I met Sir Bob Geldof when he came to Australia.
Beautiful. There were very wonderful times. I won't forget...
Bob had a lot of good songs but this is simply one of the best songs ever has been written.
I hear a heart beat
It's ringing out across the Universe
It sounds so lost and lonely
Must come from somewhere deep inside of us
And the operator says
"All is calm and all is quiet
Close your eyes, sleep tonight"
This is the world calling
This is earth
This is the world calling
This is us
I'm on a train now
I'm moving through the yellow fields of rape
There's so much beauty
I wished that I believed enough to pray
Then the operator replied
"Spinning 'round, you're wrapped in blue
There's no one looks as good as you"
This is the world calling
This is us
This is the world calling
This is us
This is the world calling
This is us
And it goes on and on
What we gonna to do because it cannot go on?
So, wrap me, come and get me because it cannot go on?
So, wrap me in your arms and baby keep me warm tonight
What we gonna to do because it cannot go on?
So, wrap me, come and get me because it cannot go on?
So, wrap me in your arms and baby keep me warm tonight
This is the world calling
This is us
This is the world calling
This is us
This is the world calling
This is us
This is the world calling
God help us
And it goes on and on
Where all is calm and all is quiet
Close your eyes, sleep tonight
(This is the world )
All is calm and all is quiet
Close your eyes, sleep tonight
(This is the world calling)
All is calm and all is quiet
[Incomprehensible]
(This is the world calling)
and that is you
There's no one else as good as you
(This is the world calling)
World calling

Beautiful song❤love Bob Geldof
Bob is a man with a soul. It runs in his music
1986 I was zapping radio stations to hear my favourite songs over and over
After David Bowie, Brian Ferry and David Sylvian, Bob is my favorite singer ever .....
I live next to him
Have loved this song for over 30 years but today is the first time I've seen this great video. A very underrated song and a terrible shame it didn't get the recognition it richly deserved.
Bang on!
Just a great song, especially in these horrible covid times.
Aaaahhh 1986. I remember seeing this video on a Saturday morning tv show - love this song :)
Best Tune ever from Mr. Live Aid. Have this on Vinyl 45 rpm. No Decade was better then the 80s !! Now i am 52 y.o. !!! Great Job !!
yes its sure was the best decade, i wish i would have experienced it.
I have it too in vinyl, 45 rpm, 12 inches, radio edit, it's a double side A
SPECTACULAR SONG, ONE SONG OF MY LIFE FOREVER, THE GREAT BOB GELDOF, (THIS IS THE WORLD CALLING), THANKS MISTER AND MONSTER OF THE MUSIC BOB GELDOF FOR YOUR GREAT GREAT GREAT CONTRIBUTION TO THE MUSIC TO MY LIFE, AND OTHERS GREATS CIRCUNSTANCES, SIMPLY THANKS MORES THANKS BOB, FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER FOREVER, 🎤🎤🎤🎤🎸🎤🎤🎤🎤
Such a superb almost forgotten gem from Bob attached to the Live Aid project and produced by Dave Stewart who also played guitar With the Edge playing guitar also , Larry Mullins jnr and Clem Burke on drums and Annie Lennox and Bono on backing vocals ! No wonder it is a world class track!
Bono ? 😂 Alison Moyet, Annie Lennox and Maria Mkcee
WOW. Hadn't heard this in almost 35 years. It's funny because The Boomtown Rats' "I Don't Like Mondays" is one of my all-time favorite songs and Bob Geldof was such a huge part of my teens because of Live Aid, yet I had completely forgotten about this one. And it's still great. An upside of being self-quarantined because of coronavirus is that you have plenty of time to rediscover lost or forgotten gems from your youth. Thank heavens for CZcams!
Why was Bob so incredibly good-looking?!?!😍
Yes
My mums been in his house and met him lol
Very nice !!
Can you imagine that one person in this world listening to this gorgeous and wonderful song everydays from getting up in the morning until going to bed in the evening without a break and this over a period for one year straight - huh????? No????? But I did it and I must say it was gorgeous and awesome - especially because I was dreaming about to fly the fascinating and astonishing Boeing 747-400LCF Dreamlifter and this song is dedicated from me to be the song for this very special aircraft which I love so very much ✈️🤗👍👑💝 Thank you so much for this gorgeous and wonderful song and have a wonderful and peaceful day and enjoy your time and stay safe out there and take care of you and your family and stay blessed and happy and healthy in these times right now and lovely greetings from Sarah 🙋♀💖😍✈️🤗👍👑💝
Grazie.....
I was reading the Wikipedia article about this album, and it turned up a suprise (for me, at least).... The female vocals on this song are by Annie Lennox, Alison Moyet, and Maria McKee. Close your eyes and listen, and you'll hear it (the women shown "singing" in the video are not the ones actually singing on the track).
Wow thanks for the info
Yup!!!! Could definitely hear Annie Lennon.
Spoilt for choice back then hey.
Virginia viola I think it rather has to do with Bob Geldof's reach into the music community at the time. The album this track is from was released in late 1986, a year after Live Aid, and two years after "Do They Know It's Christmas" with Band Aid (two of Geldof's most notable projects in the 1980's). Re-reading the Personnel list for the same album, I see David A. Stewart (Annie Lennox's partner in Eurythmics), Eric Clapton, Midge Ure (from Ultravox), and Bono (from U2), among others. And this was after these people were already famous on their own (or with thir bands).
NeonNero David A Stewart was a busy man! Apart from his seminal achievements with Annie Lennox, he was working with everyone! The soundtrack for Lily Was Here is awesome, and I own a copy. He was also lending his talents to Jimmy Iovine, writing with Tom Petty ( he makes a guest appearance in Don’t Come Around Here No More, a song that the threesome are alleged to have stolen from Stevie Nicks, and based on a conversation she had with Joe Walsh..who by the way, was surreptitiously packed up and sent off to Australia by said threesome, to get him away from Stevie lol), and he still works with Stevie to this day. In 1991 I bought a compilation album called The Gun Hits, solely because The Great Song of Indifference was included in the tracks. Bob is a Libran, like me, and Lennon, and Mahatma Ghandi, and Oscar Wilde..and Friedrich Nietzsche..we are blessed with a pretty effective BS meter, and a way with words, and terrible love lives. My deep gratitude to Bob dates from 1983, when he literally saved my life. As much as he doesn’t think much of the part, his depiction of Pink in The Wall ( and my Floyd fandom dates from when Syd was still Pink Floyd), saved my life, pulled me out of a very deep depression, and my one and only suicide attempt..the evolution from deeply depressed with a good dose of weltschmerz ( don’t the Germans just have the best words for feeling you can’t really put a finger on?) thrown in, to actually getting some razor blades ( but coming to in a pool of blood, pissed off to still be here, and with good old St Peter wagging his finger and saying, nah uh kid, you don’t get out of it that easily, if you go now, then you will just be born again and have to start over..well, I had 20 years under my belt already, the idea of having to live them all over again was a masterful deterrent) to finally getting to the point of wanting to kick Pink in the head, and say ‘for God sake man, get over yourself’...and then I was well. It took 27 consecutive nights of going to the cinema to watch The Wall, but it worked, and I’ve been a huge fan and eternally grateful to him ever since. Well, that’s my story, for what it’s worth. But I’m listening to The Great Song of Indifference today, because I think like much of the world today, I am completely burnt out. For the first time in 57 years I can honestly say, I no longer give a f*ck. So yet again, thanks Bob!
I think I'm falling in love in his music. It's so wonderful, full of kindness and magic.
Quite true m8. Bob Geldof s solo stuff that I have been lucky enough to have heard. Is quite good.if not Ace. I'm a big Human League fan myself. And I have been lucky enough to have met the Human League girls ie Queen Joanne Catherall♥️ and Queen Susan Sulley.♥️ and Philip Oakey. And like Bob Geldof. The Human League r Ace.. Bob Geldof s solo stuff that I have heard is fantastic. And he is 1of my heroes. I have been lucky enough to have met the Human League girls ie Queen Joanne Catherall(5times) and Queen Susan Sulley(4timee) and if you are interested in the reason why I have nicknamed the 2 Human League girls ie Susan Sulley and Joanne Catherall Queen. And Philip Oakey King. It's 2do with the game of Chess. I play Chess ,4 Portsmouth.. Bob Geldof s a good solo singer. And Sir Bob Geldof m8. If u ever get to read this message m8. I really mean it.
Yeah.. I can definitely hear Annie Lennox's backing vocals on this track!... great production values, Top song!
Always like this song...and the album it came from.
Best song I've ever hear
😂
I have this on 45 single! Very emotive lovely song. About the needs of the world, and how we can respond. "Close your eyes sleep tonight..." those who pretend as if everything is alright. In contrast with what BG sees in reality - "On a train now.." Also a cry out to God to help solve the problems - like poverty, famine, etc which were big news at the time.
Excelente !
saludos desde México
Enjoy from the core of the earth out loved ones 🍃✨💚💃🏾🌹🌀🍁🌸Hearts ❣️💫Diamonds reach you 🌟
Blessings Bob thankyou, 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱💎 🕊️
I found Bob Geldof through The Wall
Nice one Bob!
Song 🙌☮☮☮
In reality, the LP "Deep in the heart of nowhere" is excellent - and very under-rated.

