Opporcoonist
Two of the smarter black men that are on t.v.! They can think for themselves and don't follow like sheep.
First take = Left take.
Tired of Fools oh identity politics, such a nice argument you have there. Anything else?
Dislike for Trump is completely apolitical to me at this point. I was open minded when he got elected, but he proved me wrong.
+googley98
Explain. The economy is growing at an incredible rate, and 1.6 million jobs have been created. While I don't agree with all his policies and his impulsive mouth, he's actually doing shit compared to Obama, who was all bark but no bite.
The economy economic growth is an after effect of Obama's efforts. Just like when Obama first got into office and the country was still suffering from Bush's aftereffect. Just wait a few years, and you'll see how much of a buffoon Trump really is.
jj 172 And I imagine you also object to "Faux" News being so transparently rightist...despite proclaiming itself as a - you know - NEWS OUTLET?
Might as well replace molly with meagen kelly and call this cnn espn, they sound just like them
Good point Stephen A!! You hit it on the head I agree with you hardly ever but I agree with u here!
SAS’s face & gestures when Molly interrupts Max lol
You couldn't talk to Trump b4 he was president what makes Barkley think you can talk to him now?
For a min there I thought I was watching CNN. Lol
Dubs gon probably bump "Fuck Donald Trump" in the plane ride to a Wizards home game.
How can Charles talk about visiting the white house for winning Championships when he never has.
Bring Trump to First Take and have Shannon, SAS, Max, Bob, Ray, Will, and maybe skip
gary carrington Trump would be destroyed in a debate, because he does not have the intellect to debate like an adult.
StevenC32 smh maybe that's a point
It might help him come to some sort of agreement because they ask all the Right questions too and know how to answer for the public
I like the dream reference max!!👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Great show guys
I disagree with Stephen on the idea that players don’t want to go because of trumps behaviour. They don’t want to go because they believe he is a racist and a republican which is the party that many portray as the party that works against minority’s. Additionally going to the White House would lose respect of their supporters because of trumps polarising status.
I am not a Trump supporter but I like and appreciate justice. Max said that he has a problem with normalizing substandard behavior, standards that we hold on to and teach our children. So, I wonder, those NBA and NFL stars, are they behaving in ways that meet our "standards"? most if not all NBA players curse during games, throw tantrums, mock other players. Lets go to their private lives, are they role models? how about NFL players? I know that I should not generalize but the reality is that most NBA players behave worse than Trump both publicly and in their private lives. But then again, we do live in a society filled with double standards.
Trump doesn't let reporters speak at his press conferences without being extremely rude and condescending to them, and interrupting them whenever he wants (even in the middle of questions). What makes Charles Barkley think he won't do the exact same with NBA players when they attempt to engage in civil discourse?
Ahmad Rabbani Amen! well said
Ahmad Rabbani ever seen these NBA players talk to reporters? No? Okay...
They are not even close to as disrespectful as Trump is. And as for GSW specifically, it is the most composed, well-mannered team in the NBA right now in my opinion (with the exception of Dray).
Its not about changing his mind. It's about having the opportunity to talk about things you dislike ON HIS FACE. That's the ultimate platform you could have to make a change. See the problem? Players want to take a knee during the anthem to "protest", but they're cowards to meet the president AND PROTEST IN HIS FUCKING FACE. COWARDS.
Championship Barbosa well said.
If this was 1839, Charles would have been the one to snitch on a runaway slave.
Max has said this the best and the only one to make me fully understand why
well put
Max hits the nail on the head.
Instead of protesting the National Anthem, the NFL should sit down with Congress and make a real change. Make laws to change the polices protocols to stop police brutalities.
All these analysis on ESPN and other networks are all confined by their PC networks being fearful of losing their jobs.
Vince Nguyen how do you legislate the misuse of a firearm by a police officer? When police break laws that are currently in place, they don't get indicted and when they do they get lesser sentences than someone who runs a dog fighting ring (think Michael Vick). You don't think someone has considered and tried your "if you really want to see change," by-the-book approach? If it were as easy as what the casual CZcams commenter can come up with, we as a nation wouldn't be where we are.
Vince Nguyen it's not protesting the national anthem it's raising awareness of continual brutality that is unchecked. Don't let them get you twisted to the anthem.
Andre Hart I know right? No one is protesting the anthem. That's what everyone seems to think.
because protesting athletes, and intelligent politicians capable of making a change are two very different things. it doesnt take a genius to know that theres something wrong with the current state of race relations in america. but i guarantee you that not a single one of those guys has any good ideas on how to fix it.
as it stands, all they can do is open a conversation about it. i think they went about doing that in a wierd way with protesting the national anthem, which is a much more divisive thing to do than was necessary. but regardless, they did their part in drawing enough attention to make it a common discussion. so now its up to the people who actually know what theyre talking about and dont get their money playing with a football to start making those changes.
deets987 I appreciate the dialog And I absolutely have several great ideas to get it better immediately!! First we have to do a better job acknowledging it......I see too many comments like racism doesn't exist, blacks need to get over it etc....
