When Frances told Demelza to stop believing someone did her a favour letting her into the Poldark family, I cried. It was the best and kindest thing Frances ever said or did in the entire series.

I loved how complicated their relationship was. It wasn't easy and we saw the hardships and it was better than a lovey dovey one. Demelza was strong through it all

My favourite character in this series is definitely Demelza! I love her as a character and I love Eleanor for the succesfull portrayl of her! I'm gonna miss Poldark very much! 😭❤❤

I'mma say it now, Demelza is an absolute SAINT for putting up with Ross' shenanigans and never telling her what he's up to, or listening to her. She learnt how to deal with his stubborness by standing her ground and the way she dealt with his infidelity, WOW!! truly a character development over the show, from a young girl to a lady of the manor, wife, mother, sister and friend. Love her!
Reshme Subramaniam don’t forget rhat a woman did not have much to say at the time, her husband was lord and master and she had to obey him. As far as that was concerned, Ross was “ pretty nice” to her.
Her character is brilliant and beautiful.
What I found great was how he finally asked her opinion about what to do at the end of the series. He had quite a bit of character development himself! :) And btw, Aidan Turner is QUITE the actor. I saw him in _The Lieutenant of Inishmore_ two years ago in London, and he had to do everything from cry to die. He never flubbed a line, had perfect comedic timing, and made me wonder if he really was dead at the end since I couldn't see him breathing! I loved the 70s _Poldark,_ but I have to say, this one grabbed me even more than that one did, thanks to both Aidan Turner and Eleanor Tomlinson, as well as the other male eye candy in the cast. :) What a great, great production!!

I never saw Ross punishing Demelza in the show.
In Outlander, Jamie spanked Claire with his belt for disobeying her but he regretted it after Claire distanced herself from him.
I like when he swears to her to never raise her hand against her again, but I cracked up when they had sex right after that and Claire threatened him with a knife and told him that she would cut out his heart if he ever laid a hand on her in violence again.
I love both Poldark and Outlander.
I like Poldark more.
I think it's the imperfect,complex couple that I like.
it's not a fairy tale romance.

I'm reading the eighth novel of the Winston Graham series and one of the characters, Stephen Carrington, said it best about Demelza: Mrs. Poldark for a beautiful woman is about the least conceited woman I've ever met, almost unaware after all these years and still a little surprised when a man's eyes light up with admiration.
Elizabeth was a beauty but she did not possess the genuine inner beauty and warmth displayed by Demelza.

I will miss this show a lot. It was one of my favorites because of the era. Bittersweet farewell.

One of the profound "teachable moments" of this series is the portrayal of a maturing love and seasons of love a couple shares. For this alone creates value in this series for both the young and the old who are open to what a life of love , sharing, family, failure, successes, and challenges create. It is an expose' of the human condition when two people share their lives. Bravo cast and crew!! From a 54 yo who's been through a lot in life (my father has had 8 wives, married my mother twice) and I have been married 26 years to my lifelong love. We have shared life-threatening illness of children, loss of others .... So blessed and living in gratitude .
So we’ll said! I’m 55 and have been married 31 years. I have never crushed on a character or television show before I discovered Demelza. I think I feel so connected because my wife has tolerated my shortcomings throughout our marriage.

in lockdown decided to rewatch the series (nothing else to compare) and feel Eleanor's brilliantly portrayed Demelza is the central character, enhancing Aidan's role of Ross. Without her, his portrayal wouldn't have had the same impact because it comes down to the story of the two of them - how they overcame various obstacles in their relationship that their love endured which (IMO) was what attracted the viewers to the storyline. Enjoying it even more this time around.

