- Today, I'm presenting you with a simple Polish soup made with a fragrant herb that is so easily accessible everywhere: dill. This easy and quick recipe will deliver an aromatic and creamy soup that can be prepared in under 20 minutes!
I'm also adding drop dumplings "kluski lane" to my soup. "Kluski lane" are made by pouring a thin batter right into the soup. They cook in the broth and give it a bit of texture and flavor. I've also garnished the soup with garlic croutons and pumpkin seeds, for added flavor.

First off I LOVE your channel. You and your husband are very nice people. I am 72 years old and live in California. I am of Italian and Yugoslav decent. More Yugoslav than Italian because I was brought up with more of Yugoslav family than Italian. No Italian family. (Father and mom divorced). But I love the cooking because a lot of it is the same as my grandma used to cook. The noodles in this episode is the first thing I learned to cook, but grandma used a can of V-8 juice. (Vegetable juice). As the soup. But she also used chicken soup also. Anyway I love your shows.
Hello from Pennsylvania! I am originally from czechoslovakia and regularly make Creamy dill sauce with potatoes and hardboil eggs, it is a dish that goes back toy childhood, and I make it with fresh dill and new potatoes.y kids love it and call it dill soup. It's great! Thank you!
Growing up in Slovakia we ate milk soup with cubed boiled potato , salt , and butter for breakfast all the time. Sometimes, we had the milk soup with small flour dumplings . I loved it … still do many years later 😋
WHEN I WAS A KID (70+ yr AGO) MOTHER (UKRAINIAN) MADE A MILK SOUP WITH CHUNKS OF POTATO AND A BIT OF BUTTER, SALT AND PEPPER...WE ACTUALLY LOVED IT...
Glad I found this video.. I got a big bunch of dill at farmers market and ready didn't know what to do with it!
Fantastic!
This is awesome! The first time I learned about Dill Soup was in Chicago at the Montrose Deli
When my aunt was alive, we made pierogies in huge quantities with her. The leftover dough was made into kluski. They were delicious boiled and served with butter and carmelized onions.
Mine, too! Or blueberry pierogies with sweatened sour cream -- dessert! Thanks for the memory!
I love Dill In just about everything!!
I have never had that soup and I love dill, I use it all the time. May try it. When I was small my grandpa boiled potatoes and put them in warm milk...yum! To this day I think of him when I smell boiled potatoes 🤗it's 6:30 a.m. here in Michigan and I was glad your video came up. Have a good afternoon👏👍
Excellent preparation! I can taste it. Have a bunch of dill , making this quick recipe tomorrow! Fast and easy, thank you!
woow when i have loads off dill in my ukrainian garden this summer i will be making this lov lov Dill
Hi! Jane here. I just found your channel and I really enjoy your recipes. My gramma and great gramma made a soup for me that was hot milk seasoned with much black pepper with dumplings which I always called lumps. I loved it! My great grampa was German, so maybe the milk soup was enjoyed by Polish and German families.
Another word from the oldies 'Kluski'
Always ate it great.
Ty
Mark
Polish zupa was of all kinds is truly the best! Babcia and I will be planting dill soon.
Thank you. Love the videos. We look forward to them every week.
I have seen recipes of this soup over the years, but never tried it. Now I will-it looks delicious! Warm milk and cereal was a favorite of mine when a kid. I guess I was weird!
Looks delicious 😋 I will make it, thanks for the idea👍👍⚘
I have to grow it first, just bought a pack of dill seeds. The dumplings isn't what I imagined, I was thinking of thick clumps of dumplings like we use to spoon into chicken soup
Wow that looks awesome and I just LOVE dill too!!! Thanks ;))
Myślę, że link to recipe goes to last week's dish FYI, thanks for this recipe, looking forward to making it. I tried the mushroom sauce and meat patties from last week and they turned out excellent! Dziękuję bardzo, Pani Anna!
It’s great to see you back in the kitchen! You always make me smile. I have seen recipes for kluski but never tried them and never seen them made. They sounded like quite difficult to get right but now I’ve seen them made I’m going to give them a try. I need to experiment with gluten free flour, but I usually get it figured out. And why did I never work out mixing the flour with liquid for thickening in a jar all my life? Thank you!
I'll be trying this one.
We would do hot milk soup & added
rice (cooked) with a pinch of salt
Looks delicious
Looks very nice and delicious!
Dill soup looks delicious. Will have to try.
My grandma always made milk soup with noodles for me. Loved it .
All it needs is a slice of rye bread with butter to dunk!
My mother (Very picky eater) used to make duck blood soup. She also made noodles witch she called “off the plate noodles”
I like dill with fish but never tried as soup. Looks interesting, may try. Thanks for the recipe.
That is one of our favorite soups. We grate sour pickles and add them in too! Have to try your kluski version, we just add cubed potatoes. Great idea for Autumn weather!
This dill soup looks delicious, Anna. Thank you
My pleasure 😊
Again, another interesting soup that I had never heard of! First it was pickle then it was beetroot and now this. Proves that you can make soup out of anything!!
The addition of the drop dumplings is interesting. Those thin strings of dumpling almost remind me of egg drop soup for some reason. Fascinating! I may or may not try this soup, but I will experiment with the dumpling idea in some chicken soup. Take care! Stay well!!
