In this travel vlog, we explore Barranquilla Colombia. I mainly explored the downtown area and beach Kilymandiaro Sunset Paradise Beach club. Beforehand, I had no idea everything closes down for Christmas Eve and New year's so I ended trying to salvage the day. Overall, the vibe in Barranquilla was not that great which was a bit disappointing. Overall, It's not the safest I've felt walking around and it definitely was not as friendly as Medellin and other places. Additionally, I think I only seen one or two other tourists the entire time I was there which is unheard of in Colombia. Even with all of this, I would still recommend you visit to at least experience it, maybe book for 2 to 3 days then keep going. Hope you guys enjoy this vlog! Saludos!

Hey! Im someone from Barranquilla, and please dont come to our city with these expectations since we are a third world country. Its not as safe as the United States, we are different than Cali, or Medellin. So please dont come with those expectations, as our country is different everywhere, and dont judge this city by your first trip. You came in december, months that we arent really out, working and preparing. You have to remember barranquilla is a normal city, with working people, not always out. We are really joyful people, and im sorry if you were mistreated during your trip here. Thank you for visiting though!

Family is from Barranquilla been traveling there all my life. Tourists: just stay in the North part of the city, and even there be mindful of your surroundings and avoid walking as much as possible. Use a car for all your movements. Nothing to see in Downtown, forget about exploring different neighborhoods down south. You basically walked the equivalent of Colombia's Baltimore hoods expecting the walk to be pleasant 🤣 If you want to let your guard down just a little stick to the historic district of Cartagena

This will sound hash, but thanks for deciding to post this - it is actually a very good guide of exactly what NOT to do in a major city in Latin America. Does zero research, wanders around the most dangerous area of the city with phone out blabbing English, goes to a beach club outside the city on December 24 at 5pm and wonders where everyone is, orders drinks in rapid-fire English like you're at an all-inclusive in Mexico, downs the shot immediately (did you hear her reaction), wanders around again with no plan and no cash. You were very lucky!

December 24th everyone parties at their house with their family. For that particular day the key was finding a local to take you to their house. In February during carnival is when you'll see tons of parties.

As I was walking around I noticed most of everything was closed but there was a TON of families in their front yard drinking and dancing and I was like uggghhhh. I love Barranquilla. Colombian holidays (even Sundays) are a big deal. Well compared to Mexico where I live and the UK where I'm from, the streets are so quiet in these periods and so many things are closed. Also Colombia is one of the countries in the world with the most national holidays.

Bruh the reason why Uber drivers in the Caribbean and South America try to see if you can pay in cash is because Uber sometimes takes 30 days to pay them and they charge the driver's fees. So when they're asking you do you want to cancel they would rather just take the cash then wait 30 days and be charged these fees. Play still have to pay for gasoline back and forth everyday.

This is great information, I didn't know that, but at the same time, I try to carry as minimum cash as possible in certain places for obvious reasons. The service I was requesting wasn't in line with what I was accustomed to from this company so it threw me off. I've hailed a Uber in over 35 countries and have never been asked this, do you can see why I was skeptical. It ended up working itself out 🍻
