Thanks for this amazing year of reviews. This year, on holiday, we went to Piamonte, and, was an incredible trip. We had visited some cellars, and the most beautiful visit was in the Dosio Vignetti, in La Morra. The visit was fantastic, and the taste, outstanding, formidable! Carlo, the host of our visit, was the best. And in the line-up of wines we could taste a Barolo from the 1974, what a beauty. Great memories from this travel, people, wine and beautiful landscapes.

My favorite 2023 wine experience was the visit of the Leyre-loup domaine in the Beaujolais. It was suppose to be a short wine tasting of there Morgon and Fleurie wines.
But what a visit!!!. We were welcome by the parents of the owner.
First, we had not only a visit of there domaine but also a visit of the famous " Cote de Puy" area.
Now I have a good understanding of the very complexity of the different Beaujolais soil.
Then mister Leyre-loup explain to my two daughters at his domaine the process how to make wine. It was just funny and great !
Last but not least, we were invite to dinner with them. We were suppose to have a "simple" dinner.
After 8 differents dishes, a lot of laughs, interesting talks and a great wine tasting of a lot bottes, a simple dinner has another definition for them.
This diner was also very emotional to me, not only because we had a great encouter with Miss and Mister Leyre-loup but because miss Leyre-loup has the same personality as my deceased grand-mother, who was an important person to me.
To me, what makes wine great are the encouters and sharing good bottles with friends, family and wine lovers.

My 2023 highlight happened this past summer in the Piedmont. My wife and I were having dinner at Osteria taStè in Barbaresco. This was definitely some of the best food we had on our month long trip, but what made the experience so memorable were our table neighbors. After chatting for the better part of dinner we discovered that one of them was a former mayor of Barbaresco and the other was a local winery owner. We discussed various wines in the area and they shared a Marziano Abbona Cinerino Lange Bianca which was quite tasty! This was such an amazing experience for us both and is why we love to travel and interact with locals every chance we get!

Agnese, I love the way you love what you do 👍❤🍷😊. My top wine is ORENO by Tenuta Sette Ponti. A 2008 ORENO was a gift from a colleague. Decided to open it up years later on my mothers 85th BD. It was super delicious and we really enjoyed it , slowly i might add savouring every sip. We have been enjoying ORENO every year since with this year in December being Mothers 92 BD. 2018 Vintage very nice but I think 2008 must have been a very special year/Vintage ...we are still experiencing the long finish LOL. Cheers to 2024 👋🍷

Thank you, Agnese for your work on this channel. Many wine geeks like myself who don't have the money or the credentials to visit wineries and wine regions often, this channel helps a lot in that regard, especially with the new podcasts. The growth of the channel is much deserved and we hope to have you around for much longer here on CZcams!
This year I've learned a fair bit, and I expect to rump up that mark for next year when I get into DipWSET! My best wine experience of the year are two, both recent, but I leave them here in case anyone likes a fun little story:
    1) I bought a 12 half-bottle case of wines from around the world at Costco, which replaces the conventional wine advent calendar for December. I've been tasting them all blind, working through the wine to see if I could get them. To my surprise, I've seen that my tasting notes are usually very closely aligned with the correct result even if I often ended up pointing somewhere else, which has given me a MASSIVE, much needed boost in confidence. A couple of days ago I funnelled all the way to a Pinot Blanc, which is a quite neutral variety, and it got me super excited for the next year!
    2) I had heard such alluring stories about Lacrima di Morro d'Alba, which I later discovered that it's produced in a remote wine region from Italy that ties back to an endearing personal story (nowhere near Alba in Piemonte!). I even DREAMED about opening that bottle I keep! Finally, I got to taste it one evening in Madrid, and it was one of those rare times when reality goes beyond high expectations. I began scribble down unusual, intriguing aromas which I then read about when learning more about the wine. Now I keep three bottles from different producers and I have no idea what to do with them! I should set up a tasting or something. I think I currently hold the biggest collection of Lacrima di Morro d'Alba in Spain 😂

Hi Agnes, big thanks for your videos in 2023, I'm already looking forward to what's coming in 2024! My favourite wine in 2023 was a Santa Giulia 2020 Merlot. Santa Giulia is located in Montalcino, where your favorite of 2023 wine comes from too. Love their Brunello's already for years, and the Merlot that is produced in small quantity was an excellent VFM discovery. I wish you a happy new year from Belgium and lot's of enjoyable wine discoveries in 2024. PS : If I should be lucky enough to win the hat, please sign it before shipping so it will be a real collectors item.

