I've always loved the model 92,especially the takedowns. The .45 Colt should be a good choice.I look forward to seeing it in action.
Yes, looking forward to the shooting portion.
Nice! Can't wait to see you guys shoot it.
As someone else mentioned, in an 1892 action your 45 Colt can turn into a “45-70 light” with 300 grain bullets over 1500 fps. 240 xtp rounds traveling 1800 fps with max loads of H110 powder. Very cool rifle. Thx for the introduction
Dad loves take-down rifles and this is a nice one. I'm thinking of a 9mm take-down or fold-up carbine.
Thanks. I was waiting to see you test fire the rifle!!
Love that D shaped lever handle! Beautiful rifle thanks for sharing pard'ner🤠
Very cool! I want one! Anything that has "Alaskan" in it's name always grabs my attention.
I've never been, could could easily imagine packing this up there.
Nice takedown, that would have been my top choice, in 357, been looking for ages , anyway I found a Rossi r92 tripple black 38/357, works good.....thanks for this video.
Very cool gun!
What scope ring adapter did you use?
super cool gun
Great looking rifle, very packable.
These are made by Chiappa ... I have one in 44 Mag ... no complaints ... great pack sack survival gun
Fine looking rifle.
How much weight does that scope add ? I think i would skip the scope and just go with irons.
Nice rifle
I like the black finish.
I like the matte finish
I have the cousin of this gun, the .44 mag takedown but can't find a cleaning video for the lever end of this rifle. Do you have to know any resources for more info on properly cleaning back there? This looks so bad ass blacked out like this too. Great scope mount too.
+radioschizo242 I don't, but I still have the rifle. If I can find time I'll experiment.
So, is that actual rubber on the stock, or is it that Duratouch type paint that melts and becomes sticky after 5 years?
You know, like your Browning A Bolt, VW Jetta interior trim or Kowa Scope body melted and got sticky over time?
I may have missed this, but what scope mount is that?
can u give more info on this gun?
What did you pay for the carbine alone?
loved the vid, thanks so much !!! disappointed that there was no follow up :-(
What scope mount did you buy to allow the ghost sight to be used? Good video.
It was a Nikon
Sweet, I'm putting one in my flight bag
How long is the back end of the rifle when taken down? 18 inches? Or longer? Also, how tough is that rubberized coating? It kind of looked like you had some scratches on that one side.
The coating did scratch up. I don't have the gun anymore so unfortunately I can't measure it for you.
Thanks.
So I guess you never got it out to the range?
Nice, but I would have liked to see how you put it together. I would also like to see how it shoots.
This was a Tabletop video, all of that would be in a Shooting Impressions video. We separate the two on our channel because most folks are only looking for one or the other.
not to be picky ... but the 45 colt had a 255 grain bullet at 900-1000 fps. heavier and faster than a .45 acp
Can you please do a video on sling options for this?
Slings are completely a personal preference. They would possible get tangled in takedown/storage.
@@GBGuns True. I ended up with the Nickel version in 38/357. It doesn't seem to like feeding FP projectiles much; jams on feeding. No problems with round nose. Also I find the magazine spring to be stiff and hard to feed all 8 rounds. Are there softer springs available? could trimming some coils off help? There is so little information out there on modifying these.
What bag is that? Can’t find it on your channel
It's the Low-profile takedown bag by Copper Basin
You could had put it together so we could see how it looks! What did it cost?Do they make other calibers?
Well, you can google a picture of it, it costs around 11-1200 USD and it also comes in 357/38 & 44 MAG as well as a stainless finish instead of black.
Ten-four
Graham puts out good content, but I don’t understand why he couldn’t piece it together so we could see the overall set-up?
It wouldn't fit in the frame. It's an old video, I've learned a lot since then, but had to return the gun so unfortunately there's no more to show!
@@GBGuns Return? Was something wrong with it?
What is the name and make of the picatinny rail/ghost sight? Did it come with it?
It was included.
Graham Baates thanks, the one I am looking at just has the ghost ring. I will have to track down the railed version as I quite fancy putting a red dot on it.
Those are made by Skinner Sights in Montana.
