    Bullseye, I couldn’t agree with you more across the board. My dealer was worried I would want the Sportsman S,, before I purchased the Outlander Max. Mutual gripes with Polaris, and I’m riding slower and don’t need the width on our trails. Chad for a fast rider like you that suspension and stability has to have you thinking, but you can still catch a tire in mud or something and go over the bars...I did last week. • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  Před 4 lety

      Well.. Kinda. The premium use to have different color schemes as well, the trail package is just accessorisizing a base model but it's more expensive now because you don't get the brush guard and a few other things that the premium used to have.. So I guess what I meant was, the S replaced the Premium edition at the top of the lineup..

    Hey guys!
    Really like your content!
    Knowing you've ridden both, hope you're the right guy to answer me this but would you say the XP is faster than the 1000 S on the 0-60 launch or the 1000 S is despite the 55" stance and extra weight? And top speed?
    Aside from that, I find it kinda funny that the S version of the 1000 has 89hp where the XP got 90hp...

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  Před rokem

      The difference in HP is because of the exhaust set up and the difference in launch speed is due to weight with the XP being lighter.. Deciding between the two based on those factors alone is a mistake because the 1000cc CanAms are faster than both but limited at 77mph as opposed to 81 on the Polaris. Stupid speeds on a 4wheeler.. The S is far more capable in really tough terrain and therefore faster on trails

      @@DirtObseXXion Thanks for taking the time to get back man.
      No not at all, I kinda knew the XP would be faster off the line but I'd still consider the S model as the 55" stance, trail capabilities and performance sets up apart. It's in a league of its own as there's nothing in the market that would even compare.
      And I'd only assume the difference in acceleration between the XL and S is marginal anyways so S it is without a doubt.

    Looking to purchase a quad in the next couple of months. Was originally thinking a sportsman 850 or king quad 750. After a lot of research now I’m interested in an XP 1000 S for the beefed up components it gets and the overall build quality vs the standard sportsman. The S and KQ are obviously completely different machines but that’s the two I’ve got in down to.
    What are your thoughts on the likely reliability of the S? Seems like most of the components that typically wear out faster have been addressed. Would you agree? I wouldn’t use the full capabilities of the S except for the width it offers on rough SXS trails here. I like it for that, the looks and smooth ride. Also the 2” receiver and extra towing capacity.
    Im in TX so trails here are privately owned and SXS rule here. The width of the S shouldn’t be an issue and I already own a trailer. I’ll use it for trail, hunting, a little light work and playing around the ranch.
    KQ’s here are going for MSRP plus $1k in freight so I’d be looking at an EPS version with steel wheels for $11k, no bumpers, winch, etc.
    Or the S ready to go with everything and I can get one for $14k OTD with my ag exemption and $1k rebate from Polaris. Thoughts?

    • @DirtObseXXion
      @DirtObseXXion  Před 3 lety +1

      We tested a Scrambler S for about a year for ATVonDemand last year.. The S models are certainly impressive but I don't know that all issues have been addressed.. Polaris machines just tend to loosen up overtime more so than other machines.. The S will make SXS trails easier, that's definitely the biggest advantage but that does mean two things; 1. You're gonna run it harder in worst terrain and not even realize it will cause more wear on disposable components, and 2. Because it's bigger your line selection changes. Sometimes that's good, you deal with deeper ruts, and sometimes it sucks Because you can't center ruts or other obstacles you used to be able too.. I personally like a big single like in the KQ for a 4x4 ATV.. It makes them a little lighter and more agile.. The S models are wider and longer so they lose quite a bit of maneuverability which is one of the significant benefits of ATVs over SXSs.. The S models are like SXSs with handlebars... If that sounds good to you, go for it.. I'd personally go with the KQ though. I don't think long term reliability of the S would be even close to the KQ.. That's just a guess though, they haven't been around long enough to truly know..

They come out with a whole new vehicle the next year with upgrades that are beyond that issue. Loosen that pinch bolt all the way, drop some lock-tight in there, let it sit for a day (make sure steering is straight as it sets) then tighten the pinch bolt after 24hrs. Pinch bolt is 10mm.. On the head side, wedge a wrench on the bolt (i wedged a screw driver on top of the wrench so it wouldn't move). It's easiest if you go ahead and take the mud guard off the left front side. The other side just takes some contortion to get to.. If your steering isn't too bad, that'll fix it right up.. At this point my lower steering post needs to be replaced... I have it recorded, I'll upload it if you think it's worth seeing..
