I'm away visiting family at the moment and have limited internet. You're all awesome (event the Salty Sea dogs)..... appreciate the support. 2 more NEW Releases coming over the next week... stay tuned!
The weather here in St. John's is not too much better lol. The Subie looked pretty fun, looking forward to PArt 2
Hello is the body compatible with the hpi wr8 ?
Love the car you should come down and join us at are rally venue
You should review the KFPLAN KF10 when you are back
please tell me where you get the japanese pointy hand from !!!
u can upgrade the motor yes
Can't wait for part two!!!
They don't need to be fast to be fun!
wow epic
Keen for the upgrade!
Damn I would still put the box art on the wall looks smick
I really wish arrma would make a rally version of their 3s chassis. Glad that carisma took the initiative!
Infraction technically that thing does rally and off road better than the traxxas fiesta
Build a senton as a rally car. That's what I'm doing
I beat the heck out of an infraction mega converted to 3s both on and off road. Bought a vendetta for on road/speed, took electronics out of it and swapped them in the mega, converted the vendetta to 6s electronics out of the big boy infraction. Road car + on/off road basher combo. Christmas in July!
I totally agree. I have 3- 3s chassis, and I've tried a few different chassis and a-arm lengths and setups to get it close to fitting some 1/8 rally bodies, with no luck. Just used some buddies rally bodies, I'm sure there's some that will work, just don't have access to them.
Jason wanted to do a rally car I'm guessing Horizon don't at least not at present anyway
You have really nice shooting angles for driving, looks super.
Another great video. I actually like that speed. I've seen a lot of your vids where the cars are so quick they end up flipping into their roof every time you hit a pebble. I'd sooner have stability and save the components from getting smashed up.
Looks great! Body clips were a let down 😢
Great looking car
That is really nice! I’ll have to get my hands on one.
got to be done!! looks awesome as well
Rip Colin mcRae ❤
Phil you know what must be done.
Definitely I made my ftx outlaw crazy for £40
Seems about right Scale to speed wise if that's what they where going for.
You dont always have to be fast to have fun! :p
First thing I would do is change the motor out for a bigger KV & longer one, & put the biggest pinion gear on it I can for 2S use only! 🤷♂️
I think a castle system would do wonders for it. 4s and hang on lol.
An Audi 80 Quattro Sport Rally car would be amazing.
I just had surgery so while I was down I built a Tamiya WRX kit nearly identical to this minus the Colin McRae decals. It was my intention to make it his car. Very nice.
You mention smart ECUs and what you're referring to are the adaptive values. I used to work in the business as a tech and different driving styles would scramble the values of a car causing it to have odd manners. Husband drove hard while wife drove gently and neither liked the way it drove. I reset a lot of those ECUs and told them to figure it out!
Now I might need one of those for my spare 4s stlystem :)
Mmmm, that good old tarmat spec tyres.
Ready to Run........slowly
Need an Evo version of this
interestingly if it is that slow and still fun on the dirt it would be harder to break. My tt02 is completely stock and i have as much fun with it as with my 6s Trucks
🙋🏻♂️ Hi Phil
Wauw 😃 that's my dream car richt there and you are the one that's is some sort of reviewing him 😊
The real one will probably a dream for ever, but this one I hope 🙏one day call it my own 😇
I struggling to keep my kids happy and well 💁🏻♂️ live is hard sometimes but a man can dream right.
I'm smiling long before your done with the video haha thank you again for this one Phil and no just thanks ✊🏽
Absolutely. It doesn't really need more power, just needs gearing
Thanks for the review. Size comparison to the wr8 wrx please.
Very similar to the HPI WR8
I give them credit for trying but I think I would still choose the WR8
I miss my TT-01 now.
i see tamiya Screws omg
I'd love to throw just that body on my WR8! Hopefully they'll make replacement bodies for purchase.
I think a 3500kv motor in a 550 size can would really wake that thing up
Looking forward to seeing how you go with it 👍
They made one of these same cars with a Porsche 959 shell on it 10 years ago nearly!!
19c is 9 more than in Hamburg Germany ^^
I have a Vendetta 3s esc and motor that wd wake that thing up nicely.
Looks really nice but I would change all the electronics out of the box and sell the stock ones, and try and make some lexan dirt guards and it would be class!
... and I just got the WR8!
Alex kowaliuk here from America wow so cool
I LIKE it... very cool. :)
When the WRX was new here in Australia, the Subaru dealerships were sending people to local drag strips and video recording any that they saw on track, so if it came in for a gearbox warranty, denied.
Do you remember the Kyosho nitro version. Colin and Nicky were given one each and Nicky had me build and run his in for him.
That 18mph looked good on the gravel and this is a rally car so I don't see any problem here. My typhon has 6s system and I only drive it with 4s batteries. Fast enough and it will never melt down.
Tbf that’s quite scale looking speed which is interesting
I need to sell rcs to fund other things but man cool stuff is always coming out
The 555 logos are wrong on the right side of the body, the three small swooshes should point towards the front of the car so they still read as 555.
Can't wait to see what you do with it. Great video thanks.
