    I own this car and it's amazing. There are also parts available online.
    Bought from banggood for 95$.
    Very fun and fast!
    I put there 2 1500 batteries and the car runs for a hour, and more, haven't got to use until full discharge

That's a great lo Truggy for sure, I'm not really looking for a 1/16 scale truck, but if I was, I would surely consider this one. I have a Hosim 1/12 scale 9165 and a Hosim 1/10 scale 9125 truck. I have had my 9165 for around 6 months and it has really taken a beating as I am a lousy driver and I have hit so many things going flat out with it it isn't funny and all the wheels are cracked around the rims but it can still take everything I throw at it and still runs as good as the day I got it. I can never give Xinlehong enough praise. They are a league of their own. I have just ordered the Q903 Brushless Truggy and should get it within the next 4 weeks. They also should have put a wheely bar on the 9165 because the back wing cops a flogging and I have flipped it right over a heap of times taking off. I have thought of putting a brushless motor in it but really I don't think it needs it. I have put oil-filled shocks in it and that helps keep the nose down when you take off.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  Před 4 lety

      It'll work I believe as long as it'll fit but going up to 3s you always risk blowing out the ESC due to the increased heat. Same with the motor. If you do I would add cooling fans to both the motor and esc/rx. I'm not sure about the LVC but most likely you'd need to add a lipo alarm since the ESC will be programmed for 2s.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  Před 5 lety

      First I need to try 3s since I know that will work after talking to someone that's tried it but without a cooling fan I'm sure 4s will fry the ESC. It can't handle enough amps. So I'm not going to try 4s and right now I have no 3s battery that'll fit so I have to buy one. The guy I talked to says on 3s it is perfect in low rate but it is so fast in high rate that it is nearly uncontrollable. As for the motor, I see no point in upgrading it if it is going to be that fast on 3s and the spur gear is nylon. It'll likely melt if you go up to anything much faster like 4s or a much faster kv motor. This video is meant to show what to expect from the stock setup. If I get a 3s that fits (all of my 3s are larger drone batteries) then I'll make a video on that. Thanx for watching!

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  Před 5 lety

    Here's my big question. I've got a flysky gt3-c transmitter, can link it up to 10 different rc's; spare Rx is only $5. I've got quite a few laying around. What would be a good replacement ESC that could handle 3s? Also, does anyone know the size or a part # of some aluminum oil-filled shocks? Looking for a bolt-on with no mods required.

    • @RDsRCReviews
      @RDsRCReviews  Před 5 lety +1

      The GoolRC 60a ESC's are really good and cheap though they might be a bit large for this car. Maybe look at those smaller sized 40a ones though they may not last long on 3s. The stock ESC can handle 3s so why not just stick with it and the stock Tx/Rx? The flysky is better but is it worth the cost of a new ESC better? As for the shocks, they measured at 70mm which is a strange size. I can't find too many oil filled shocks at that size that are also inexpensive. :( I was also looking for 70mm aluminium and I only found a few and they were very pricey.

    • @troyguinn303

      @@RDsRCReviews I just worry. With my driving style I've killed countless ESC's that normally take 2s (but are also "capable" of taking 3s). This worries me as it has no visible heat-sink, needless to say active cooling (a fan) for the heatsink. Put a high C rating through that ESC for a given time and I'm sure it'll get hot to the touch. All that heat is being trapped internally from what I can tell (still waiting on mine to arrive). Seems all to similar to my jjrc q39 ESC/Rx combo, no heatsink whatsoever. That ESC went up in smoke and almost burned my whole truck up with less then 10 minutes of LIGHT use on flat dirt. Wasn't even running 3s. Was using a 2200mah 35c 2s, and it would've caught fire had I not chased it down and disconnected the battery.

      @@RDsRCReviews I have to wonder if I'm buying cloned parts. I'm going to make one more order of pinions and spurs from Xinlehong and not eBay and if it happens again I'm just going to have to be done. It's even worse on 3S, I had to abandon 3S. Gears strip and ESC blows from heat. I really want to love these cars, but it seems every other run I'm repairing something. Think it's time to invest in something like Traxxas. As much money I've dumped into Xinlehong/HOSIM cars and parts I could've had a nice $500 Traxxas.
      Lesson learned here, you get what you pay for.
      There is nothing you do when placing the motor back in the frame other then slide the motor mount into the slots? There's nothing you know of to tighten the meshing? With mine, after replacing gears, you can see visible gaps in the teeth, starts as chattering at first, then you'll notice loss of speed as the teeth file down and than eventually lose contact between gears and no drive. The teeth on the motor pinion bend, the teeth on the spur shear off. I have tried everything I can think of and just can't get this to stop happening I've tried different suppliers and vendors, the parts always look identical sometimes the plastic bag of the parts come in are of a different marking than another one which definitely shows they're being manufactured by multiple places but are we having poor quality clones? I emailed XLH with pictures and explanations, doubt I'll hear anything back. I have ordered from them directly in the past so I'm going to try direct from them one more time but I think I'm just going to have to be done sorry for the rant, you're the only person I've ever got a response out of. it's all over the Internet you find nothing but good reviews and videos and sometimes it feels like the company is paying people to do this because you never see a single complaint and these things are really junk.