The best experience of my year was meeting the National Rep for Catena and going through her top tier samples. The room would disappear and it was just me and the notes of the wine in our own pocket dimension!
Argento Lot9 Pinot Noir was a bit of a life changer...
And recently, the Joel Delaunay La Voute Touraine Chenonceaux 22' I felt could transport me to a riverside picnic if I closed my eyes! I actually cried when I sold the last bottle of it.

I'm pretty new to wine so my top wine experience of 2023 might not be anything special by more experienced enthusiasts' or professionals' standards, but here we go...
My wife and I have really been enjoying inexpensive white wines from Portugal's Alentejo. Following several positive experiences, we decided to try the next step up on the quality ladder and bought a 2021 Esporão Reserva Branco. Initially, I was honestly a bit disappointed. The wine seemed a bit closed and, at the start, didn't offer much in the way of aromas or flavors that we hadn't already noted in entry level wines from the region. As the wine warmed in the glass though, it did open up more and became more complex, but I had still hoped for something more.
A little while after I had finished my last glass, I noticed a beautiful flavor on my palate that reminded me of concentrated lemon and propolis extract. It was such a beautiful and pure flavor that I started asking myself what I'd eaten that would have had that flavor. Then, I realized that I was still tasting the wine! It had been somewhere close to a solid minute since I'd taken my last sip. I'd never tasted a wine with a finish that long before so it wasn't even on my mind to pay attention that long after drinking; I'd completely missed this aspect of the wine while tasting it earlier. I quickly poured myself another half glass and, more slowly and thoughtfully than before, savored every second of the long, concentrated finish that the wine offered.
The way the wine rewarded thoughtfulness and continued focus on its flavors along with how it taught me what a long finish means makes this my favorite wine experience of 2023!
As always, thanks for the awesome content! I'm excited to see what you share in 2024 :)

Thank you for all the videos in 2023! My memorable moment is drinking the Catena Zapata Adrianna vineyard white stones chardonnay 2017. It’s minerally driven with taste of oyster shell and zest, smooth and layered. It is a good contrast to my favorite Leeuwin Art Series Chard which is more fruit focused with long length. Can’t wait to taste the Adrianna white bones chardonnay later in 2024!

Love your insightful videos! I’ve had lots of great wines from Australia, Burgundy, Champagne, Piedmont, Tuscany, Mosel and Rioja this year. However, my wine of 2023 is the humble 2020 Patrice Rion Cote de Nuits Villages V.V. pinot noir. Sharing it with friends by the forest in remote Japan was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. There was something magical drinking the wine amongst the scent of the wet forest, songs of the summer cicadas and of course, good company. Have a great year ahead No Sediment 🎉

Château La Clarière 2021. Don’t drink it when you open it. I carafed it over night, and the next day it was a delicious St Emilion wannabe but affordable. The oxygen gave the wine more body and deeper color! It was like a 96 pt Bordeaux. My discerning Francophile friends also loved it.

Hi Agnese, great experiences in 2023! In general, I like how you have your own style on CZcams compared to other wine channels, and you stand out from the rest! Each of your videos gives inspiration, whether it is to try a new wine, region, grape, plan a trip, do some reading etc. Great job, keep it up and cheers to more great experiences in 2024!
My best experience in 2023 was a visit and tasting before our wedding, at the Oenops winery (Drama, Greece) which wines have accompanied me and my husband throughout our relationship so far - in both "bigger" moments as well as the everyday, "small" moments. After drinking their wines so often, we visited for the first time, re-tasted all of them, and made a selection for the wines to serve at our wedding. It is beautiful how a single sip can bring back so many memories.

