      You can't. The president of the Comission is not chosen demcratically.

      I mean the commision president is chosen by the parliament where we do vote for. The same way the prime minister is voted in on a national level.

    This is so cringe. Like a game show than a serious debate and serious urgency.

    It's a shame that the conservatives are boycotting this debate. It would be great if they could come and present their views on the big stage like these people.

    This debate feels so anti democratic. More than 50% (of the Dutch people are happy with the new plans of the Netherlands. From the left and from the right. It is ridiculous to call VVD out for being democratic.

      @krunoslavkovacec1842 Před 28 dny +1

      Well, the whole process of (s)electing a president of the European Comission is undemocratic or even anti-democratic...

    • @userytx
      @userytx Před 28 dny +8

      Because a democratic party joining forces with anti-democratic forces is an issue and reason for criticism. People also elected extremists in the 20th century democratically, your point?

      @@userytx What's your point? I just stated that the "lead candidate" scheme is undemocratic and therefore how can you expect a democratic debate ?

      Speak for yourself please. I am Dutch too. Many points of the coalition agreement are contrary to the constitution and to the rule of law. The judiciary, the media, education, minorities are in danger. People from the cities (randstad) do not want this government. Democracy is not about the rule of the majority at the cost of minority but it's about the majority taking care of the minority and individual democratic freedoms, and when you have a party like the PVV that is anti-constitutional in nature, you do not form a coalition with it so you don't undermine the rule of law and your liberal values (because the VVD is liberal). Also more than 50% that voted wanted this, but not more than 50% of the Dutch people because not everybody votes. Do your calculations.
