@@hedon5028 I'm not disagreeing that Hill is ready, he clearly is ready when it resumes. What I'm saying is the distance has been closed by Alex's hop. I don't know how you are not seeing that hop but it's very clear.
The confusion exists because Hill connected with the cup and he plainly stops out of respect for his opponent and because Herb shouts "stop". He doesn't plead with Herb for a reset probably because he doesn't want to complain or look like a coward, or maybe just imagined that he would be okay at the closer distance - which he clearly was not.
Is it a negligible or significant advantage? I don't know. I just feel that for someone with the KO power of Alex it was somewhat of an advantage, but like everyone else admits, Hill needed to be aware at all times and he shouldn't have paused and respected his opponent.

So did you just choose not too listen when alex said it was impressive. Or when he said he wasn't taking anything from him. They understand that Hill's responsible for protecting himself, but as a fighter you have to look at fights through both fighters eyes, so when they explain what happened they are just describing it as if they were in Jamal's shoe's playing devil's advocate some what. People really think they know more about this game than Alexander Volkanovaski. If anybody knows what its like being in a championship fight and the details involved it's this guy not random blokes on the internet. Internets a crazy place.
They never credited Alex in his whole ufc career, it's always a "luck shot", "early stoppage", "his opponent didn't wanted to wrestle" and he keeps getting bigger and bigger

Alex did the hop before Herb entered. Also people claiming a hop equals a KO is delusional. There are dozens of situations like that in every fight and how often do fighters take advantage of those? Rarely.

@@sasamunjiza5203 Yeah, I don't think it's intentional on Alex's part, but he did capitalise on confusion of Hill expecting a break in the action when Herb yelled "stop" after which Hill pauses and Alex covers ground. It's true like you said that these situations have happened many times and don't obviously make a difference in a fight. But when someone has the power of Pereira a small advantage can actually make a big difference because one mistake can cost you the fight. And I'm not saying Hill would have won if this didn't happen. I think Alex would have won anyway because I think he's the better fighter, but he capitalised here in a subtle way. Just how big of an advantage he really gained is up to you to decide. And Hill probably should have not paused, but maybe he did it out of respect.

There was no interruption and they kept the same distance that they had before, not to mention that they touched gloves before reengaging. It's consumated. Hill lost with 1/3 of a left hook. Imagine if that was a clear shot. If he accepts it'll hurt less.😂😂😂

Unified rules of MMA, Section 15, Subsection G, Par. ii: if the fighter states that they can continue on before the 5 minutes of time has expired, the referee shall, as soon as practical, restart the fight.
Alex waived Herb off after Hill’s foot connected with AP’s cup (wherever it landed last, the hollow sound of a steel/ plastic cup is incontravertibly audible).
Herb called “time out”. Alex hopped **once** simultaneously *as* Herb was calling “time out”.
Herb then called “time in” and Hill and Alex formally reengaged by *tapping gloves* then hand fought twice before alex faked a right as Hill threw his first left straight which Alex slipped and deflected before countering with a left shovel cut.
There was appox 3-4 seconds of hand-fighting after tapping gloves for Hill to have refocused.
Alex won the handle-battle and foot position before the time out was called. Hill was check-mated fair and square.
In a championship title fight one should never lose focus even for a millisecond. There are *no* excuses, ever (least of all headlining a historic UFC 300 PPV titlefight).

As the fight continued there were a good few seconds where everything was clearly reset fairly. Jamal had plenty of time. Absolutely no advantage for Pereira.
Just glad Herb did not stop to fight until Alex bounced Hill’s head off the canvas a few times. Or else you guys would be saying it was an early stoppage.
But every eye poke never becomes a big issue anymore when most of these champs use it for advantage.
