@sourhour3403 Good catch! this is a really late reply but I’m a former detective so I had to comment. I’m happy you noticed that, and it’s actually a real interrogation technique that the FBI teaches. It’s called a “pregnant pause” and it serves the purpose you assumed it did. At the moment of confrontation they basically have a natural tendency to fill the awkward silence, often with information that explains the evidence before you finish confronting them about it. But due to the adrenaline dump and lack of prep time, they almost always give an inconsistency, a lie, or accidental confession (excited utterance) by mistake, leaving the interviewer with more evidence than before.
(I started typing to explain the technique but started explaining the nuances and eventually ended up writing something that resembled a published scholarly article, so if you’re interested you can find out more online lol)

    One small thing
When you load into a zombie game solo, you play as one of 4 characters. Rarely does this matter in speed runs but in shadows of evil you must get a certain character, Nero, because he can let you perform a certain step (upgraded swords) much faster then every other character. Which means runs must get Nero and reign drops in order to get past round 1, and it’s why soe takes a lot of luck.

Imagine if we had a sprint but you can only accept times if the guy successfully calls 10 coin flips in a row or something. At that point is it really a speed competition or just who averages out to be luckier because that means by default they get more practice and attempts?

This is the one point I gotta agree on with the cheater. A lot of speedrun communities specifically mod out RNG like that because there's literally no skill in it and it's just a waste of time having to reset runs because of it. Imo his mod should be integrated into the infinite gobblegum mod and that's that.

also side note but even if that wouldnt be allowed, it would be hilarious if there was a speedrunning equivalent of like, drugged up olympics where mods and cheats ARE allowed for this specific category and the cheaters all compete against each other for the fastest possible (or impossible) time

You see other cheaters who do this, but the fact this guy also dedicated 6 months to planning out/slowly improving his time to make it seem "legitimate" is so odd. You're right, if he played those 6 months legitimately he might not have gotten a WR but he definitely had a chance to become very respected in the category. since he was confronted with evidence we skipped the condescending denial stage and went into the pleading denial stage that all cheaters go through. that's why some people feel he's more sincere, because he skipped a step. if they confronted him without showing him the evidence first he would have been very condescending and confrontational since that's the first step that literally all disgusting cheating filth go through when caught.

It's likely there would be detectable encoding artifacts. If the videos are losslessly stitched together, it would be obvious in the file. If the video got re-encoded, that should be detectable as well (as every re-encoding reduces the quality a bit). I'm not an expert, but it seems very likely someone could detect a splice from analyzing the pixels.
