Que paulada.
😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Que line-up, hein!
Try to beat that..😮
If u in Florida let me know friend!!
Gary Moore is a beast... dude popped a string and still rocked the shit out of this song.... SAVAGE!!!
Wow , the E String too? RIP Gary , Cozy and Phil
Scott never gets enough credit for his long standing role in TL.
So true. He could take over lead guitar duities if only he wanted to but he seems to always have someone technically a bit more skillful than he was, staying more reserved. But in the Snowy's White era he finnally unleashed his lead playing, going hand in hand with him.
Shoulda matched the guitar volumes
You're joking, right? While Scott's name doesn't usually come up like Robbo, Moore, Sykes (or even Snowy) and he may not have been the same technical player as some of the others, *all* true Lizzy fans absolutely give him the credit he deserves.
No need to argue my friends. They are all incredible in their own style
When I was a teenager living in Scotland listening to these guys all i wanted was to have hair like scot's lol
Gary Moore one of the rare guitar talents that could play beautiful heart felt guitar then within seconds play balls to the wall rock. Yhis clip shows this perfectly. Guy was huge in Europe, not so much here in the States. That was a shame.
Phil's bass cutting through the mix like a warm knife through butter
I thought the same thing
Yes sir!
Textbook tight and heavy... man, he surely knew how to rock!
The late great cozy Powell on drums too. Some line up.
Not to state the obvious but I will anyway. Don on keys, Cozy on drums, Scott on guitar and Phil and Gary. Amazing talent all jamming together. Unbelievably crazy.
5 strings and a middle finger ! 🔥
❤
sounds better with 5 strings than most with 6!
5 strings and the truth!
I thought I saw a broken string on Gary's guitar
Would have fared ok on 2
His phrasing and timing. 😮
Give Gary a shoebox and some rubber bands and he’d still produce a blistering solo.
Is this guitar Greeny? Now owned by Kirk Hammet.
I didnt hear one plink of piano or organ in this brilliant song..and for that i am grateful!!
Maybe get your ears need checked there is a low Hammond/synth pad in the background as a keyboardist and guitarist I find your comment ignorant and insulting having keys in a song does not make it less ballsy ever heard of a band called Deep Purple
Ahhh. The Old Grey Whistle Test. There were those who watched TOTP for the latest mainstream hits and those who inhaled OGWT's weekly - often breathtaking - live performances of a usually more substantial nature. A great introduction to some diverse avante garde artists and bands of the time, who then became enduring classics.
Truly, we were well blessed in the 70's. 😊
I listen to at least one TL song a day, most of the time, alot more. To the young ones out there who think they know, you don't.
Consummate professional playing the whole thing with a broken E string and not blinking an eye. RIP Gary Moore.
Powell, Moore, Airey and the Lizzy boys. That's a super group!
Don't forget Gary was a Lizzy boy way back when. He replaced Eric Bell.
Definitely
@@guillermo3564True
Half Lizzy and half of Rainbow!
Phil was the man
Jesus, what a lineup!!!!! Phil, Gary, Scott and Cozy!!!!!!!!!!!!1
RIP PHIL LYNOT AND GARY MOORE 4ever don’t forget 🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶
❤
I will always love Thin Lizzy. One of the best bands ever!!!!
Man that sounds clear as a bell.... fantastic bass clarity, whoile thing is amazing...nice work.
I mean, you can hear the bass bum notes and all, when not much else is happening. Not quite sure that's what you meant.
Gary Moore... What a fantastic musician! 👍👍
Scott Gorham is no slouch either, great to see them going toe to toe
Gary Moore was awesome - always seemed a miserable sod though lol
@@9418matthewYeh I had a friend that met him in the early 80s. Let's just say "don't meet your heroes" and leave it at that.
@@Mustaine1ifyI was lucky enough to meet Gary several times then and he was great every time - he had a reputation for being difficult, so I’d hesitated to approach him the first time but he couldn’t have been nicer to me.
@@derekclacton That's nice to hear, everyone has bad days I guess.
Philip Lifted them up to the spot light with another incredible old friend Downing
What a great closing sequence. Just all-around outstanding musicianship.
Gary busts a string on Greenie moments after introducing his own song LIVE on the BBC ...goes on to turn in the performance of a lifetime
Seems to be broken earlier
No doubt. Wow
@@acajutla Yeah, I think he broke it in the very last moments of the previous song Back On The Streets and decided to just carry on. Looking at his reaction, I think he may even have not realised it was broken until they'd already started playing DBAW.
Absolute beast !