Demelza is my favorite character on Poldark. Ross can annoy me at times especially when he takes her for granted. I think he is ever suprised by how deeply he loves her but unfortunately it's only when he is on the brink of losing her
Where did you think the drama was going to come from if not from the title character? Did you expect him to be Mr. Perfect? No, he was Mr. Poldark, with the emphasis on dark. :)

Je viens tout juste de découvrir cette série (mardi, 24 janvier 2023) et j'ai regardé les trois saisons(en français) disponibles, que j'ai terminé aujourd'hui (mercredi, 25 janvier 2023)... et j'apprends ici qu'ils en sont à 6 saisons!!?!? OMG, mais qu'est-ce qu'ils foutent avec les traductions, si ça se trouve, je terminerai de regarder cette fabuleuse série seulement dans 10 ans!!🤔....😂🤣

Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Farthing, of the Wonderful Poldark Fame, have made a new film (love, Wedding, Repeat), on Netflix, It is Brilliantly Funny, also, Aidan Turner has made new films, worthy of watching. Would love to see more Poldark , but not very likely under the current Crisis!

I agree. Eleanor is phenomenal! Aidan is a good actor too but I hated the fact that he whipped his shirt off in the scything scene and totally ruined the point of it. Eleanor (Demelza) looks beautiful and just a little raise of her eyebrow as she is watching him says a lot. Eleanor is subtle and brilliant. Also, Elizabeth comes riding in the background and as we all know...is forever in the background of the relationship.
Btw, I've seen Aidan in "And Then There Were None" and Desperate Romantics and the man is not adverse to showing off his bod. He is a good actor but lets face it some people dont see much beyond the physical. Too bad.

I support Eleanor Thomlinson (she appeared in Sarah Jane Adventures) to be the next companion for Doctor Who to replace Dan and the long serving companion Yaz joining with Jodie Whittaker (13th Doctor) on 2022 specials before introduce to a new showrunner and an all new 14th Doctor to make Doctor Who better again.
She should’ve played Jamie and Claire’s Daughter on Outlander.

Yes, Ross said Elizabeth was an idealized love...but Demelza was his true love, he could not live without her
The whole central theme, besides the evils of war, was Ross's being torn by his love for two women. He really only gained a complete perspective on all this after Elizabeth died. Then he could see how she really wouldn't have been the best choice for him after all, and I think he appreciated and loved Demelza more than ever.

In the books she was 13 yo when they meet
It's been nearly three years since this video has been posted, but I want to express my disappointment that none of the other characters got one. She's actually not everyone's favorite character. (Definitely not mine.) And I know for a fact that there would have been other comments expressing the same thing, if it weren't for toxic Eleanor/Aidanor fans who would just get angry at them.
But now, I'm kind of old hat when it comes to those fans, so now I can speak freely. This favoritism towards Demelza is what turns me off from Poldark. This video is just further proof that she is the one you HAVE to worship! Literally Demelza and Eleanor are constantly protected from any form of negativity. Meanwhile, all the other cast members, like Heida had to deal with hatred over her CHARACTER (who deserved a video like this.)
But who gets lauded as the hero? Demelza, ofc. Because she's mainstream. Nevermind that Ross is actually the main character and yes, deserved a video of his best. And before someone comes at me for Ross cheating on Demelza, she cheated on Ross...TWICE, out of spite for him.
But of course, she's the only character that gets a video. Not Caroline, who was iconic! Not Dwight, who was a saint! Not Verity! No videos about Drake and Morwenna! Not the complicated story of George! No, just Demelza.
Well said!! I am so tired of Demelza/Eleanor being seen as the main character of the show and someone you HAVE to worship. Without her, the show/story written by Winston Graham, would be just as good, and maybe even better. Why is there only compilations of her while we have Ross, Dwight, Caroline, Elizabeth, Morwenna, Drake, Sam and SO MANY OTHERS? It's not fair. Demelza is definitely not everyone's favourite🤷🏼♀️

Why did anyone think there was a point in remaking this after the version with late Angharad Ress & Robin Ellis? Not even curious! Surely there are novels worthy of a screen version that haven't been done (well) yet?
Demelza never described herself as fierce. That’s a silly term we use now because it’s supposed to be better than kind or gentle (but that’s feminist lie).