Agree
Most of the ‘Music lovers’ are affected of other things, like advertising exc.

Das was man will.
Genius 🔥🤤🔥❣🥁🎶😉👋
Post Live Aid Geldof , flopped with this song , to his suprise. I quite liked it

*Romanticamente...........BOB !*
The Violet U think that this song is romantic? I perfur the Human League single 1man in my heart. 2this track. And I'm not saying that this song is crap. I like the track. But I think that u should download and listen to the Human League single 1man in my heart. from Paul Eyles from Portsmouth
Should this song be re released to help the people of Ukraine.
With war on our doorstep, millions of refugees from war, poverty and drought being dragged into an unprecedented looming humanitarian catastrophe, it is time for new Live Aid to connect people
🖤🎧🤘😘
I am ready to work 💪

Mike Oldfield - The time has come? I wonder what was written first!
17 top hit 1987
Mike Oldfield's "The time has come" starts very similar although I think Bob's song was first. Or maybe Mike wrote this...?
damajk hey fellow Bob and Mike fan! Yay!

I accidentally typed ‘Nob’ Geldof searching for this. I think that’s called a Freudian slip.
Sorry for swearing but this is such an absolutely effing WONDERFUL song! I was born in 1988 so I missed it originally. But why did Bob Geldof who also was behind the LIVE AID legacy ... Lose Peaches in such shit awful circumstances? Before which Paula Yates treated him so gratuitously and ungratefully before Karma came along and returned her all this. Geldof is actually quite inspirational although he recently commented [wrongly IMHO] 'all he is up to these days is writing Paddy Songs!' UNDERSELL or what!!!
Fly Drive 2020 i was born in 1962, so I missed nothing originally, and I thank God for that every day..my whole generation all agree that we were just quite simply blessed..people forget about us, I call us the Cold War Babies, slotted in between the Boomers and the Gen Xers, but we know who we are 😎
Surprised it flopped it's a good song mind you 1986 was when SAW hit factory became popular music styles change.
+nwlman exactly. people opted to be fooled by the bollocks that was SAW, like they are now with that twat cowell.
This is an utterly terrible song. Something like a poor man's Simple Minds.
