The number one unwritten rule in American football is to protect the quarterback which is why many of those hits that involved the QB resulted in brawls.
The soccer comparison to these hits are horror tackles...illegal and frequently meant to hurt the opponent. Also, like a bad tackle in soccer, they frequently result in the player being ejected.
I would say a comparison is if a player takes out the goalie in soccer
Well also some of these are blatant attempts to injure the player. I remember that game where that guy picked up Jim McMahon and body slammed him after the play with the full intent of injuring him and getting him out of the game. Personally they shouldn’t just be ejected when they do that they should be banned for life. There is absolutely no excuse for things like that. It’s straight on cheating and the most vile form of it I can imagine.
Those o- line boys protect the qb like a little brother. You want to be dirty? My 325 lb self is gonna get you
I agree yet some of these hits on QBs when they do their slide is at the last second when the defenseman is coming all out at them, how the hell they going to stop? Yes there are cheap shots in this video with others that aren’t IMO.
At one point my husband started calling out all the legal problems players were up for; wife beating, domestic abuse, use of guns, drugs up the kazoo...it was always something horrific. He announced he was done watching felons making millions stomping on one another.
He took up watching college ball and never looked back. A wise decision, that.
Roll Tide! I agree NFL is causing waaaay too many problems nowadays- for dozens of reasons.
Of course I do! They just seem to have lesser problems that don't involve killing people or being so terribly entitled.

Fear=Weakness.
Weakness=Defeat.
Most guys absolutely want to inflict pain because it's a massive physical & psychological advantage but most still want to do it within the rules as much as possible because the overall objective is still to win the game & doing it outside the rules can cause you to lose if you get carried away. Of course, when you're pushing the envelope at speed with top-tier physical specimens things are going to happen whether on purpose or just as a result of simple misjudgments, last second unexpected movements of your opponent or just not having the proper awareness in the moment because of the chaotic nature of what is occurring around you.

There are three common threads with the incidents on this video. 1. The player is a known bad actor like Vontez Burrifect. 2. The teams are division rival, the Vikings and Packs, and Bears and Packers are longstanding rivalries 60 and 100 years old respectively, and they play their division rival twice a season, this means there are long standing team and personal grudges, this engenders bad behavior. 3. a number of these incidents were the year that they changed the rules, and previously(admittedly dangerous) play that was fully legal was then and now illegal, it generally takes two or three seasons for defensive players to fully adjust to new rules.
I love hard hits, but hate cheap shots; they diminish the game. Love your channel. Keep up the great work.

because of the importance of the QB to the team as they are basically the captain and star player in one, they get special treatment. Like you see with them sliding, when they do this it basically means "don't touch me I'm going down, don't want to be slammed into the dirt and get injured". So when they get hit after doing that the entire team is pissed at the other for doing that and fighting usually ensues.
I loved this reaction, I especially loved that part where you started to say something about what you might do if some of these things happened to a teammate of yours but then you obviously have cut out whatever you said lol. But I think we all could probably guess lol. I have never laughed so hard at an obvious edit before in my life lol. Nice Kabir, very nice lol!

Some rivalries get very ugly simply because the teams despise each other so badly. They just try to hurt each other. Feelings are heightened. The Steelers & Browns/ Steelers & Ravens have some of the worst.

I wouldn't say they're psychopaths. Players often react or not think at all. Steelers/Ravens was always mutual respect despite the how physical the games were. Steelers/Bengals was pure hatred. Bengals have little brother syndrome.
The NFL has gotten much better about protecting players from these cheap shots and shots at the head, but if you go look at older clips of what used to be considered great hard hits, a lot of them are hits to the helmet.
A lot of defenders complain about how "soft" football has gotten and how many restrictions they have now. It's not that easy to stop anything when you're going full speed, including tackles, but defenders are expected to do just that now and it's mostly bc of the dirty players like Burfict, Suh, Romanowski (the dirtiest player ever), and Harrison who didn't care one bit about the safety of the offensive player they were going after.
I remember as kid being told that if you go across the middle as a wide receiver, you should expect to be hit, even if you don't catch the ball. And there's no point in being scared and not catching the ball if you're gonna get hit anyway.
Also Steve Smith Sr was amazing
To be fair, I've seen a lot of "late hits" that you have to play in slow motion to see that it was a late hit. Playing it in real time speed, it all happens in less than a blink of the eye and its impossible to change the direction of your body to not hit someone. You know how many times I've watched Tom Brady throw the ball in the middle of getting tackled and they call it a late hit? At times its just ridiculous.

