    First let me say thank you to all of my faithful supporters and friends out there. I really appreciate you guys so much!
    Update: The 5DSR does not have built in wifi. This is my mistake. It is "wifi compatible" for file transfer with the WFT-E7. I apologize for this.
    Having shot with both of these cameras now for over 6 weeks, this is the very best information I can give you about them. Ive done my best to trim down the length, but if you are serious about investing into either one of these cameras, this will be worth your time.
    Chapter List:

      According to Dpreview and many others the Sony A7Rii has better low light capability than Canon 5Dsr!(Check the iso12800 the DP studio scene like the shoes & blue trausers in the centre of the scene in low light for example)Also If you look carefuly at your comparison images at iso 12800 you will see that Sony has focused on the hair rather than on models eye..That doesn't change however the fact the the colors of Canon are better in general and photos slightly sharper in good light.

      I thought the Sony was sharper. I saw the cheek issue they are talking about but the eye was OBVIOUSLY sharper on the video.

    I would expect that the high iso performance would be better on the Sony and other review speak highly of the Sony metering and AWB (but maybe Canon is even slightly better). Did you try to use native Sony lenses while doing the high iso portraits? Maybe it is also worth trying the uncompressed RAW option that was just delivered in a firmware upgrade with the Sony.

    Best and most thorough camera review I've ever watched. I have a Canon 40D, which is obviously dated, and I have five expensive EF L lenses that could work on this camera with an adapter, but I'm looking for touch-screen controls, an easy to use wifi feature that works like my Note 4 does in sharing videos. Canon just introduced the 5D Mark IV, but it doesn't have an articulating screen, has low resolution, has complicated wifi, and average focus capabilities and still has anti-aliasing built in that softens images too much.
    Thanks for the great review.

    Hey Michael, love the video.
    In regard to having the viewfinder function as an optical viewfinder. What I do on my A7 is that that I turn Live View Display settings to Off. Then the camera doesn't have to process the image to the viewfinder as much. On the A7 its in menu gear.2.Live View Display.

    I'm just an amateur but curious just the same, wondering whether recording with the A7R2 onto an external HDMI recorder (rather than onto the onboard card) would prevent overheating? Also, would that allow for longer recording duration? And what if you were recording for a time lapse onto the card, how long would it be in one go before the A7R2 shuts down?

  • @vitaliygnatenko4832
    @vitaliygnatenko4832 Před 8 lety +2

    Very well balanced review, great job, though some important features of the A7RII could be addressed in more detail - MUCH smaller size (great for e.g. street photography especially with silent shutter), internal image stabilization (just mentioned) and ability to use almost any lens via available adapters (with stabilization!). For many photographers, those could be quite the points.

    WOW!!! That is an amazing comparison you did there, I hope the 80D vs. a6300 comparison is even half as good.
    One question, what camera/lens/video setting did you use for the outdoor walk n' talk part of your video at the beginning and end? There are some issues with the compression of it that I have suffered from when shooting 4K outdoors on sharp lenses with my GH4.

    • @MMaven
      @MMaven  Před 8 lety

      It was a gh4 on a pilot fly gimbal

    • @tptrsn
      @tptrsn Před 8 lety

      MichaelTheMentor As I suspected. Thanks!
      By the way, I think you probably want to shoot in 4K, but I have found that for walk n' talks like that where there is a lot of detail in the frame, the 1080p60 All-I 200Mbps provides a much better looking product on CZcams (when rendered and uploaded as 60fps anyway)... GH4 action shots in 4K that are rendered and uploaded as 4K don't seem to work well with CZcams's compression.

      Anthony M if high mp doesn’t matter to you go 5dsr if 4K dual pixel AF touch screen all rounder go for 5d mark 4
      5dsr more for photographers that do landscape portrait journalism outdoor
      5d mark 4 is all round of you want the touch screen 4k video good photo quality dual pixel AF
      I be honest I tried both there are great but my pc couldn’t handle the 5dsr high mp files even it was fantastic image quality but 5d m4 3Omp is more than in enough its your choice
      I have my lucky 5d m3 24-70 24-105 my lucky 50mm for the time been by 2019 if there is no good cameras from canon I go for 5dm4 big MP but I like well balanced product

    Thanks for a great review. Another plus for the Sony is the weight and size, which makes it much easier and more comfortable to carry and hold. While this may not apply to everyone, it does to me.

      That Definitely a huge plus that I didn't mention. This size and weight reduction over DSLR bodies and lenses is significant.

    Thanks a lot for the 12 comparaison test. I got 11 to 12 for the canon. It's just so personnal but I just love the look of canon. I was really considering switching according to test like DXO provides, but really theory is something to put in practice. Thank you very much and sorry for my average english.
