“No amount of collective intelligence will cure human ignorance, and indifference to life”
Powerful words
And a very true statement
The video said this well I was reading
Couldnt be any more true for the world we live in this day and age .....who knows 10 years from now where we will be
Why would you want to cure such thing?
Do you seek to have the mind of God?
@@NothingHumanisAlientoMe That is quite a foolish leap you’re making there.
To answer your question - no, I would not desire the mind of God.
because the mind of God would far surpass anything even the most intelligent human could ever dream of comprehending.
Only a man of blinding ignorance and self-righteous pride could convince themselves of the illogical fallacy that a *created* being could ever stand toe-to-toe with *The Creator* (Que reference to Lucifer/satan’s fall in The Bible…)
Perhaps a better reframing of your question would yield a wiser answer - I would never want the mind of God, but I’d want the mind that would fulfill and honor what He intended me to have upon creating me.
One of the most unique and underrated horror movies out there.
Dude it has no horror at all, it's like Shutter Island, see it once and you're done after the reveal
i believe it is more of thrilling genre, not thriller like gore and blood but that chills you to the mental
So true
Geert Matthys Horror isn’t blood and gore.
Thanks Nightmare King Grim very cool
People reviewing this movie kept saying it was terrible. Ratings on the movie were also not that good. This proves that you can't trust anyone and you have to watch movies yourself. This is a great movie with a proper story, great soundtrack, and great cinematography.
Sounds like a great film I'm interested to see why the ratings and general opinion of the movie was so bad I'll be watching it tommorow
This film looks awesome! And it's rated low on RT
It had so many cheesy moments in the beginning but the story really picks up later on.
agreed.
To some extent I guess it’s seen as a cheesy riff on Shutter Island
I really enjoyed this film. There were multiple themes regarding health, toxic environments, and wealth versus happiness.
And how society can cause our unhappiness.
It's that good?
Yes sounds kind of like today's society
@@mrnobody6447 if you've got to ask you've got no morals honestly suggest making some morals

This movie was ahead of its time. Had it come out at the same time as Midsommar, I feel like it would have done much better in theaters. Such a beautiful film.
Yes!
What does Midsommar have to do with this film, just curious

Those eels are frightening and nightmare inducing
Aren't all Eels creepy tho
@@SnakeRoadComicsOfficial3677 depends where they are...

Yes. Thought they were borderline Lovecraftian...
Eels are tasty 😋

And he still has the eels in his stomach at the end of the movie, so he could potentially start it all over again.
Well the aquifer (and the eels it contains) survived the burning of the baron's estate the first time so I expect it survived the second time too. Anyone with knowledge of it's properties could start the process over again.
Do you guys remember what he said the medicine tasted like? 😆
sweaty seafood xD
Amirul Haeqal lol when he said it was like sweaty seafood I was like, “that’s probably not a good sign” 😝

His organization would’ve been caught a long time ago. Hundreds, maybe thousands of rich people go there and wind up missing, would definitely cause some kind of investigation.
@@jellyfishi_ If it came to making normal or poor people disappeared. But hundreds of rich people have connections of their own.
Sounds like something the SCP foundation would see dismantled by judicious use of MTF forces
Well if rich people of an older age choose to live out the rest of their years in this exclusive spa then they would die at said spa eventually right? And since only rich people go there in the first place it’s marketed so that it wouldn’t be suspicious. I could be wrong tho.

As a former member of an executive management: extreme stress and toxic environments will kill you physically and mentally
This is not true it will only kill you mentally

The smile Lockheart did is basically me when I beat a hard game or when you make a new video
Lol
thats me when i stole a candy from a baby and watch it cry
I don't know about the ending on this one, I always interpreted the smile as more malicious in that his ambition has gotten the better of him, he knows "the cure for wellness" and being that power hungry person he is will likely do everything in his power to abuse it. Love your interpretation though keep up the great work!
Luggs Yeah same, that smile is wayyy too sinister for me.
It's interpretations like these that make me think Niat is a little too artsy in his analysis. He's the Freud of movies. And sometimes it is what it is.
Reaper_ExD I don’t think that is bad thing though honestly. To basically quote my English teacher, I enjoy what others think about things; Sometimes they think of things I never would of. I like his interpretation and honestly 95% of the time I’m with him. I also like to physcoanalyze films and find deeper meanings and themes, a lot of films like Midsommar don’t really work well if you only take them at a basic level. I feel as Nait is here seeing the good inside of him and believing that he won’t return to his ambitious ways whereas the rest of us realize our protagonist isn’t much of a good guy at all.
@Hi, I exsist. I like that point of view. Honestly never thought of it that way. Im always a person who is very blunt and straight forward. Maybe i should learn to appreciate the symbolism people find in the arts like Niat. Thank you for your words.
@@reaper_exd7498 Hello, just wanted to wish you guys the best. It always makes me extremely happy when there's sincere conversation and gratitude within the comments section. This method of communication is EXTREMELY vast, yet all too often it devolves into the equivalent of angry eight year olds arguing over cake. It's wonderful to see the tool actually used as intended, and even more wonderful to see folk who appreciates the device but even more so appreciate each other.
Best wishes, thanks for helping me keep hope in our daily experiences. I'm very sick, been awake since 2 AM, it's nearly 8 AM now, and I should be in bed. Take care everybody, I'm so glad to know there are people out there who genuinely do care about each other and others' thoughts. That respect hasn't become a thing of the past just yet.
Vulmar's face was burned and that's why it looked like that. Not because of the youth preserving vitamins.
Then why was his skin green?
I thought it was a mutation
@@mrsnobody309 neh. He was almost burned alive in a fire. The longevity giving eels allowed him to survive, but did not actually heal his face.
@@joyruppert4710 lol it's not green. Maybe the lighting was weird in a scene?
Um no... they are showing you that the Elite are reptilian hybrids.
Its a BIG universe out there... and this planet is a prized jewell with a bunch of pesky dumb humans on it to be exploited.
The TV series V also depicted the reptilian incursion, but in a different way.
Prince Charles is related to Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler) the inspiration for Count Dracula... think about that!
The “warm metal tubes” that people are put in, with their head sticking out are old-fashioned iron lungs. These were ventilators before ventilators existed.
Such a great film. The cinematography gets all the love but the sound design and score are also absolutely brilliant. Also overlooked are the various classic fairytale elements and ancient symbolism. The princess locked in the tower, the tyrannical father, the walled garden atop the hill, there's a lot more going on than just the surface narrative...
"Think of it, as..a cleaning of the mind"
*Puts eels in his tank*
As someone who has lived through a few cases of toxic environments, I can say without a doubt that sometimes the thing that's making you sick is the people around you. Toxic mindsets and behaviors can do horrible things to the mind, and in turn, become physical illnesses; once you get out of the cesspool, then you can find your 'cure.'
I saw this movie a year ago because I heard that its the "Bioshock movie we never got".
I enjoyed it. Your video really helps to understand it.
I saw it more like Amnesia - Dark Descent.
Torture begetting lifeforce begetting steampunk concentration camp chicanery, led by pseudo-vampires in their european castle.
With those fake teeth Dane DeHaan looks like a younger, creepier Dylan Baker (Happiness and most recently Hunters). It’s definitely unsettling!
I really enjoyed the movie. The atmosphere was well thought out. The squeaky walking stick in the sauna.. I thought the true face reveal was kinda crappy.. But over all was a good movie
3:56 "To find his goldfish has died."