Thin LIzzy with Cozy Powell - great stuff.
I know that being nostalgic is not that good and it could lead into depression but... this is just as good as music ever becomes to me.
These guys were the Rockers and the Rollers and nothing compares to them. Period.
Amen.
Rather be nostalgically depressed knowing that I have seen Thin Lizzy with Gary Moore, and Cozy Powell with Rainbow.
I feel depressed without nostalgia! Music today leaves me cold.
@@nonnayoubuzinnes1669 Try Madison Cunningham. ❤
Amen.
A real luxury to see this performance on the BBC, an extraordinary selection of musicians...
God I wish these two were still around
Best irish rock band of all time. 🎸🥁🎶🇮🇪RIP Phil and gary .
Phil Lynott is the Man !
Wonderful...Terribly sad to think that 3 of those Brilliant musicians are no longer with us.
Ja du har så meget ret.😪😘🇩🇰
God-DAMN.... more heroes of ours die every year...
3???
@NikkieRoxxx ..Gary Phil and Cozy...did u not know?
Phil 's end was a tragedy. Poor fucker.
Absolute top flight musicians. Gary was a big influence on my playing and I had deep respect for these guys. Straight up live rock and blues, it doesnt get any better than this, IMO.
Hey Phil, I love you❤
Great,great!
That was one of his Massive Talents
nice vid/ r.i.p. Phil & Gary
Broken E string. NO PROBLEM! Lets ROCK! RIP Gary Moore You are dearly missed! 😪
It doesn't get much better than that. My favourite all time Thin Lizzy track
I agree… one of my top 3. The other two being: ‘The Rocker’. & ‘Emerald’.
I saw Lizzy 5 times👀. Dbolx😎. Pure entertainment.
What a Band, should have been bigger here in US. Always in my top 3 Bands ever.
Gary's Vibrato is the best in the business.
Epic track and a brilliant job on the Remastering, especially the video which is wonderful. RIP Gary, Phil & Cozy.
Broke a string and still sounding awsome ! Who needs 6 strings when you know all the positions on the fretboard like the back of your hand. What a legend.
Great band with two of it's finest players Phil Lynott and Gary Moore ❤🎸❤️🎸
I was lucky enough to have watched Gary 6times live and I was mesmerised each time, I’ve seen some o the “best axes” in my day and as a perfectionist on guitar he’s the best. May his music live on and on. 👍🏴🎸
Saw him twice...Brilliant!!
Saw him twice on Shapes of things, he's the master...and I've seen the best there is from Uli Jon Roth (got his autograph) to RR, Frank Marino on power of R&R to JEL, Michael Schenker, Brad Gillis (when he replaced RR, Steve Vai (got his auto) EVH (6 times (he gave me a beer), Yngwie, Dime (many times ~ auto twice once before Metal Magic and once during DamagePlan. Seen the best and Gary is easily top 5. His tone also is mesmerizing. Cheers.
What a performance..sad to note to that 3 of these guys are no longer with us.
Gary, Phil and ?
@@johnthonig1692Cozy on drums
I am still crushed-that my favorite Musician of all time died in February of 2011
Wow, didn’t notice Cozy at first! 😮
@@calvinlemon9529I’m with you 😢
Is this the famous '59 Paul ? With a broken low E string ! Guess he didn't need it ;-) Absolutely monster of a player, Gary ! Saw him with a trio opening for ZZ Top - He got the whole package with tone, melody, speed and dynamics ! RIP Gary !
Wow that is brilliant. Gary Moore an absolute legend and the tone of Phil’s bass is superb and with Cozy and Scott along side 👏👏
Was that Cozy drumming? What happened to Brian?
Fixed bridge for the win. Thin Lizzy was awesome.
Words cannot express how badass this whole performance is, from the Phil's basslines to Gary's shredding at the end.
Just amazing
There may have been members of Thin Lizzy there, but the headline artist was Gary Moore, promoting his "Back on the Streets" album
Göttlich
Had the pleasure of seeing Gary 3 times live!! Absolutely brilliant. Seen many since but nobody really came close to this genius 😢
I agree...
I played guitar for some years already, and I always went home with a complex because of his guitar playing.
A complex because 'I'll never gonna be that good' 😀
The first 3 concerts I ever saw: 1. Gary Moore. 2. Gary Moore. 3. Gary Moore.
ihanks i always loved thin lizzy
That confirms it - Gary never gets old! I thought I'd heard most of his recordings but I've never heard this version before. Just superb!!
