be looking for ownership, not endorsements.

Why would Nike endorse brown when he wears their products on court regardless?? Either wear them for performance and cover the entire shoe so Nike doesn't get any credit or stfu.