@@fberetta100 excellent sights, I have the matte chrome version of this rifle and run a 2 moa CTS reddot on the rail.
What scope is it that he has on the gun
+Gryphon Hartsek it's a Nikon pistol scope
Just found this video and was interested in seeing the shooting video, where can I find that?
We had to take it down
@@GBGuns awww man, that sucks. Sorry to hear that. Well I'm glad I got to see your table top review on such a nice rifle.
Wish they made one in 454 casull or 460 s&w
I just wish you would have shown the rifle put together
That's in the second half, Shooting Impressions
I’m trying to find this bag!!!!!!! Or one like it!!!!!
Sweet Rifle ! Would Be Better In .357mag or .44mag More Loads Out There .
I believe those are also available in those calibers.
+Spinnaker yes they are
They also have a 45-70 gov as well. That would be the one I would pick.
Nice concept, but I think they missed the mark in a few areas.
I hope they shoot buffalo bore loads through it. 300 grains at 1600 fps. Easily Moore powerful than 357 or 44 mag. Look them up.
Their is no denying this a great set up from a classic firearm, but since KelTec came out with the Sub2000 for $500 vs this Alaskan Takedown for over $1200, guess what most people will take with them in the wilderness?
You can try to compare quality, good luck on that! When you go out to the wilderness your life should not be worth $500.00 The Alaskan Take Down any day, any time, and I consider myself same as most people!
I’ve got both, however I purchased the Sub2000 Gen2 a year before my newly acquired Chiappa. Let me tell ya this. Went on a tenting trip few months ago into grizzly country, fresh scat everywhere. Never felt so undergunned with a 9mm before.
I’ve hunted and harvested Grizzly and know what it takes. Feel way more comfortable now with hot load 44 mag next to me, just in case. But it still doesn’t beat my Marlin 1895 45/70 for big critter defense, but it’s much handier, lighter and way more ergonomic. Price does tingle a bit. But it’s worth a better night sleep in a tent, or as some call it a bear burrito.
@@erwins4119 a bear burrito is a hammock, lol. In .45 Colt, you get 8 rds plus one in the chamber. With a good stiff load, that would get a grizzlies attention. Still not a 45/70 but with precise placement, it would do the job. That and a S&W 500 mag handgun, with stiff load as backup, you have a fighting chance against a Apex predator with nerves of steel and experience in such matters. Which I don't claim to have! All the best. You'll never see this post, 5 years later, lol
Sadly our Canadian government just amended a bill that’s before the senate to prohibit all semi auto rifles and shotguns that are box-magazine fed. Bye bye to my kel-tecs and various others.
I’ve got a S&W 460 mag, S&W 44 mag, Ruger Redhawk.45 colt and Glock 20 10mm. All great bear defence pistols however in Canada you can’t carry them. Authorized range use only!
So my leaver guns in .44 or .45/70 are my go to thumpers!
Technically when outdoors camping/hunting/fishing, I’m more worried about 2 legged animals ….
Oops didn’t realize on the five year old review…,but did see your reply!
Stay safe and enjoy life!
@@erwins4119 this thread is not dead, lol. I recently saw a video on you tube where a Canadian man was given a permit to open carry because he was prospecting for gold I think. It was legal and somewhat of a loophole that he capitalized on to his credit. If I can find it in my viewing history, I'll come back to this site with the title of the video.
Your Marlin 45/70 is definitely the ticket for the big Grizzies. They make some spanking loads these days for it. I don't have one but I sub to several you tubers who cherish both the round and their Marlins! Take care my friend. All the best!
the only thing i do not want a top rail.
You didn't even assemble the gun? C'mon, man.
This a tabletop for an article. Shooting impressions is another video for another article
I agree. Putting them together is still tabletop. Otherwise, when is the range review then?
It came out a few days after this video did
Could you share the link of the range review? I tried to look through your uploads but you just have too many to find it.
Yes, I had to because the range was upset I was a using .45 Colt lever gun in the pistol area. Never mind that a 4" 9mm has more muzzle energy :(
dude move your hands, they block the gun and do nothing but distract
Yeah but without them I can't hold the gun so...