Charles just wants to go to eat the buffet and ask Trump, "Massa, can I have mo butta biscuits?"
andre mask please
Normalizing substandard Behavior huh... ... Go tell Chicago that!
Is the relevant to this topic of conversation or are you just looking to deflect responsibility?
Well of course Charles is right. Remember when ESPN was sports ? Now we have MARXIST MAX.
Max isn't a Marxist, he is just a complete moron.
Fit within the norms of our political culture?? Are you kidding me
"it's not about politics" really? they don't like his behavior, i.e. his statements, i.e. his politics. no wonder ESPN is losing subscribers by the minute
Espn = Liberal sports network
You are wrong Stephen A.- Manny Ramiraz skipped seeing George Bush, and Matt Burk skipped seeing Obama.
GOAT list...
1. Michael Jackson
2. Kobe Bryant
3. Libron James
4. Seth Curry
I respect Max✊🏾
The thing about having dialogue is both parties got to want to have the dialogue the president doesn't want to converse.
Why does Barkley say that these players can sit down and talk to Trump as though that would change a damn thing? Dude's own Chief of Staff cant wrangle him. Lol.
Eh! I actually like Max's line, "its about normalising substandard behaviour ... "
Trump didn't go after Curry, Curry went after Trump. Corry said that if they voted on going to the White House, he would vote no. Trump simply responded by rescinding the invitation. If you have to take a vote to decide whether you're going to my birthday party, I'd withdraw the invitation too.
Let's be real, most of us are surprised Trump hasn't started WW3 yet
StopDMingMe it's gonna happen one day, you too scared to live in it. You scared of being drafted into the military. Trump is protecting us by trying to take out the threat. It makes America look strong and lets people know not to fuck with us. North Korea could drop a nuclear missal right in your city. Trump is protecting us by responding back. Obama was a pussy and never wanted confrontation and made us look weak
Ohh he will soon.
StopDMingMe Trump or Kim Jun Un?
All of this stuff is to distract you from the fact it's almost there to being a war already
Yes these liberals actually feel like north Korea is a threat because trump called him rocketman when him and his family been here since bill clinton and called a Obama a Monkey. Heck he was even threatning war when that movie called 'the interview' with James Franco came out. Leftists need to stop war mongering because clearly half the country doesn't buy it. It's weird how the left it's blaming trump for provoking a dictator who from time wants to destroy the west.
Craig Hodges was exiled from the NBA after going to the white House and tried to talk to Bush about inequality
Not going is like not going to the biggest birthday party of your life .
How many times do players who have gone to the White House after a championship say, ”we cannot talk to the president about issues we may have. We are told by White House staff” so that argument about talking to the president about racism is void. You don’t think a grown man doesn’t know about racism he has a tv like everyone else, he has a Twitter like everyone else. We shouldn’t have to discuss respect for humanity that should be inherit in every human being.
Max Kellerman: I love Charles Barkley! He says what he thinks and he doesn't care what people say to him!
Max Kellerman: I hate President Trump! He says what he thinks and doesn't back down from people who talk bad about him!
I guess chuck forgot what happened to Craig Hodges after he sat down and talked to the president about issues...
1:19 SAS face 😂 shut up molly 😡
Apparently Mr. Barkley is not aware of what happened to Craig Hodges.
Max has a great point. Change the scenery, the tempo, the setting, IF you want to have a civil discussion. Don't normalize what's unacceptable by the means of the status quo. That's counter productive.
Charles Barkley is exactly right. Be a professional and go visit the white house like every other teams do when they get the opportunity
Barkley has been very critical of Trump. This doesn't mean he likes Trump, it just means he doesn't think there is anything wrong with going to the white house. The White House is bigger than Trump.
if they didn't go see Obama Stephen a would say so disrespectful
Sir Charles is wrong on this.If you're not an elected official you can't talk to the president about politics when you visit the white house.
Fact: 90's Bulls with Michael Jordan went to WH when Bush Sr was in office. Craig Hodges took a list of issues he felt needed to be addressed. Craig Hodges never played in the NBA again. He was one of the best 3 point shooters NBA history, yet he suddenly couldn't find a job. Going to the White House for a photo a op with someone who has sided with Nazis and White Supremacist is ignorance at its highest level.
Tod Wilkinson you're a piece of shit
The Democratic Party started the KKK. They were against black people becoming citizens, owning property, and voting. They were for Jim Crow Laws. Only when they were able to vote did the Democratic Party begin to pander to them.
Real talk
Tod Wilkinson he was about 30.