I played quarterback on 3 levels about 20 years ago. I will say that offensive lineman are the most underappreciated players on the field. From 4th grade through college, those dudes had my back no matter what. I love seeing guys go to war when a QB gets jacked up. I played safety as well so I could dish it, but I didn't need to on offense, my boys took care of me haha

Ones where the punt returner is looking up at the sky trying to catch the ball and gets leveled always make me cringe. Punt returner is a scary position sometimes. I remember when I was like 14 my teammate had his arm broken on a dirty play when he was returning a punt, and my coach put me at punt returner on the re-kick the moment he left for the hospital 😅
My freshamn year of high school one of the senior teammates timed it up perfectly and hit the punt returner as he caught it sadly he still got tossed. Thankfully nobody was hurt.
Just starting the video, but before getting into it I'm just guessing the Rob Gronkowski pile drive on Tre'davious White will be on here. That was horrid, and I'm a Patriots fan.

Also, they missed a super obvious one and it's not too long ago. Vikings QB Teddy Bridgewater was sliding to the ground and Rams safety Lamarcus Joyner dove in like a missile, hit Bridgewater directly in the head and caused him a nasty concussion.
The Bridgewater hit was on there, I guess you missed it. However it is missing Jack Tatum's paralyzation of Darryl Stingley.

I was barely paying attention, then I heard you say "ah pushing his head into the grass, oh he kicked him too..."
I looked up because I knew it had to be about Ndamukong Suh. He played for my team the lowly Detroit Lions, and yes he was maybe the dirtiest player in the NFL.
Edit: I wrote this comment before watching all of the video. Suh also was the guy standing with all of his weight on Aaron Rodgers ankle that he already had injured earlier in the game.

Yeah, in the NFL, the rules state that if a player has the ball, & is down on the ground, then all the other team has to do is touch him, & the play is dead. Just touch him, not pile into him. And, you can't hit a player that doesn't have the ball. So, hitting someone before they have possession is illegal. And no, you don't hit someone in the endzone after they've scored, or someone out of bounds.
You can, however, block a player that doesn't have the ball. That really throws off the rugby guys.
You forget that when it comes to rivalry games the players don't care about doing it clean. They want to destroy their rivals. Especially the long time rivalries

Greg Lloyd #95 for the Steelers! One of my favorite players from back in the day. There was a huge sign that was hung up by fans at every home game: Avoid the Lloyd!! The man was a black belt in Tae Kwon Do which he teaches now. Under his game jersey, he wore the same t-shirt which read "I wasn't hired for my disposition"!! The other one, Steelers #58.... Jack Lambert. My favorite LB. You can find videos on You Tube about Jack. He's in the Hall of Fame, nuff said!

Vontaze Burfict (the guy that was blowing kisses) had a long history of dirty hits. He was suspended for the year after the hit in this video. He became a free agent in 2020 and no team will touch him, career over.

There have always been 'dirty' players in the NFL, but Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley, and Vontaze Burfict took it to a whole different level.
Dude those guys don't even compare to Bobby "Night Train" Lane, Dick Butkus, Jack Tatum or the entire Steelers and Raiders defenses from the 70s.
Kabir there was a player named Dante Hall he got his career cut short cuz of a horsecollar tackle (means grabbing inside the pads by the neck & throwing them down) sadly it broke his neck luckily it didn't kill him but ruined his career in 2009 & the player on the Bengals was only fined $15,000 & suspended only 2 games but his career was ended

6:40 The guy who made the hit was Vontaze Burfict. He's one of the dirtiest players in recent memory. He has a history of breaking player safety rules, and he's been suspended for 22 games and has racked up over $5 million dollars worth of fines and forfeited salary.
He is also the one who hit Antonio Brown at 11:01 and gave him a big concussion and CTE

That Antonio Brown one wasn’t intentional. He was trying to hurdle the tackler & the guy changed direction & kind of fell backwards to make the tackle instead of staying going forward.

