My brother got me a mono vertigo gig bag for Christmas three to four years ago. Still in great shape. Awesome case used everyday. If you can afford one Definetly best one on the market. We’ve loaded/unloaded on the rain and snow. I use it for a fender us strattocaster and Gibson hollow body lp. Never had issue with anything. Awesome says it all

Thanks Dylan, great honest review. I use a Gator Pro for my boutique bass and thinking about the Transit.

I love my Gator Transits. Lightweight, durable, give proper support in the key locations, and they don’t cost an arm and a leg. I have one for electric and one for bass, and I plan on getting more.

I have a Gator Pro something something. but It gets a bit to heavy so I am looking into the Transit or something similar in weight.

Thanks for this. I am doing some research on gig bags vs shell cases

80% of my guitars came with the Schecter moulded hard case...for the 20% that didn't have a factory hard case, it just depended on the shape of the guitar body. The guitars with unusual shapes I would buy a Factory hard case, but the standard Strat or Tele body styles I bought the Mono gig bags for. I bought several at one time and was able to get a price break. I still wound up paying right at $260 each if memory serves correctly. I had looked at several different gig bag companies and watched your CZcams video on the Mono bag (I am sure I also watched Andertons video). It came down to overall appearance in the end; and the Mono just gave me the warm fuzzy feeling....so I bought 9 at once, and have never regretted the decision! Off topic, but I am really liking that "concrete gray" more and more each time I see it!

I have two Crossrock cases that are based on the mono design, really light and sturdy and very reasonably priced.

I use a Gator exactly like yours. I did consider Mono. I also have hard cases for all my guitars, so the gig bag is just for the times a use public transportation. With that in mind I couldn't justify paying that much extra for a Mono or even a top of the line heavy duty Gator (that one's still way more affordable than the Vertigo). Also this Gator Transit is one of the more stylish ones ;)

I own the Gator Transit for guitar and have been using it for over a year now and its still in perfect shape. I gig 2-3 nights a week and due to its durable quality , I'm getting a new one for my acoustic guitar. I tried the Mono Sleeve but it was wayyy to tight for my Les Paul guitar and returned it. The Vertigo is nice but its expensive IMO.

I just ordered the tan gator transit for my small acoustic Breedlove . I have several hardcases and love the protection but I hunt and fish alot and always have a guitar with me.so a smaller guitar in a gig bag works better for those occasions

Great review bud. I just picked up a Gretsch 2655T archtop Jr body size, but with a Bigsby. They don't make a case for that guitar, so I'm looking for alternatives. Saw that gator at GC and wanted to see a real review by a real person. I don't have the 280 for a mono, and the gator fits my guitar model well. I'll probably go that route. $100 is right in the price range I was looking. Thanks again for being real, I appreciate it.

The Mono gig bag seems to have extra space over the head. Could you confirm that please ? It would help me to choose for my baritone guitars.

Hey Dylan great reviews. Can you or anyone here recommend a slim in-cabin flight gig bag with enough space for a quad cortex? Would the QC fit in the front pocket of the transit for eg?

I think i will give that gator transit a try, unfortunetaly it is 125 euro's over here, but it's that or anything from mono wich is just too expensive for my taste.

Hi Dylan, Would love to hear your thoughts on acoustic guitar humidification. Specifically which products or DIY ways work best? I just got a very nice custom shop Maton which i keep in the case, but it's a hot dry summer in Sydney Australia and I'm trying to keep everything balanced.

    • @slammingrooves

  • @franciscocastaneda7060

Does the Gator work better with the LP headstock than the mono? I've just got a mono vertigo but the head touches a the bag, that makes me nervous a bit

  • @Clambelly

  • @alanpettibone

I love reading everyone bitching about the cost of the Mono. I have 4 of the Vertigo bags and use them for travel (until COVID) constantly. I have nice guitars and I want them well protected. At a price of $300, that is 1/10 (sometimes less) the cost of its contents and that seems reasonable to me. It is good piece of mind if I have to gate check a guitar on a smaller plane or something. I have given up on the molded fiberglass and carbon fiber as they actually seem to get way more damage inflicted upon them than my Vertigo bags. I don’t know if that’s because they are huge and rigid and make things more difficult for baggage handlers or what. Long and short of it… I couldn’t be happier with the results of countless trips and flights with the Mono. If you have nice gear it is worth protecting it.

  • @lucasanderson7420
    @lucasanderson7420 Před 6 lety +1

I’m strictly hard cases. Use nothing but. Too many times I’ve had guitars damaged in gig bags by people handling my guitars when loading and unloading for a gig. I want that hard shell around my guitars to protect from idiots. On top of that, no one ever touches my guitars nowadays. But still want the hard case just Incase.

  • @guitarist1

I agree with the tick bag being bulky but if you have a mini pedalboard like the pedaltrian nano, it can literally fit in there, making your hands free from carrying another bag or flightcase for a pedalboard. I hope they also have a version of the tick bag for other gigbags but so far Mono works well for me