Even though he wasn't in the league anymore. He was allowed to defend his 3 point championship at the all star game
The KKK supports the GOP so catch up to current events....
Ask Steve Harvey how did his white house visit go.
WTF ESPN? So if you disagree with someone politics you still should go but if you don't like someone you shouldn't? Thats the most idiotic thing I've ever heard. You should POLITELY disagree IF you don't like somebody's politics not because you don't like the person. This is not a world of make believe. ACTIONS speak WAY louder than words.
Totally agree with Max
Charles Barkley's comments are correct ......!
How is it substandard behavior when you tell it like it is. The players in the NFL who wont unify with their fellow Americans, and stand for our anthem, are SOB's. How can you preach unity, but yet not join your countrymen in one of the very few things that we share in common? This is the problem. That flag, and that anthem was kept so that we could be reminded of the freedom that we all want, and the sacrifices that have been made along the way. I'm not saying we have perfected freedom, but we all still need to be proud Americans. Because someday we will overcome this ignorant thing called race. We will forget all our differences, and embrace our homeland that we share. this is America... and we are all humans here.
So you encourage athletes to stand up and speak out against injustice in the country? But when they actually have a chance to talk to the president to possibly figure out what he might do about it, it's discouraged?? Am I missing something here?
SAS kills me calling people wrong. Say you have a difference in opinion bro.
Let me guess what y'all are gonna comment. "I didn't come here for politics blah blah blah stick to sports, blah blah blah
"Democracy is self destructive" Kim Jeong Un
The white house is not just Trump. Whether you agree or disagree with the president don't disrespect America.
Charles Barkley and Donald Trump speak almost the same Language.
No wonder ESPN is f****** going broke
The TNT guys as a Group are phenomenal but individually i'm picking Stephen A over Barkley ALL DAY EVERYDAY, TWICE ON SUNDAYS!!!
So let me get this right Max, it's NOT ok for the President to use guys like Steph Curry as a Prop, but it IS ok for Collin Caperknick to use the Flag & the National Anthem as a Prop?? (That's hypocrisy right there)
In the Racial Draft of 2017 we the Black Delegation will trade Charles Barkely and Ray Lewis for Max Kellerman and Khloe Kardashian
This is bullshit
Curry started that crap. Smith riding the attempted ratings train.
Donald Trump is using Twitter like Lavar Ball is using his mouth.
2:50 wait what, that's exactly why they don't want to go
I strongly disagree with Chuck. If it were the White House of either of the Bushes (W or HW), none of this mess would be going on right now.
Isn't it funny that whenever max Kellerman talks about politics he doesn't actually say anything
We'll Spoken guys!!!!
I see SAS being fed up with Mollys shit lol
Max, per usual, is completely wrong. Where is Will Cain when you need him.
Barkley should talk to Kim Jong Un.
Barkley lives in Arizona and has a white wife. What answer did you think you were gonna get out of this guy?
so does your boy shannon sharpe bitch
I said the exact same thing
Racist...
Why people keep saying let's go to the White House & let's talk about the country problems ? Shannon Sharpe stated you can't ask the president anything you want ? He stated you will be a photo opp if anybody knows it's Shannon sharpe who been there twice
am i the only one who thinks its stupid when people want professional athletes to give their political voice on things like this and try to help "open dialogue" with a president or people?
(even a terrible one like trump). they literally dont have to be as educated or informed as the rest of us cus they were good with a basketball. they get a free ride through most of life and pretend to go to college for 1 year while not learning a damn thing there.
Now im not saying curry is stupid. in fact he seems like one of the more intelligent, put together nba players. but go listen to the vast majority of players talk about things other than basketball, and think honestly if thats who you want representing you. hell, people keep talking about how smart and articulate kyrie is and the dude doesnt make any damn sense and thinks the earth is flat lol.
And on top of that (specifically pertaining to the issue of racism towards black americans) guys like curry, KD, and lebron damn sure dont go through the same struggles as the majority of the impoverished black community, so why should they be expected to speak on it over someone who doesnt make hundreds of millions and that it actually affects. they get paid to entertain and distract from all the bullshit going on in the world. let them do that and leave the political changes to people who study and get paid for that.
Under normal circumstances I'd agree with Barkley's position, but Steph and the GSW would benefit Trump through free publicity just for showing up. Steph said months ago he disliked Trump cuz of his comments on women. Why would Steph give a free gift to Trump and have a photo shaking his hand? Please
Daz (1) you don't need to use all-caps like a 5-year-old, it doesn't make your points any stronger or make you look any smarter 2) I never said Trump "needs" media attention. But whether he needs it or not, why would Steph help him out in any way by going and giving him that free publicity? Steph said months ago he's not going cuz of Trump's comments on women. Considering how Steph feels about his daughters, wife, and mother, why would he even shake this man's hand? He's not contractually obligated to do it, so he's not going to. Now Trump wants to act like he's the one taking away the invitation lol ok...