Thanks Greg!
Great fan of soups 🍲 👏 Do you have a recipe for Sorrel soup - I have a lot in my veggie patch right now? 🙂
Yes, browse through the SOUPS section of the RECIPE INDEX at polishyourkitchen.com
Can’t wait to try this, making your leek salad today!
Hope you like it!
That looks simple and tasty. The dumplings (not the broth part) are akin to an egg drop soup you'd get at Chinese restaurant in the US.
I will have to give this a try. Looks good.
I have not tried this type of kluski.
Have you ever made drop dumplings made with grated raw potatoes?
Have not seen a recipe for them but we always make them for dill pickle soup.
My sisters and nieces have started to show an interesting making them.
Grated raw potato dumplings? Sounds tasty. Mind sharing the recipe for those?
@@mashteeh8691 I normally make a large batch for family gatherings and don’t have a formal recipe but I can share what I do:
Using a box grater grate 1-2 large baking potatoes. To the potatoes add 1egg, about a half teaspoon of salt, and about 1/2 cup of flour and mix well. Add more flour as needed. You want the batter to be stiff not runny.
Fill a large pot half way with water and a teaspoon of salt and bring to a boil. Lower temp to a low boil and drop teaspoon size dough into the water mix occasionally so they do not stick to the bottom of you pot. Cook for about 10-15 minutes. Test to see that they are cooked thru. Drain. Can be used in soup or fried with a little butter and onions or bacon bits.
When I was younger and money was tight my mom would reserve the liquid the dumplings were boiled in and serve it in a bowl with the dumplings,a very small pot bit of fried diced bacon and a little bacon grease on top. We thought it was a treat. It was very filling.
I miss the polish food. I have to travel to Detroit to get my fill. Thank you for sharing
I grew up in Detroit in the 50's, lots of Polish restaurants back then; all gone now. Miss those days, and old Detroit 😔
We still have lots of great Polish restaurants! Come back & check them out!!
Try 3 Brothers restaurant in Livonia AWESOME Polish food just like Grams. Even have the dumplings in the chicken soup which is very very close to Grams Ladies in the back kitchen even look like her!! Lol. All of 5 feet tall!!!
@@frankcieliczka1611 I grew up in Livonia, where are you located?
@@lauriemiller2441 I’m actually in Linden but son works at Ford in Livonia but grew up in Redford Twp went to Thurston High
❤❤❤❤❤
Do you make "chińczyk" often? Craving it but not sure how to cook it! I love the way it's made in Poland.
I've never had this it looks amazing! Could you use different small pastas in this as well.?
I don't see why you couldn't. I think it would be great with a wide variety of pastas or even some grains. Thanks for wathcing!
Ok, didn’t sound good at first, but when I saw it made, it looks DILLY DELICIOUS!
I will have to try this. I tried growing dill last year with no success, tell me how you get it to grow so well in Poland 🇵🇱😋
Smacznego 😋
And that’s amazing how the dumplings form from just streaming it into the hot soup!
Hope you enjoy it!
1. The soup tastes better when dill is fried with butter before .
2. My granny prepared dumplings separately in salty water and drained it off before serving.
3. In my kindergarten we've been served dilll soup with semolina instead of dumplings. It tickled terribly on the palate...
I found loads of dill at an Indian store.
ignore previous comment - found it
Have you ever made or do you know how to make Schav which is a polish sour tasting soup with potatoes in it? My grandmother used to grow the plant that was in it and it was a sour soup but I loved it and wish I knew what she made it out of.
Yes, you can find that recipe in the SOUPS section on the RECIPE INDEX on polishyourkitchen.com
I haven't had that in forever, the English name is sour sorrel, can be grown from seed in your garden
We had hot milk "soup" with white rice for breakfast in the winter. Also, when the cows gave birth, mama would also milk the cow of the first milk which she heated up with elbow macaroni and we HAD to eat that disgusting combination also. She was convinced that it kept us healthy. Maybe she was right; as a child I never saw a doctor or missed a day of school.
I love hearing these kind of stories! Thank you for sharing with us.
The soup is delicious but not sure why the dumplings didn't work for me : (
What do you mean? You didn’t like them or they didn’t turn out?
you have the wrong link to this recipe....
Call them Egg Drop Noodles and you have a Chinese soup.
My great Aunt also added green beans and carrots and smoked kielbasa
I wish I married a Polish girl but I would probably be 500 pounds by now.....
😆
WHAT YOU HAVE IS A VARIATION OF EGG DROP SOUP.....HURRAH....
To long video 👎
Good soups take time to make. I’m thinking you know this. This one actually comes out fast. Maybe you prefer something out of a can? That’s a short video. Delicious right?
14:11 is the actual start...
This lady is just a very clumsy home cook... soso, not very knowledgeable or skillful. Wasteful and not very informative.
Soup is good, when cooked properly.
Oh, Anna. You are a wonderful cook! Thank you for reminding me about the dill soup. I always loved it. I admire you for your cooking skills and promoting polish culture and cuisine. I like your relaxing style and family stories told while cooking. I live in Poland so I admire you the more for such an amazing knowledge of Polish cuisine abroad.
You are incredibly rude!! Waiting for your chanel!
Looks delicious
