GIANT RC rally car! CEN Racing Ford Puma Review & Run

- Stoked to try out my first ever RC rally car and this is a good one!! It's the latest release from CEN Racing (the ones who make the F250/450s!) and it's a 1:8 scale Ford Puma Rally1 ready-to-run car. With super powerful programmable brushless electronics, 4wd, a detailed body, and racing wheels, this thing absolutely RIPS on 2s - and I can't even imagine on 3s!! We had a ton of fun out at the local pump track. Definitely the best terrain for it is on-road and especially hard-pack dirt.

@@RCGirl I purchased this Puma but now I have a $400 paperweight. Within 10 minutes on my first pack (after first reinstalling the pinion bolt that had backed out in the first 5 minutes) one of my rear axles just decided to snap off right at the hex (where the hole for the pin is). Do you happen to have a contact at Cen Racing? I have been unable to reach them and I would like to get this fixed ASAP. The spare parts axle kit on their website is out of stock so right now I am SOL. Thanks!

Wow Cen racing couldn’t ask for a better promo video. The shots from the pump track is just amazing. I’m stunned the way this thing moves, nice driving there as well. It could only be cooler if it had clear windows but still amazing.

Thanks great look and run of this amazing car. I’ve got to have one. I’ve always loved really cars and the WRC, and this thing looks the scale part and runs like it too. I’ve never been much into onroad cars because they aren’t versatile but this could work for me for some parking lot bashing on less then ideal surfaces

Other have had issues with the body catching on the wheels! Obviously it needed a ladies touch 😂😂 great video

Really appreciated the research do e on the real wrc . It’s a great sport and I recommend watching the Kenya rally and the 80s group B .

Awesome car and a really good review but the tires look like they’re for tarmac would be nice if you got a set for gravel as well and the possibility to raise the suspension either with longer shocks or different mounting points.

Am into rc truck and cars since I was a kid
it is good i got it and the only issue is the tire branding fades after 2 to 3 uses and its going to so to be honest i wouldn't le that bother you, but im sure cen will sell replacement tyres because this thing rips and they wont last long.
was on the park the other day and i had a crowed of people watching people with kids in push chairs and skateboarders just stopped to watch it. this thing its awesome.

I am now convinced that I do not like rally RCs. The shapes of them are like boxes with huge gaps between the sides of the bodies and the chassis. The end result is that every bit of dirt, pebble, rock, and boulder gets flicked inside for a dirty rocky mess.
Are there any of these with dust covers? I know the MJX Hyper Go 14303 does, but I mean in the 1/10-1/5 scale group.

I've seen three videos of this software far and all three had missing screws, one broke a front arm and another saw the motor shift do to loose screws. All three needed serious body trimming. Wait for the second version.

I just got mine. First con : the body shell need to be trimmed a bit because wheels bumping on it even in a smooth concrete road. Otherwise : great choice for the money : 45 mph on 3S Lipo .
Mine doesn't rub on the wheels but the ground clearance is tight so it does scrape a bit when you go over bigger bumps/rocks
The rc is more suited for you, you do trail, something I notice you can put a mech with easy to protect the electronics from gravel and much more
yeah it does need a mesh chassis protector!
id like to see some people build an actual rc rally track. It would be kind of tough to do as you dont want it to be just a worse off road race but i think if done right it could be awesome.
Yeah maybe even big enough where the driver has to run alongside the course with the car, kind of like the rock racing at Axialfest

Nice 1/8th scale car. Will probably cost pound \ dollar equivalent by the time it's available in the UK so 500 quid's worth!
You didn't have the issue other reviewers had of the body rolling up in the rear tires. Did you notice any missing hardware?
Yeah people keep asking that. I didn't have that issue. I only ran on 2s, not sure what others were running. Maybe it happens at higher speeds

Pretty cool car but from the vids I’ve seen so far the rear of the body gets caught and folds under the wheels so they’ve trimmed the body…. A little disappointed with that point!

I'm torn between this one and the HPI WR8 Flux Subaru rally car.
I own both models. The WR8 is very robustly built and has three differentials, the platform is old but proven. The CEN Puma has no centre differential, seems similarly robust and drives similarly. The body of the CEN Puma is more detailed and looks great, even better than the Subaru.
The models are otherwise relatively similar, I'm pretty sure CEN also looked at the HPI when the model was being developed. The performance is almost the same with 2S and 3S when you compare the two models.
It's best to buy both 😉
I wish I could afford both but these things are expensive here in Canada.
I’ve got the CEN body fitted to a WR8 now, sold the Subaru shell I’d planned to fit in place of original Fiesta WRC body. Looks amazing
Imagine FPV’ing this! I really want to FPV my TRX4 but I can’t find a easy step by step guid on how to do this. Or rather I want to set it up to my Fanatic Racing rig for my racing games on my PC and control it through my PC screen
I have a vid on the HD setup from CaddXFPV but I don't think the stabilization is good enough yet for driving really fast. I did see a newish company called CloudRC that sets up an FPV system from their PC, but I haven't personally tried it store.cloudrc.com/

I like the chassis build and its protective underside chassis belly.
Dirt and dust will still make their way inside onto the parts as there are gaps between the shell covering and chassis edges. But the bottom is completely covered - protects the internal parts underneath from potential damage. Caused by friction and impacts on the ground surfaces.

Love your channel, just a couple of friendly and well intended comments though. ' Rally racing' is just called 'Rally' and also its not on public roads generally unless tarmac rally. Mostly gravel rallies are on forestry roads. Look forward to more all the best.

Thats the problem with sponsored vids this is not fast its a ok car with 20 reviews dropping at the same time your the only one that didnt mention the body getting sucked into the rear wheels try a Traxxas Sledge thats a fast car and I run saft packs in it no problems with it rupturing or breaking as you called it and it has seen way more than this cheap little car
Coming from mostly crawlers, this is fast for me. And I didn't have the body get caught in the rear wheels
this car has a serious flaw . The body shell posts move about like jelly , so that the rear of the body shell gets entangled with the rear wheels . HOW STUPID IS THAT FOR A $500 RC car 😮
They are shipping out a body mount in all new trucks to help solve that issue (I didn't have that issue myself tho). Nice to see they are listening to feedback before the trucks ship
My model already came with an additional support at the rear, it was already mounted.
No center diff = FAIL. readers don't waste you money and go buy the HPI WR8.

Clearly just 1/10 electronics with glass diffs... seriosly why is this being marketed as 1/8? Anyone who bought one would be frustrated to learn this can't actually race with any of the other larger 1/8 rally platforms.
Which other platforms do you mean? I own a HPI WR8 and it uses 1/10th scale electronics, too. But it is still very powerful and fast.
