You appear to be under the false assumption that Apple rush designs and don't know what they're doing. Don't confuse them with some knock off outfit like Xiaomi or others; believe me, they plan each phone design and countless iterations of prototypes thereof, *for years in advance*. Never make the (common) assumption that something you heard via the media was only heard at that time by Apple; they are fully informed, way wayyyyyyyyyy ahead of Joe Bloggs reading "news".

You don’t seem to be up to date with the back glass details. 1. The rear glass on the newer models (15) is thinner and less durable than on the (14) and previous. 2. The reduced repair cost was only done because of point 1 - the glass is thinner and cheaper and less durable. It is not the same durable glass with a lower price. It would be assumed Apple knew these would break easier on the back due to being thinner and made repairs cheaper in an effort to promote repairs.

Now I also feel that Apple should have made the USB C port itself modular. Securely kept in place by the pressure once the device is fully assembled.

13:11 Come on, it's not that hard to reach this conclusion. The parts are serialized and cannot be interchangeable between iPhone models to prevent stolen devices from being used as a source of "official" parts for repairs. The only company that can supply certified parts is itself, it is part of the business model. However, from a safety point of view, there is an indisputable need for parts to be serialized and not interchangeable, whether you like it or not. It is necessary to dimensionalize what it means to ask Apple to give up this control and let someone go out and take parts from devices and place them in others. This means indirectly endorsing the theft to dismantle parts, because today, with all these obstacles, this market exists! Even worse, it is asking this without taking into account other geographical realities, where the crime rate is so high, that it is even more necessary to take actions like this of blocking the hardware to a serial.

As opposed to requiring someone with soldering skills and a complete hot air rework station. Having it attached via cable is a good thing. Do not insult them for that because they will happily change that. It’s basically the only repair that is not somehow blocked or locked down on the phone.

Right to Repair and upgradeability is at the bottom of Apple's priority list. If they made it a higher priority they may well gain a lot of customers but probably not make any more money. People will want to hold on to their devices rather than upgrade. But if they really want to save resources and be a green company they would make that decision.
