I started in Christianity in like 01. Started doing CHH in 04-05 & when yall talk about Black folks having to take off parts of our culture in order to be Christians you hit it SPOT ON. CHH went from Free Ministry in a local park with a sound stage to World wide paid tours with merch 😂 & we weren't "allowed" to rhyme about our experiences anymore. Hey Candace 👋🏾 you might not realize it, but telling me that you're "praying for me" is actually an admission of the powerlessness of prayer. If you really thought prayer was effective, you would not need to tell me about it. You could keep that information between you and god and just sit back and 'let him cook.' But, as it is, you must say something to me so that I know because otherwise, there would be zero effect of your praying upon me.... but now that I know, I can perhaps start to manipulate myself to believe that god is active in the world and upon me. It is, in reality, an attempt at manipulation and control. It also is quite condescending to communicate that I need what you believe you have, such that you must pray for me to get it. But I was once where you are, so i do "get it" ... in a sense. I just don't need it, nor do I want it. So, in kindness, please do not wish the illness of religion upon me. Doing so is not as kind as you think. 😔 Be well
⭐ 37:30 "Common Design" argument debunk. I had a list of things I wanted to address, several which we never got around to, so I didn't respond in length to Brady's "common design argument". Vestigiality is a single word that if investigated suffices to debunk the argument of common design. Darwin's tubercle is an often cited example. The fact that we can see homologous anatomical features with obvious purpose and functioning in near relative species is probably too elaborate of an argument to engage in on an episode designed to deal with everything from Thabiti to the Hebrew Israelite cult along with armchair biology. Look up Vestigiality on Wiki and there is a more complete discussion of it along with cited sources.
The gospel itself seeks to create a new identity. First a gets rid of the “old man with its propensity for sin”. And then it creates a new spirit inside the human body. This new spirit becomes the generator for the new identity. Christianity really claims to create a new species of human being that are beyond Jews and gentiles. Beyond Humans
Sounds good, but in 2000 years, we've not really seen this "newness" produce anything other than what regular humans create, i.e., a mixture of good, bad, and ugly. It would be a tad more convincing if these new humans showed up fully here and now, not in the hereafter. 🤷🏾
