  • I remember when I was a kid, whenever I was scared or when I was in need, the first word that came out from my mouth was usually “媽-maa1” (just like how my daughter called me at the end of the clip). Even now, it still happens to me when I’m shocked. It was when I became a mum, that I got to understand how my mum would feel when I was younger. As my mum and I don’t live in the same country, we don’t see each other in person often. So, Mother’s Day is a day not only for a special occasion, but on this day, I also remember those who have lost their mums, those who wanted to be mums, those who are in complicated situations. You’re in my thoughts.

You're right! It was common in Chinese classic literature too. But in Cantonese, especially nowadays, it would cause so much misunderstanding with a short clip like this, so I decided to skip this one. 😝