There were things that went on during games played in the 1960's & 1970's that makes some of the incidents in this video look like kids playing on a playground. Two particularly notorious players were Fred "The Hammer" Williamson of the Kansas City Chiefs & Conrad Dobler of the St. Louis Football Cardinals (now Arizona Cardinals). You compared some things to WWE, but AEW is much more physical & violent than WWE. This past Wednesday night, the main event on AEW Dynamite was a Texas death match that involved tables, chairs, trash cans, barbed wire & a folk as weapons with considerable blood.
Dobler is up there with Butkus, Tatum and "Night Train" Lane for some the dirtiest players ever.

You do have to realize when you’re saying it’s a really late hit on the QB and they have time to pull up and not hit them, THEY ARE RUNNING FULL SPEED, you’re watching it in slow motion there’s a big difference in time between a release of a pass and the hit in real time and in slow motion.🤦🏼♂️the QB’s are men just like the rest of the league, idc if they’re a “vital” part of an nfl offense, expand the roster to get more QB’s and quit paying them so much and they won’t have such a big head. At one time the coaches would encourage there players to hurt as many of the opponents as possible. My father told me at one time that a Chicago bears coach always told his player that if we can’t win, hurt them. It was a very brutal sport, still can be life altering but the refs are clamping down.
I remember watching an NFL video from the seventies when I coach told his players to knock snot bubbles out out of the other team's players noses..

Odell went for the guy's head. Back in the 70's it was called "head hunting" and it was brutal but flags were rare. Now if you look at a guys helmet too long they throw a flag.

Grom the beggining of the game till the late 80's, those were perfectly legal hits. We were tought as kids " Put a hat on Somebody or you will feel my boot in your ass!" And that was from our Moms. Coaches were a bit more graphic. If we didn't put a hst om someone or stopped before the whistle blew, we would feel that boot from Mom, a jnuckle on the head from Dad and a slap on the face from Coach. It made a yellow hanky that much easier to take. If someone got hurt, Welcome to Football kid!.. Rhw plat Kanasta on the next field over.
My high school team didn't consider it a real game, til two players left the field to go to the hospital.

Video leaves out the biggest cheap shot in NFL history. Check out Jack Tatum's hit on Daryl Stingley. Stingley was paralyzed from the hit. Jack Tatum had the nickname of "The Assassin" for a reason.

Bears v Packers, not surprised there are some dirty hits there. One of the oldest, if not the oldest rivalry in the NFL. Both teams have been playing for over 100 years. They're 2 of the 3 oldest NFL teams. Packers were founded in 1919, Bears in 1920, and the Cardinals is the oldest team founded in 1898. The NFL was originally the American Professional Football Association, and was founded in 1920.
There are older rivalries such as Yale v Princton (1873) and Norwich Free Academy Wildcats vs New London High School Whalers (1875).
The Cardinals are probably originally named after the color, rather than the bird that's on their emblems. In 1901 they purchased used uniforms from the University of Chicago. Chris O'Brien referred to the faded uniforms as being "Cardinal Red" and they became the Racine Street Cardinals. Before that they were the Racine Normals, (They played at Normal FIeld on Racine Street in Chicago) and before that Morgan Athletic Club.
I’m surprised more of these guys didn’t end up paralyzed with all of these helmet to helmet hits. It’s scary. Some of these guys are clearly just roided up jerks.
Some of these players are just plain mean and nasty.. with heavy doses of adrenaline
6:40 Vontaze Burfict is one of the dirtiest players in the NFL. He has a history of cheap shots, some even game changing. See Steelers vs. Beagles when he knocked out Antonio Brown. Which lead to the Steelers winning with 18 seconds left.

Norman and Beckham had been going at it all game, it's 35-7 and he was trying to basically just give Norman a concussion by just going for his head at the end of the play. Also being a kick/punt returner is the most dangerous job!

In all honesty the worst hit I’ve ever seen was Patrick Willis hit on brad smith. The hit wasn’t even flagged too.
There's an argument to be made against fighting in hockey but it does help keep a lot of the dirty stuff to a minimum and offers a release to tensions. I didnt play football in high school but I played lacrosse in college and the biggest hit I ever took was when I jumped in the air to catch a pass and a guy about 6 inches taller then me laid me out. I got somersaulted backwards and by the time I got my bearings everyone was on the other half of the field. lul