Daz I'm telling black people how they protest? 😂 name one time I brought up race? You won't be able to, because I didn't, your mind for some reason just decided to go there. I was clearly defending Steph's decision, which you condescendingly and arrogantly try to misconstrue. "Steph was talking from a position of entitlement/expectation"? You clearly haven't been following competitive sports very long. It's an annual tradition for the champions of the NBA, NFL, and various other pro and college leagues to go visit the White House the year they win. It's not a "presumption" or a leap to assume that tradition would go on. Tom Brady was asked literally the exact same question every time he won the Super Bowl, even before an official invitation came from the White House. In this case,Steph was ASKED point blank by a reporter in July whether or not he'd go, and Steph said he didn't want to. What exactly would you want Steph to say to make you feel more comfortable??? "Steph started it"? He was asked whether he'd go if the White House kept the annual tradition (again, the reporter presumed in the question the invite would come). Steph gave his answer and a reason why. If Steph said he would go I wouldn't say shit about it. The reason this is a story now is because Trump once again wanted to get the last word in and posterize and sent out that ridiculous tweet. Don't get mad that all these athletes are coming to Steph's defense. Trump did this to himself...
Daz ….either you have reading comprehension issues or are just typing with pure emotion and not paying attention. I’m the one who said it was a reasonable expectation for Steph to assume he would get invited based on the reporter’s question and based on it being an annual tradition. YOU are the one who called him “entitled” for assuming he’d be invited, like he was sooo arrogant for thinking he'd get an invite. 😂 You’ve got some nerve calling other people high. Let's be real, you’re not mad because Steph assumed he was invited, you’re mad because Steph threw shade and made that “ass-et” comment. Ok, that’s fine. I never called Steph a “victim” but I am definitely calling Trump an embarrassment. Trump supporters criticize his “haters” for being weak and thin-skinned? GTFO look at the public responses the President gives out every time he feels the slightest bit offended. When Obama was president, Trump and millions of his supporters accused Obama of not being born in this country (ZERO evidence to back that claim up). I don’t recall Obama throwing shade on social media because he felt offended.
I agree with your second comment that it would be nice if sports was pure and I don't get my political views from them, I just call it how i see it. Steph Curry’s “ass-et” comment doesn't come anywhere close to Trump’s comments directed at NBA and NFL players in the past few months.
They don't want to meet with him because they will have to acknowledge they know nothing about politics!!! 😂
I disagree with the fact that Charles doesn't pick any side and say as it is. Charles actually say everything that a white supremacist would want to hear.
so some of you all really think these players gets to sit down with the president and discuss actual issues when they go up there lol, and how would Charles Barkley know and he himself never been there after a championship smh
INTL Players Anthem > National Anthem
ESPN equals trump hate
Robert Con y
Trump=Hate
I'm sorry but if you're in an arguement you dont be the civilian, u need to be the government, Charles is right they shouldve went and confronted the president if they had problems dont just not go.
In Barkley's defense, he never won a ring so he doesn't know what happens when a team visits the white house haha
You don't have a 1 on 1 with the president when you go to the white house. It's a photo with him then you tour the white house and that's it.
When Stephen A mentioned G Dubya Bush, I just had the scariest, thought. What if Trump had,or gets, a guy line Cheney in his ear. Then I thought, he might already have one, with all his talk of nuking enemies. Christ, once he feels the walls closing too tight, we might be truly fucked.
I miss when sports and politics didn't intertwine with one another
Barkley is not the sharpest knife
50 cent said that Trump offered them black people that came to the Trump hotel and did the photo op got $500K
Thank God they are not going to the White House. This was we don't have to pay to air it out afterwards.
Max Kellerman completely correct...
You respect the office, not the person. I am not a fan of Obama, but if I was invited to the White House I would have went, cause I respect the office. Max needs to take emotions out of it, sounds like a child.
If you’re not going to engage a person and try to talk some sense into them, then how do you expect them to change? I’m sorry; we are stuck with him at least another 3 years, and not engaging him except when you have something hostile to say won’t change anything. If anything it’s going to make him worse as he will just pander to the people who voted for him. It’s going to be hard for him to have empathy for anyone who isn’t willing to share their point of view
There is no such thing as an "Adult Conversation" when it comes to Trump.
45 is 71 years old.. nothing is changing him..
I believe the opportunity to go to the white house would have also been an opportunity to talk to trump and maybe settle things. Have we divided ourselves so far to which we don't know how to meet in the middle anymore?
Charles Barkley dosnt tip his waiter, be aware..
What happened to Hodges after he went to the white house with the bulls and tried to relay his feelings to the president?? Blackballed from the NBA forever after having his best season in the league
I love Barkley, but when you talk to someone who does not listen, why bother going?!?!