Happy New Year Agnese! My best wine experience of 2023 was discovering a small wine shop here in London that specialises in small growers from France. So every couple of weeks I’ll go in and ask for recommendations from the team to try out.

Kudos on a great year! Loved watching and learning through your all of your videos! I am definitely liking your new long-format podcasts to listen to the insights of winemakers, professionals critics, and Masters of Wine!
My favorite wine experiences this year have been Mini-Wine Flights--all of which were paired with our home culinary creations by my dining companion as the Chef and me as Sous Chef/"Beverage Director." This year, we enjoyed more specific themes like true horizontal tasting. The most memorable one was the same major grape/winery/vintage but different tier (entry vs. mid-level) because the quality (concentration, specificity of flavor categories/aromas, length) were noticeably different. Of course, our favorite flights involve comparing the same dish with different wines and/or beers!

Kudos to you for your high-energy and engaging style! The wine experience I most vividly recall is drinking the 2011 Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2011 from Rioja. There are two reasons for this total recall: 1) the wine is (was) spectacular; but 2) my wife and I, who never seem to agree on wine, were both smitten by this one! So, this wine is the great unifier!

Thanks you Agnese for your channel. It is always interesting.
My 2024 wine resolutions are visting Francois Chidaine domaine at Montlouis-sur-Loire.
His wines are just great and his 2016 "les Bourdais" was my 2023 greatest surprise.
My another 2024 wine resolution is (visiting Vienna with my family and) to discover Wachau producers and wines.
And this is thanks to you 😊😊😊

Hi Agnes! Thank you for another wonderful video and I would like to convey my best wishes and a great 2024 to you and the team! I have tasted a lovely collection of wines this year, ranging from Dido's La venus de Montsant and Lopez Heredia Rioja Vina Tondonia to Lynch Bages 2001 and Chateau Feuillet 2015, and many Barolo's and Brunello's aswell. All wonderful wines. But the best and most interesting wine I had this year was the 2010 Le Puy Cuvee Emilien during a little tasting which I hosted amoung friends. This wine starts with a lot of barnyard aroma's but after and hour it opens up wonderfully with many dried fruits, a lot of acidity and medium tannins. The wines of Le Puy are made how they were made a 100 years ago, and it shows! A truly stunning wine which is (unfortunately) mostly overlooked by many wine critics. I recently bought a couple of the 2015 vintage and I can't wait to taste them in a couple of years!

With your cap you have to taste more wines from the US. 😅. Anyway, as I am from germany it is a little bit harder to purcase wines from the state, but during christmas I opened a bottle 2017 Chardonnay Sanford & Benedict 32th vintage from Winemaker Jim Clendenen and it was an absolute blast. ...... Keep up the good work and all the best for 2024!

Hi Agnes, I'm Fabrizio from Italy, I live in Sardinia in the Catalan town of Alghero. I like "No Sediment" quite a lot and I hope to see a lot more in 2024. here in Sardinia there are many wineries but this year I tasted a white wine from Sella & Mosca estate which was in mine opinion a nice surprise: The wine is called Catore and is a 100% Torbato grape with a little percentage maturated in oak barrels. Nothing to compare with a Mersault wine of course but is worthy to try. Cheers and happy 2024

@@NoSediment My favourite Sardinian red wine (but not tasted this year) is Turriga from Argiolas winery. A blend of local grapes at their best:Cannonau, Carignano (those two originated in Spain..Garnacha tinta and Carinêna), Bovale and Malvasia nera. Not cheap but really a serious wine. If you find it in the US try it...Otherwise come to Sardinia😅

We got to taste it in our private tour and for new wine drinkers like us, I did not know wines could taste that good even though it was a young wine.

