  • Back on Sherman Hill, we'll take a look at the "new" SD40-2 (the last video presented me with the Cane Creek model as default instead), go over a performance mod that alters timetables to lessen train length as an option and run the route in its entirety from Cheyenne to Laramie looking at things along the way including where performance is at it worst.

Horseshoe Curve which Skyhook is making is going to have some good sounds they got a K5HL for the ES44AC and they are using my recording of an E-bell I sent them too the GP38-2 is going to have an RS3L and they have acquired GEVO-12 sounds so it should be better than cane creek

I'm a newbie to simulations, but I grew up in Laramie, live just off Mainline #3 now, and commute on I-80 from Granite Canon to Cheyenne daily. While I can nit-pick some of the plant choices, etc. (including short stretches of 4-lane highway paralleling the tracks in Laramie!), the overall effect is very true to the prototype, including the depot buildings in Cheyenne and Laramie. Dyno Nobel (pronounced "NO-bell") is a great representation. The darker blues on the horizon are a great representation of the hazy view of distant mountains on a summer day, and the rock work is fantastic. Fun to watch -- thanks for the video!

So the horns are made from an actual recorded horn on both the Ace and 40-2, and both have two variants of their respective horn that is chosen randomly at start up

Bro you always do a great job of breaking each route down. I may get this one in the future. Cane Creek wore me out. Lol I still like it though. This route is dope to watch. I just have to train myself to be able to drive it so long. Peaceeee Stay Up

Great video as usual! I must disagree with you on the scenery.... I have traveled this area extensively, Sherman Hill in depth, and they really hit it out of the park. I can't wait to play this once I get home off the boat. I wish there was a way to share some photos....I could show you what I mean.... I think the horns are much improved as well! Keep up the great work my friend!

Awesome video man! I am impressed with Sherman Hill so far very much. Much better than Cane Creek even with the fixes to it last week. Number boards still don't work, nor does the UP ribbed Hopper axles still don't turn

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I think its a farcry above CC, yeah CC had some nice areas but that was about it. Seems a foot in the right direction regarding American lines for tsw2

@@schnauzahpowahz Yes I totally agree with you! I will say as good as Sherman Hill looks besides the Frame drops, I'm more excited to see Horseshoe curve! I should be dropping more videos of my own custom livery catches here soon. Sadly my old ones were all randomly deleted on my PS4! I was sad and disappointed at first but it has given me a chance to try again with more detail and flavor for sure. Also showcase the Class 3 Shortline RR in my home city in Texas

So they didn't fix the dynamic brake yet, notice that as the speed decreases the dynamic braking effect increases, that's nonsense. As the train goes faster the motors generate more energy which should increase the braking effect, (around 1:39 in the vid) but at least it stayed on the track...

"that looked alright ... i enjoyed that roll'bye pretty smooth ... " TSW2 seems to have some framerate issues ya know ... I'll just say that when another company invents a game that has equal graphics that can be adjusted to a degree like with the UE4 settings including TSW2 with less frame rate issues say goodbye to TSW2

The sound is quite good. Not as much bass as it should have. Tho having a home theater setup does help make it better.

It has several problems that must be corrected. The first is that when the train starts, the last locomotive or locomotives are not coordinated with the first ones. For this reason, the train does not start. You have to go to the last locomotives and move them manually so that the second one can start the train. The problem is that the dynamic brake does not work well, it is not able to keep the train stable on the descents, it overspeeds and you have to use the emergency brake, the third problem is the poor setting in terms of the detail of the mountains, very poor .

Nice vid dude. I agree everything looks too washed out. The track area looks like a 2012 game. Why wouldn't they just use the Sand Patch tracks and brighten the rocks? They also maybe need to just darken the whole thing just a bit.

Just if you're interested: Laramie looks pretty crappy. I live here and there's a lot they got wrong. Most notably the first vehicle overpass you go under after crossing under the interstate? Yeah, that hasn't existed for 3 years. They built a new one further down, closer to the final overpass leaving Laramie for Medicine Bow. The footbridge isn't on scissor-lifts, and the road between downtown Laramie and the tracks is only two-lane. Laramie is barely recognizable in this game. Still, it's cool they actually have Laramie in a game. I think that's the first time this town has featured in any game.

Honestly the area immediately surrounding the track looks pretty awful. Not sure if it's the texturing or a lack of objects but it's pretty immersion breaking, especially since everything else on the route looks pretty decent or good.
