The first time I saw the Golden girls was after my x-husband left. I was 38 with small children. When I saw this I felt a whole lot better! Seeing how much life was left to be happy and move forward. The Golden Girls lived through every experience on earth. Laughed, cried, celebrated and reflected on life. It was so good to see a show that covered everything that life has to offer. That’s why it’s a classic that I still love to this day! I’m now 76 and enjoying every show! Thank you!❤

Well Dorothy at least deserves that much after all she put up with Stan. He got her pregnant and he couldn't even hold down a decent job and poor Dorothy had to probably hold down 2 jobs and go to community college at the same time to get her teacher certificate and eventually bachelor of science degree in teaching and become a teacher while her husband Stan was just a salesman between jobs and in between jobs and by then Stan and Dorothy had2 children to support which isn't easy.. They had monthly bills, 2 children, household expenses, etc.. And most of it depended on Dorothy's salary and sometimes Stan and that's where Dorothy's parents helped out financially also. On top of that, when Stan was saying to Dorothy that he was working working, ( although he really wasn't) he was lying to Dorothy about that, he would go away for a long time and have affairs with many women and after 38 years of marriage, he divorced Dorothy and left her for a younger woman which angered Dorothy and sophia.

Am I the only one who thinks Dorothy's dress when she was going to remarry Stan was MUCH better than the one she wore at her actual wedding to Lucas?
You’re not alone. I don’t hate the other dress but I think it’s that ruffled V piece across her chest is what I don’t like about the dress. I think it would’ve been better if it was cut to the shoulder sleeves or removed, as I do like the veil pattern on the dress.
I do like Dorothy’s first dress as it was simple and pretty with the shiny pieces on the loose dress with the head piece, especially since yellow looked nice on her.

Yes, that wedding dress was ugly and she was too old to wear something like that and she should have worn a cream silk and lace double breasted skirt suit with a feather and lace headpiece!
I think they wanted to represent Dorothy's love life and choices more with the dresses.
When she' s going to marry Stan again, she probably still felt uncomfortable and insecure, hence leading her to wear a wedding gown that didn't fit who she was.
That's not the case with her newer husband. He loves her for who she is, and so she feels more comfortable wearing something that suites her personal style more.
No matter how many times you see it… This comedy is pure gold.
And Blanch was sooo naughty.
Makes me still laugh to this day.

Stan showing up to Dorothy’s wedding to Lucas is a happy tearjerker when the last scene of those two alone had him genuinely apologizing for all that he had done wrong to her before taking her to the church. Yutz that he may have been, he loved Dorothy and wanted her to be happy even if it wasn’t with him.
This was such a well written show! Great humour, great acting and they all dressed so well!
My favourite scene is where Dorothy squeeze Blanches hand and she collapses

Sorry, but they kinda did Dorothy dirty with that "toilet paper roll night gown" - she deserved a beautiful dress!!!
On a side note, I always thought that it is common for mature women to opt for a more colourful ensemble/dress instead of a long white gown, especially if they are widowed/divorced. Sth a bit more like Blanches creme coloured dress for example.
Of course everyone can wear what they want, I'm not saying they shouldn't wear white gowns. But whatever, it's a show :D

IMO, if you remove the toilet paper ribbon and alter the bodice, the dress would have been lovely for its time. But unfortunately, the eyes go straight to the toilet paper every time. The wedding ensemble she wore for her 2nd wedding to Stan is nice though.
As for wearing white or not, that comes from women traditionally being virgins at their first wedding. The white symbolizes purity and innocence and whatnot. I suppose that 30 years ago, older or more mature women would likely still have that traditional mindset, and so an off-white or cream colored dress would have made more sense.
But as you indicated, in the end, the bride can wear whatever makes her happy. :)

That is Quintin Tarantino in the sketch with all the Elvis impersonators. He is one of the impersonators. He did it to get money to direct Reservoir Dogs. He said in an interview those residuals kept him eating for quite a while.

I think it’s the lack of trust more then anything
It has to do with all he put her through during their first marriage. She was faithful, birth and raised his children, supported him emotionally and financial while he spent that same amount of time cheating on her right, left, front, and back or sitting at home acting like a self-indulging jerk. He cheated on her and then left her financially insecure after 30 plus years and he wants to plan to do that to her again through a prenup (leave her financially insecure). He has the audacity to question her integrity and worth by asking her to sign a prenup? He was a selfish self-serving SOB during their first marriage, and he once again proves his selfishness right before their second. Marriage to him is all about his needs and what he gets out of it not their needs which is why he cheated on his 1st, 2nd, and 3rd wife. He's a user.

She raised their 2 kids and put herself thru school.
How Dare he think she was greedy and just after his money.😤
At the wedding he finally got it. He didn't deserve her, he never did, and she didn't love him anymore. Not as a friend, not as a memory, she had finally closed the door on Stan and wouldn't even open it a crack for him ever again.
