I have a Tobbaco sunburst Tribute Legacy Strat with a SD SL6 on the bridge, but apart from doing a Kinsman rewire thru my luthier and a setup, it is almost as I bought it and is magnificent. I play a lot of PF stuff in particular and it just does the job. I paid 425 GBP in 2011 and have spent about 130 GBP with the mods, and I will not part with it without a big fight. It can almost emulate a tele (Run Like Hell for example), it can rock and clean out and jazz up too. It is a top guitar, Apparently because it was one of the first Indo makes, it doesn't have the PBT system, but I believe this can be modded, so that is my next project as I think it will take the Kinsman wiring a bit further.
Hey I've been watching a bunch of your tutorials recently and they really help me as a beginner! Is there any chance you'd be able to do a tutorial on Dead Dreams by Sarcastic Sounds? I really like how the guitar sounds at the start and I can't find a single tutorial on how to play it. Thanks and keep up the vids 👍
Can get the fender tone easier by turning the neck tone knob down to your liking, my G&L legacy I got as a replacement for my American strat that was stolen almost does the strat thing perfectly and more!
Excellent shredding my dude! I was thinking about pulling the trigger on one of these. The pickups sound really generic, and sterile. They don't sound like a Strat at all, but that can be changed. Are the pots full sized?
Go for it! I hadn't opened it up but can't imagine that they'd use any mini pots for these considering their quality. I change all my pickups anyways usually too so hope you enjoy it!
I found a super price on one of these but i'm not sure about three single coil. I want a P-90 and humbucker. Blues is it for me. All acoustic but I want to get an electric. I'm 63 so this will be my one shot. Any advice on this one? A G&L Bluesboy Tribute is my ideal but out of my price range
If you haven't bought the guitar type you wanted: look into the Reverend Double Agent. It's basically what you might be looking for, and comes with a bass roll-off knob too.
@@RamonaMusicCenter Its not about money the guitar is ok but thats it,a Strat it is not ., i bought this with reviews a big mistake as the trem assembly is total crap , In hindsight i would not have got one i would rather get a strat any day . If they were that good Hank Marvin would use one .
Hi, @1:32 you see the back of the headstock, there’s a circular G&L GUITARS with serial number underneath, the bottom part of circular writing has been rubbed out where it used to have INDONESIA printed. Look close and it’s easy to see the evidence of this. I have two G&L Indonesian models and to be honest I almost did the same rubbing out on mine …. But I didn’t bother 😂
As far as Strats go, these are the equal of any Fender. The electronics are the same as the US made G+L. As for the weight, ahhh, not sure what you are on about, these are very weighty, heavier than Fenders, and it shows in the resonance! Definitely one of the best Strats around, and definitely the best value strat.
Totally agree with most of that! Incredible guitars but the weight can fluctuate a bit, I have had 3 of these through the shop and 2 lighter than modern strats and one heavier. Either way, total monsters for the price!
Haha bit early to expand on the initial impressions that made me buy it ! My G&L journey began about 3 years ago when i was looking for a bass . I was thoroughly unimpressed with Fender - they were expensive for what was offered, had limited options and seemed a bit inconsistent. I tried basses by Musicman , Maruszczyk , Squier (pleasantly surprised !!) , Sandberg and G&L . The G&L basses i tried were lovely and were definite contenders but i couldn't get the exact one i wanted . Sandberg got my cash and I've never regretted it . I pxd my Squier Strat against a Mascis Jazzmaster last year . The Jazzmaster is lovely but i was kicking myself for rashly disposing of the strat - i liked it and should have pxd a real pig-in-knickers guitar that had been gathering dust for 17 years . So, having a strat-shaped hole in my life , my attention was grabbed by the Legacys in Guitar Guitar's autumn flash sale . Remembering how impressed i was with the basses (and having fallen madly in love with the goddess Marissa Paternoster 🥰) I thought they had to be worth trying . The one i saw was £299, down from £450 ; they gave me £150 px for the beknickered pig so it was just within the "entertainment budget" . First impressions : very pretty (plain wood body, maple neck, black plastic, chrome hardware) and very nicely finished. Like the Mascis, the neck feels like a more expensive guitar . Quite hefty but i don't mind that ( i work in construction and do sport , unlike the sand-kicked-in-face office workers who demand feathery instruments .....😃). The bridge is nice , feels solid and i suspect is part of the reason chords ring like a bell . I haven't had a chance to really try it out with fuzz and reverb (my usual modes) but tonight's the night 🙂👍
I had forgotten about this ! I took it home after only the most cursory of tests because i had hurt two of my fingertips . A few days later , fingers recovered, i started playing it and immediately had issues - some annoying fret buzz and the intonation was out . I fiddled with it a bit to no avail so i took it back to Guitar Guitar where i waited 90 minutes to be told the neck needed some proper work . They offered me another guitar but I got a refund instead . SO disappointed, especially after £25 in petrol money and my wasted time . Still, GG promptly sold my part ex for £290 so they were up on the deal ☹
What??? Same neck type as a Strat?? Strats have a 7.5 radius and the G&L has a 12” radius. Massive difference. If you are a Strat player a G&L will NOT have the same feel. 😳
Vintage strats do have a 7.5 but most post-1980 have a 9.5. Certainly is more flat and I loved that. I should have been more specific but I was refering to the feel on the rear of the neck. Appreciate the feedback though so I can be more precise in future videos!
I have five G&L's Three American Made and two Indonesian models. I really like the Indonesian Models. For the diference in price man.. The American guitars are fabulous but they are three times the price and G&L uses the same poickups in the Asian made models as well as electronics. There isn't a G&L Made that i've played that wasn't awesome. If your not wealthy enough to purchase the USA mde model. The tribute series is damn near imperceptible quality differeces...
I got one of these recently, wasn't expecting much, but it is as every bit as good as my US Fender Strat
great guitar great playing and great tone , can you tell me about your string gauge? sound so thick. I love that.
Does it maintain the table when volume is rolled down or does it need a treble bleed
I sold my American jazzmaster for a doheny tribute. Zero regrets.
Thanks and hello from our new channel! 🙏 #glguitars
Very cool! Great stuff yall! Would be happy to review anything else!
I will buy one G&L because this dude

This is a great guitar and you could always get a replacement pickguard with your dream pickups. You wont find a better build quality for less.
Try the G&L Tribute Fallout, I have one and it's an incredibly versatile guitar. P90 on the neck and a Humbucker on the bridge with split coil :)
@@bendobbing7015 Thanks. Now if one would somehow pop up on the used market. Yes, the Fallout looks so nice!

this model have also option of HSS. what do think on this because the it can split to single and have 7 instead of 5 option
Sounds awesome! Love me some options!

Well I got mine used for 400.00. At Music Go Round. Here in Elk Grove California. It was set up with new strings and the hole guitar plays great.
Fantastic price!
