What "creative control" had she lost exactly? She was only losing out on revenue because she didn't own the rights to the recordings. She always owned the actual songs, which is why she has been able to rerecord/rejig them.
To be clear I think it is a really clever thing she is done (and a hell of a power move), and I'm happy that it is the original artist is going to get paid instead of some exec, but I think it is just disingenuous to suggest that the reason she did this is anything other than money.

@@MrDohers Except at one time Big Machine were blocking her playing her own songs live so there is a lot more detail to this than the headline you picked up on... Under the re-record restriction in Taylor’s contract, which is boilerplate for major artist contracts, Big Machine was legally allowed to block the performance on the AMA's - “A television broadcast is technically a re-record.” If you or I had her money and resources and fancied making life hell for an industry snake and avoid such scenarios popping up then we'd probably try and do the same... although none of us have the talent and desire for perfection to pull that off in the same way that she has - she's on another level.
She is a powerhouse of a woman. The letter she wrote to Apple, the producer she called out for being a.hole, re-recording her work that was almost stolen from her, calling out shitty old boyfriends. THIS WOMAN DOES NOT SUFFER FOOLS. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

I still remember back in 2019 for Taylor would do re-recordings and now I’ve been introduced those 1st 2 albums Fearless and RED through the Taylor’s Versions and I admire of Taylor doing for newer fans to introduce older music in a new version. I’m excited for more re-recordings in the future 😁❤

As someone who has always been much older than Taylor, and only a casual fan: I find it very satisfying to see her fully mature, with a handle on the world she grew up in. The thing we need to remember about artists like her and Miley is that they grew up in the Wienstien era where sexualization of teens was the norm. It was disgusting. To see Taylor in the dignity of womanhood, after growing up in such a vile industry, is a testament to her accomplishment. I hope she take pride in this.

It's monumental to see him applauding her story and calling her decision to re-record an "amazing moment", given his understanding of the Western music industry over many decades, and the tension between creativity and commercialism for artists who find huge success like U2 and Taylor Swift have. Their U2 360 tour held the world record for highest-grossing all time tour from 2011-2019 before being overtaken by Ed Sheeran and still holds record if adjusted for inflation. Such a great conversation and interaction.
I’m hoping she’ll re-record her debut album as soon as possible. With “Tim McGraw,” “Teardrops On My Guitar,” and “Should’ve Said No,” It’ll be nice to hear the tracks performed by a more mature Taylor over 15 years later.

I want all of her albums (I.e. debut, speak now, 1989, rep) to be re-recorded asap, but obviously, that’s very unrealistic. Rn, I’m mostly looking forward to the speak now and 1989 re-recordings

It's kinda weird but I feel very proud of her. On top of that I like the re-recordings even better. Her voice matured a bit and the overall sound quality increased. I removed all of her old work from my playlists and switched them.

I have to say that she is so interesting and talented and yes! adorable. Her genuine nature I think shines through...and her fierceness for her works and her art...truly a force of nature. I also like that many of her works cross over age boundaries and gender boundaries that all too often limit....there are works that touch me and I am 66 years of age...we usually are often set in our ways..we have our own style and likes.....then when you pay attention to her lyrics...well! I think and feel Mary Chapin Carpenter has a very similar gift. Wish her continued success with her art and hope that she protectes her genius and herself..we all gain by the depths of her person. The aduit of her songs as magnificent. xxx love to all.

Taylor’s a very smart businesswoman as well as a great artist. She had her fans buy the same album multiple times by releasing different colours and adding extras. That’s a smart business move and it’s certainly helped her to become a billionaire. Re releasing her earlier work was also a smart move because most artists don’t get to cash in on their albums twice. I have a lot of admiration for Taylor because she has shown that being smart and a strong woman pays off. I really hope she finds personal happiness and more professional success

Taylor is the music industry how many artists can both rerecord their back catalogue keep the masters for her versions and make that any money the company makes out of selling shares in Spotify the profits from the shares are distributed equally among artists on the label

I stopped streaming the old versions and the albums she still hasn't re-record I hadn't listened to them in a while. Reputation, Speak Now and 1989 are my top favorite and I'll wait until I can listen to her versions~

What happened? I don't understand when she said her first albums were taken off her?
When she was 15 she signed a contract with Big Red Machine that said they owned her masters of any albums she made. I'm not 100% sure of the timeline of things but around 2018/9 she found out the owner of big red machine, scott borchetta, was thinking about selling up, she wanted to leave and go to universal and buy her masters back to take with her. Scott wanted Taylor to stay but said she could have 1 master back for every new album, but for Taylor that's just a trap really thats no way out. Anyway I'm not sure what happened next but I think after taylor said no Scott sold her masters to scooter braun. So in order to reclaim her work she is rerecording her old albums as Taylors Version.
Taylor you should have belted Kanye round the chops when he took your trophy. Well done for everything you've done. Fair play to you.