Dane DeHaan is an amazing actor and a severely underrated Harry Osborn.
I think it would take a second viewing or more for someone to understand the other theme of this movie. I thought that the villain was able to transfer his essence to the protagonist when the latter smiled while biking at the end.
Wasn’t this film supposed to be the Bioshock Movies that got cancelled ?

Another great one FilmComicsExplained.
I really liked this movie. It's a gothic slow-burn with great performances. Losing his way in the baths is one of my favorite horror movie scenes ever because it's so unexpected, and dream-like, yet perfectly in tone with the plot. Mia Goth is basically Shelly Duvall without eyebrows! I'm joking, but she's a really a good actor and, like David Bowie, she looks otherworldly, so she fits creepy horror movies perfectly. It also has a little James Bond feel to it, in the whole set-up to an exclusive (evil) retreat, which is built into Thunderball as well. It's really quite good, and well done.
When it comes to movies, especially horrors (Psychological horror in this case) I'm VERY hard to please. But this film absolutely blew my head off! It was brilliant!
Trivia, the chateau they filmed in was abandonned for many years so they made it looked lived in for the movie. It's an incredible place to visit on Urban Exploration sites.
pretty good Lovecraft movie.
Was this based on lovecraftian work ?
wolf bane bioshock got inspired from the atmosphere of lovecraftian. Lovecraft is not always about monsters, it’s mostly focus on the fear of unknown and the mentally horror psychological
I'm sure its a good film and now i've watched this quicker version i thank you so much. I feel as if i've watched the whole thing and you've saved me so much time, Brilliantly done thank you.
I'm so happy this had a happy ending. If it didn't I would've probably cried my eyes out.
I have been quite fascinated with the film ever since I saw the first previews. I saw it in the theater when it came out. I bought it as soon as it was available for purchase. I've seen it a few times. You got all the factual details of the story correct, but I disagree with your interpretation of the meaning. That is not a peaceful smile on his face at the end. The thing I've been most interested in the the meaning of the symbols. The water and the eels being the most prominent. I read these not as meaningless elements of the story but as symbolic. Why eels? Although, yeah the meaning of the dead fish in the bowl at the beginning, I agree with you about the meaning of that. Nice to see anyone making a video about this movie. I was surprised it was not more widely viewed then it was. It's a very strange, very compelling film. Thanks for the video, even if I disagreed with some of your interpretations
And that is how you disagree properly
Take notes people

That was a tough one.... the music was difficult to understand and so was this video. I usually watch FCE to make sense of films lol. Good job Nieve!
I was working at the movies still when this came out. Got 2 free tickets a day so what the hell. I loved this movie, I watched it with a friend but still felt so alone watching it. It was amazing. Underrated
I was always confused about the smile at the end so thank you. Your explanation makes sense
I loved this movie. Had one of the most consistently creepy atmospheres I can recall since the days of Mario Bava. The film felt like a throwback to Hammer and other horror films from the 1960s, but done with modern CGI-technology. I was sorry to see the film do so poorly at the boxoffice. My only gripe was that some of the elements they touched on, that were so creepy, like the teeth falling out, were sort of skipped over.
Wasn't the doctor's face disfigured by the fire? That's why his face was all bandaged in that really old picture Lockhart finds with Hannah in it I thought?
Absolutely agree. What a fascinating concept and film.
this movie was so underappreciated and underrated
The first time I watched this I almost throw up because it's really disgusting on the part that the eels got into his body travelling to a tube that push down to his throat... 😫😫😫😨😰🤮🤮🤮
But overall this is a really unique movie and really a great one!!
Even though this is a an underrated movie...
holy crap, im actually a regular guest at the hotel (ex-wellness center) in davos that the story is based on! nowadays it is mainly used for hiking and skiing. it's called schatzalp and they sell the "the magic mountain" books there, though in german.