Welcome
Lovely to see Greeny being used to such good effect. The tone on the slow part is amazing, and distinctly reminiscent of Peter Green.
BRILLIANT !
They simply don't make them like this anymore 😢 Moore's searching guitar and Phil's hypnotic bass! GREAT 👍
Absolutely prodigious performance! Thank you so much BrunoSamppa!! Greenie, in the hands of master Gary Moore, just sounds incredible!
Gary and Scott, the best guitar line up that Lizzy had.
First time hearing this song: FRICKING FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine if this a functional band. Airey, Gorham, Cozy, Phil and Gary.
Explosive…
Might be my favorite fantasy lineup that ACTUALLY happened.
How is this not in the rrhof.....
Criminal....
Cozy Powell on drums. Awesome
The fills are superb.
I suppose then he moved on to rainbow after the dissolution. Ritchie and Cozy did some fantastic work together. At one point they even were able to get Jon Sykes on board.
Seen Gary Moore many times, always brilliant, I wish I’d sen him with Phil. What a team RIP. BOTH
Love Gary's wooden cross
Genius ❤
christ i wish this music was still being made great post ty
Phils bass line send shivers down my back. Just so powerful.
I saw them in '79 when they opened for Journey at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino. Blew Journey off the stage.
This is incredible. I have all the records by gary. This performance is .......... I got no words
Ja, du hast so so sehr recht. Meine Seele geht noch nicht auf Reisen. Aber wenn, dann zu den Jungs. Danke für eure wunderbaren songs. Thx
Same here, first time i hear it.
I have all records by GM, do you have Blues for Greeny/Jimi? G-Force? Grinding Stone? Bruce/Baker/Moore? Skid Row? Black Rose? His entire catalog is amazing. Is there some deep cut obscure album i'm not aware of? Let me know if i'm missing something. But yeah, the tone of the guitar in this vid is amazing, not to mention his playing. RIP the master...
Doesn't help much in the comments section :(
@@KillerMcDiller Don't forget the Greg Lake live album that he is on, and Colossium
Wow.. Cozy Powell on drums..
Yes I noticed too. Didn't know he ever played with Thin Lizzy.
F@cking wow!!!! I have never heard this version before, I am used to hearing the single version which is a classic but this is amazing.
Agreed.
Love Gary Moore and Phil Lynette together! This is amazing! Hope you both are still rocking!! ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
They literally died.
???
@@_thaiszanoviak
I think that's why he said "still". He knows they are dead and he means that he hopes they are rocking in heaven.
@_thaiszanoviak literally don't take that comment so literally......
I have seen Gary twice live genius.
What a supremely gifted guitarist Gary was ....... Man I miss him 😢
Wow. What an amazing performance. Thank you for the upload.
Absolutely stunning performance from Gary Moore & Friends
That man was born with a guitar in his hand, on fire right from the start.
Gooooöd!
Broken string
Not a problem Gary .
Well done son ❤
Why isn’t The Old Grey Whistle Test on today, right now? With record sales down like it is, except for a select few, and artists having to play live to make any kind of money you’d think they would queuing to showcase their chops on a show like this. [Excuse me for channelling my inner Walter Sobchak here:] AM I WRONG?!
Awesome xx
Goddamn it doesn't get better than this! Yahoo!!
Wow!!!
Awesome
I love so much this song...and I adore these two LEGENDS🎸🎸❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💋
Awesome and a bit of cozy thrown in to🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟
What a perfect sound. Good Job Bruno. Love Garys Gibson Les Paules so much.
Greets from Germany.
Is this Peter Greens old Les Paul. Definitely has the tone
Looks like Cozy on the drums!! Great video thanks for sharing.
Deep thnx for the upload. We must never forget this electrifying band
It would be a great. Song to be used while voting at polling booths. The name of the song says it all don’t believe a word.
This is badass
4:08 his sting broke... But like nothing happened ❤gary the legend 🎉!!!!
OMG he broke his string again just like he did in the Sydney Operahouse but never missed a guitar riff note, sick killer totally fricking raging!🍀🇮🇪☘⸸⁶⁶⁶⛧🤘
Losing your bottom E string isn't too troublesome. Losing one of the top three is when it gets very tricky.
Approved.
Nothing as good as this now
JEEEEEEZUS!!!!!
i love how you brought gorhams guitar up to where it should be in the fast part, in previous videos he has been lost in muddy sound, you cleaned it right up and is now more appreciable. thank you so much!
We all know how special a Gary was but Scott could play with anybody
One of my favorite bands
Incredible and amazing 👍👍👍