Do it make it super fast
He was a true legend ! Unbelievably skilled driver shame he’s gone.
Maybe a dab of expo if you can with another receiver, throw some drift tires on it and have a 1:8 scale drifter?
Myself and mates do a bit of rallying and we've been rally marshals for 20+ years.
I met Colin and his Dad, Jimmy McRae on the Astra Stages Rally in 2004. Colin was flying the Squirrel helicopter which he ultimately crashed. He was wearing a Dakar T-shirt as he was doing the Dakar Rally that year. We had photos taken with both Colin & Jimmy, and met them both again in Cardiff on Rally GB that year.
Jimmy was my rally hero as a child. Back in the days of Group 4 & Group B. Jimmy is still competing now, mostly in historic cars, - Mk2 Escorts and a V8 Firenza.
Wow,cool memories to have mate,I'll bet you'll never forget those days
@@davidmellish3295 , yep. I think up in my attic is a marshal's tabard that I got both Colin & Jimmy to sign when we met them on Rally GB in 2004. Both of them were happy to chat and have photos taken with myself & mates.
We were marshalling on Rally GB near the finish of the final stage in Margam Park when Richard Burns won the WRC Championship in 2001. Still hard to believe both Richard & Colin are gone.
Reminds me of my old tamiya tg10 😢
That 3S footage 👌
So close and yet so far! Yet another one that I would snap up as a roller
absolutely agree
Had a real gc8 some years ago definitely i will buy one just for the memories
Morning Phil
i think you should lift it a little and make it into a trail car
RIP COLIN OUR TIMELESS LEGEND 🖤
Well, it's a CAD$500 ready to run, I don't expect much from this 😄
Tomley, what is your favorite rally car?
A 3660 and a 60amp will make this fly on 3s shame its that slow for the price. looks awesome though.
Does anyone remember the transformers Subaru wrx from back in the day? I believe his name was Smokescreen. I remember having one, and it was cool. Watching this just reminded me of it.
I remember. It was from the Transformers Alternators line that transformed into licensed, 1/24-scale accurate representations of real cars. His name was Smokescreen.
Carisma watching as overvolted esc could catch fire at any point 😂
A 3500-3900kv motor would definitely turn this car into a beast
Cue modification time ……..😊
I had a '99 impreza wagon a few years ago..you could see it rusting away day by day 😂
if they did a roller with no electronics it would be worth sticking a max 8 combo in it
Love it! And come on, it's plenty fast enough to have some fun with it. 😀
Can't wait for part 2!
I got the Tamiya TT02 Subaru 1:10 (same looking model) with the Lipo 2/3S combo included. And that makes 25mph with 2S
Will be awesome to see this car do some real ripping.
Great car love subaru but seem like need more speed am power
I think the HPi wr8 is the one ..
The speed side is kind of lack luster. But for a vehicle this size that cost less than 400 dollars it's not bad at all
Would definitely like to see a part 2. I was all excited about this one and was about to purchases it. So I'll hold off until I see some upgrade reviews.
3s woke it up a bit , elsewheres & today another reviewer clocked it under 20mph.
Well damn. A Colin McRae Impreza? More money going out I guess.
You no Whot that needs a 6S motor esu setup to Whot it should of been 👍👍
subaru again! one of my favor! but 1/8 scale is too big for me~
I feel like we've been a bit spoiled with the speed of some of the RC showings to to date but that looks like a tonne of fun and it's probably a pretty scale speed.
It pretty much is. 18 x 8=144MPH and the real rally car would have been about 155 max... Hardly ever hitting that speed, too. I think this would be very fun to simulate rally.
Pretty much yeah, and as the owner of a gc8 I can say this is pretty realistic for one reason, it's slow 😂 no matter, id dish out that money just to have that beautiful body and chassis
Potential for a cheapy👍
It looks tremendous and despite the lack of speed it's pretty cool
🤘❤️🤘
Carisma has some nice cars buts it's a damn shame they discontinue things so quickly
Wrong things with bodyshell are roofscoop, wich is 98 spec and rims, also 98 spec onwards. But cool car.
Looking very Just Essentials by Asda budget and cheap.
With some modification, it may well be a drift car.
i put a brushed esc from amaon on 2s in my old XXX-t and it goes like 30mph. I think its got a 13turn 550 traxxas motor. they really crapped the bed on this for having an all metal gear box with no power.
I wonder if the body would fit on the Hpi wr8
Nice rig but for what you get id choose a Traxxas Rally over it
At last ..been looking forward to this vid on my favourite car !!
Toy grade £49.99
The KV on that motor is EXTREMELY low, which Explains why its so slow. It should get absolutely insane run times tho lol.
trail car lol
I agree, I got 2250KV on my Maverick quantum rx flux rally car but that thing can handle 4s! This car should have at least 3600KV.
@@Tamichtube exactly, 2500kv is 4s numbers hahaha.
Blue blue is my truck? No?
Always enjoy seeing your content good shots of the car👌👌🔥🔥 much love from HOTTER THAT A WITCHES TIT Texas 😂😂
I like the music in this video Tomley, yeah definitely wouldn't love to see a part 2 of this Famous WRC Subie