Hello Agnese, thank you so much for all your informative and passionate videos! You are so lucky to have had these experiences and thank you for sharing! I also like that you keep it somewhat budget friendly quite often. Please keep it up! To think of my favorite wine of 2023, I have to say it’s quite a big surprise (which I am even concerned a bit to give it away 😅), but well here goes… Hecula Monastrell (Mourvèdre, 100%) 2020 (2021?)!! I have drank Napa cabs, Bordeauxs (a wooden case of 4 but nothing too expensive but several of them came a close first there) even an Amarone and a Barolo (all under 50) in 2023, but I am still picking this! I have another Petit Sirah (Parducci, Ukiah, Mendocino) which could also go as both my best wine experience and wine of 2023. With the Monastrell, I think it was both the surprise factor of being blown away by a Monastrell, which I never expected, organic grapes and sustainably grown (always good to have best of both worlds but rarely works out!) and most of all the affordability (I really hope they keep it that way). I love big reds but to have such a big wine with such delicate aromas (and intense at times) was just amazing. I am indeed a big nose and that’s an important factor for me in any wine (and I mostly find that in Napa Cabs which aren’t the most affordable), medium acidity, rounded tannins, delicate spices on the nose I even got floral at times. Blew me away! Also goes to show the best wine for you doesn’t always have to be the most expensive one or the most renowned one. Of course there are many factors that make even a great wine not as great when you meet her, but so much of it is also a matter of chance (unless you drink at the winery 😅). Salud to a great 2023! I am trying to reduce and be more picky, let me see how it goes 😂

Love to see your highlights of 2023! My best experience was the following: the visit at Osteria Enoteca San Guido and tasting their wines alongside a matching tasting menu. As you can guess it was the Sassicaia that blew me away, especially because it was from 2020. I didnt expect such balance and finesse for this young age.

It's been so much fun this year watching your channel grow and evolve. Thank you for all the great lessons and info and inspiration! My favorite wine memories this year were about giving the gift of wine -- to my colleagues, friends, and to my brother. I loved being able to share my passion for wine with them, loved getting to know their tastes and then hearing their reactions to grapes and wines that hopefully opened something new for them. It's what makes this wine hobby so meaningful for me.

I have two best wines of 2023, both Italian, which I would not have predicted at the start of the year. The two were: Mascarello, 2011 Barolo; and, strangely given your top pick, a 2015 Brunello di Montalcino, Val di Suga (fortunately, the first of six). I haven't the wine vocabulary to describe them adequately but long, complex, multi-layered and memorable will have to do.
Happy New Year to you and yours. Looking forward to your videos in 2024. A 2014 Pouilly Fuissé and a 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape will be our wines of choice this New Year weekend.

I don't really have a favourite wine in 2023 or any other year for that matter. I probably learned a lot since I didn't know anything from before, but by and large wine is still a mystery to me. I'm always mulling over something and trying to make a personal wine map if you will, but so far I just don't know where I'm going.
Lately I've had a growing awareness of just how important context is for the enjoyment of wine, which I'm honestly a little shocked just how crucial it seems to be. As if wine wasn't difficult enough in and of itself, I now have to contend with the fact that the same wine isn't the same depending on mood and so on. My God.
I do have a favourite wine YT channel though, and yours is it. That was easy compared 😄 Happy New Year!

Laimīgu jauno gadu, Agnese! I had some nice wines this year (and there is a bottle of Bollinger for the new year's eve). The best ones were:
    - Royal Tokaji Aszú 6 puttonyos 2016
    - Murgo Tenuta San Michele Etna Bianco 2020
    - Péter Wetzer Kékfrankos PetiNat 2020
    - Château Vartely Individo Rara Neagra Sec Rosu 2019
    - Philipponnat Royale Réserve Non Dosé Champagne NV
so two Hungarians, one Moldovan, one Sicilian and one Champagne - of course it was influenced by the fact that I'm living in Budapest and traveled to Romania and Sicily.
your list was great too, except for the architecture of those Spanish aberrations - I hate modern architecture so give me any building in Raiņa or Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica bulvāris and just explode all these weird constructions. I even prefer a Hesburger building over them 😅
and you went by car from Azienda Agricola No Sediment to Bordeaux... the kind of thing that gives me interesting ideas on what to do on my next holidays. Budapest to Alsace, maybe?
