hey whenever I move a clip and it hits the timeline bar thing it gets choppy. the preview is fine, everything is fine if I move a clip withouth hitting the timeline bar is fine but again when I move a clip and it hits the timeline bar thing it gets choppy

Yes! Proxy videos can be very helpful when working with large media. And not to worry, your final rendering will still be full quality 🙂
