Yes, these tutorial are very useful to dive deeper in some other possibilities regarding MIDI programming. Thanks!

Thanks so much for this tutorial! I always felt on missing out on the potential of the VSTs, those are adding much value and I hope there are more to come

I like the way you fault-find your first attempts at virtual arpeggios and then correct them with improved sustain and keyboard mode. Good thinking. The end result sounds great. (subscribed)

Thank you for this video! I have never fully understood the picking and strumming functions until now.
Like many people, I find reading most manuals is like a trip to the dentist.
    Thanks for the great products!

    Nice tutorial!!
I wanted to point out that fl studio by default does not actually utilize the sustain pedal proper; no midicc64 is recorded or sent; it only holds the notes down so two of the steps in the video were actually identical. CC64 sustain vs holding the notes can sound really different on some piano libraries especially as CC64 can sometimes engage additional resonance models; but I think for shreddage specifically there is no difference. You can fix the sustain pedal behaving this way with a toggle in the settings. In this case the notes would sustain invisibly and automatically cancel when retriggered; so you wouldn't have to worry about overlapping notes.

I really love shreddage and all the tutorials, but I definitely am looking forward to a time when we can get rid of the playing vs. tracking mismatch, i.e. some way to accurately record your playing and having a sample-based vst conversion or translation of the performance ready to edit in-the-box. It works perfectly with most midi-inputs - drums are pretty much more fun to record and in parts to perform because of how easy it is to non-destructively toy around with your sound. String instruments are still pretty big outliers in that regard, although I guess it forces certain people to do both sequencing by hand and practice playing... which I think is a really great learning tool in itself.
But yeah, if that ever turns into a reality, I'll be happy to throw even more money at you, and I bet it would cater to a whole range of folks if that ever ends up being feasible. Should be pretty obnoxious to put into action though with all the ambiguity surrounding articulations and performance.

I always found the manual confusing with respect to the "pick string" keys in strumming mode. As you mentioned it corresponds to the strings, but somehow in practice it doesn't line up especially for chords with less than 6 notes. I noticed that in those cases, say I have a G Major that only uses the 5th, 4th, and 3rd strings, the first pick string key corresponds to the first note of the chord, the 2nd to the 2nd note of the chord and so on. Once you reach the 4th pick string key, it actually loops and it corresponds to the 1st note of the chord again.
So the manual, and even this video, says that the keys corresponds to the strings, but actually it corresponds to the notes of the chord. In my example, if the manual was to be believed, I expected the 1st, 5th and 6th pick string keys to not play a sound, and only the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th keys to sound.
I really do not mind that it is configured this way. It actually is very handy since I don't have to think about strings, but more so think of it as an arpeggio sequence regardless of the chord notes and voicings. I just wish the manual described it more accurately.

You're right that I did not explain that as well as I could have. In the context of what I was playing (6-note chords), the notes did/do correspond with string #. But your description is more accurate: they correspond with notes of the chord.

My current issue is that I want to do a root+octave style power chord.
This would be E3+E4 in this case so I put down an E3 in the midi piano roll and when I play the single note it will be played on the high A string 7th fret which I where I want it, great!
The moment I add the E4 the problems start.
When I do that the engine decides to play it on the low A and low E string, at the end of the fret board.
This gets me a very undesirable tone and sounds awful.
I've tried to mess with the force string option but no matter what I choose it keeps going to the low A and low E.
I've tried different picking modes, fretting modes, hand positions, hand sizes, min and max preferred frets but nothing gets the notes to play in the place I want them.
When I remove the E4 from the piano roll and only play the E3 it works flawless any time.
I have no clue how to get Shreddage to behave as I want it to, does anyone have an idea?

Hello, thanks for making this tutorial 😊 I am trying to program a rhythm in which the first note of the chord is picked and then, the remaining are strummed. I am using Shreddage 3 Stratus. Do you know how I can achieve that? Thanks 🙏

Thank you for this. Super useful!
What is the best way to get a fingerpicked arpegiatted sound on Stratus? I’ve been trying to use ADPTR Audio Sculpt to quiet the attack with mixed results. Also tried a fast attack compressor, also with mixed results. Any hints?

EDIT: Sorry, I misunderstood your question; that's an interesting one. I think there's probably not a great plugin-level way of doing this... it would have to be done on the individual samples.
Original response: I use Stratus in this video and I thought it sounded pretty good as-is, so I think it's ultimately subjective and depends on the mix a little bit.

@@ImpactSoundworksLLCThx for your reply. Makes sense since you have the whole Rosette library recorded as fingerstyle.

I personally use Ample guitar.. you can do the same stuff, it sounds realistic, and you can do more, like import midi, into the riffer..which lets you create a riff, but you need to know some theory in order to transpose the riff
I only use it, because of a disability, to where i cant play guitar, like i want..my left hand, the chord hand, can't press the strings properly ... i used to be a piano player, and i turned to guitar to strengthen my left hand , after a car accident
i need to write music, and my left hand can't play guitar chords, or piano like it used to
