Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Revue Featuring The McCrary Sisters performing "Mercy Now" at Music City Roots live from the Loveless Cafe on 3.16.2011
Mike & Cindy Jones, Realtors Man! I have never heard this man sing but I think you may be right! He's amazing! Wowzer! Yellowstone tv series brought me to this song and I found him.
I totally agree, first time I saw him he was baking up Delbert McClinton. As soon as I got home I started researching and listening to how many notes he could hit without any strain. Been listening ever since.
Mike, you left out a crucial verse! "My church and my country can use a little mercy now. As they sink into a poison pit that's going to take forever to climb out. They carry the weight of the faithful who follow them down. I love my church and country They could use some mercy now." Amen!!
I'm so sorry for all the trials & tribulations you've had to endure...God Blessed your sweet soul Mike with your fantastic voice not only for singing for but public speaking!! Ty for sharing your "calling"with the world! I love anything you "sang" 👈(had to put a lil funk on it) You're wise beyond yrs to hear the Lord speak to your heart & soul ...he gave us all a gift when you had the FAITH to believe his almighty word. Amen to he song!!! #SCW #I❤SCW #MercyVow #RockOnBrother May God Bless & have MERCY NOW on us all!!!🙏🎤🎸🎼❤
Been following Mike since Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, and it took me here. I love all forms of music... Bluegrass, Rock, Country, Blues and even Gospel - although I am not a believer. I'm glad Mike found religion. If it keeps him around to belt out songs like that, I'll keep listening.
I just came across this through a friend of mine who suggested it to me. It is amazing!! But...Just curious why you aren't a believer? Not here to argue or anything, just curious. :)
Heard Mike Live last night here in England, he is simply the best I've heard, buzzing and will be for weeks, what an artists this man is!!!!!!!! Never stop playing music Mike, stay healthy, peace brother to and the wonderful wife of yours Julie, amen :-) :-) :-)
I truly do not understand a person coming to this music, or any, music video on youtube to give it a thumbs down. Like, why are you here? Just to dislike it?
I just love this voice, and I'm feeling every single word, I have been listening to this song since my Daddy passed away on 11/21/21 and it was very realistic to me!!! My brother was part of the song that represented him and his life up till then, now He has been given Mercy Now, with his 5 agents and a heart attack waiting to happen!! God gave him the mercy to go on and have a wonderful life, be the best he can be, with 2 little boys that need their Daddy!! It's a great song!!
This is probably one of my favorite songs that Mike performs...he is awesome... PRAISE GOD...this song helped me through some extremely difficult times!!! GOD BLESS AND KEEP HIM, IN JESUS NAME
Thank God everyday my momma taught me what real music was. Love you always Diana Bond 😘😘😘😘 This is the way the world should be thinking. Exactly what he's singing
Had the privelage of seeing and meeting Mike this past weekend........what a truly wonderful gift to the world of music. Wishing you a wonderful journey as you share your love of God and your amazing voice with the world Mike!
Brilliant ! My wife and I saw Mike at Ludlow Garage in Cincinnati last year. It was one of the best concerts we've ever seen - and, yes, he sang "Mercy Now" !
This Is Most Definitely , THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SONG , Ive Ever Heard . As A Song Writer , This Piece TOUCHES ME Unlike Anything Ive Ever Written . Its Jazz , Its Gosple , Its Country , It's GORGEOUS
I'm so grateful my good friend Stu Spector turned me on to you. You and your band feed my soul and my spirit rejoices when I sing along. Truely pure worship. Thank you and may the Good Lord continue to bless you...
I just discovered Mike Farris. Wow! This guy has the feel of the 60's-70's. Just so serene, cool and filled with spirit. And what a voice. Bless you and the music.
Just found my way back to the Lord about a year ago (or maybe He came lookin', not sure which!), and just found Mike Farris about a month ago doing Take Me To The River on one of Delbert's cruises. Some of the best gospel I've heard, lovin' it a lot!
Love this one not only because it's live but you can really see he's singing from his heart & it touches in different areas of each & everyone of us. Kimberlee Lever is right on it & well said in her comment. Also, the end when silence hits & he's smiling & u can see his humor. His personality is fun loving, joking & really funny. Looking forward to next month
Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Review, featuring The McCrary Sisters, are clearly united in musical mind and spirit as they perform, "Mercy Now". This performance soulfully shines with instrumental production that lends itself to the 70s. And the lyrical message is one from right out of the Church and into the secular, where Gospel, Rhythm and Blues coincides, breaking down musical and social barriers, as we are all of one human race, together in need of mercy from our Creator and Lord in Heaven.
Shout out to Mike Farris and everything he's accomplished. Love the music. SCW got me hooked and seen him live at bonarroo! Biggest thing to come out of mid. TN!!!
Was just introduced to Mike Farris at Merlefest in Wilkesboro, NC April 29th .... bought both CD's and I have been at that festival 20 of the 30 years and never purchased 2 CD's by the same artist. I have tickets for a show in Charleston, SC on May 6th and can't wait!
Wow - wow! Was gonna listen to Mary sing this (instead of me) for minute, cause need it more than ever. Found Mike Farris - man!! Love the bluesy rendition. Just goes to show - it's a masterpiece in any genre!
I just heard this for the first time.... Wow that performance but those back up singers nearly stole the show. This made cry it was so good. I'm a fan now
one my VERY MOST FAVORITE songs of ALL time ! God bless you Mike , please keep it up !!! Amen. --- - peace - n- much love 2 u n yours my brother. - Roy Aguirre
the weird thing is, folks, that the first time I heard this song I heard it the other way round. Like, we ask for mercy, but how much mercy do we give? my father could use some mercy from me, do I give it? My sister needs my mercy, do I stay aware of that? Every single one of you needs mercy from every single one of us. Am I giving all I could give? Some songs do that. Turn around. Sometimes hard to know whether it's God's love or human love. Or both.
+Alan Waller I wondered if the incarcerated brother had any mercy upon his victims (assuming not a victimless crime)? Do we deserve mercy when we have foolishly followed and conceded our sovereignty to those that will do anything to stay in power (that is our political AND religious leaders these days)? No, I think the only deserving of mercy are the truly innocent and there are very few even slightly innocent in todays society......
Hi AP PA, Up to now I had never thought of the possibility that the Brother in this song was an incarcerated criminal with victims. I had only seen the scenario that he was the prisoner of his own fears and doubts, and unable to move freely through life because of this. Whose only victim was himself… Does your interpretation make a difference? I'm not sure it does. For me part of the charm of this song is not about deserving mercy; it's about needing it, and possible receiving it anyway despite knowing that we don't deserve it. Really, I have never understood what mercy really means. For me, it's not some higher being saying that I will not be punished despite having done bad things or having missed doing good things I could have done. It's not about somebody agreeing to pretend I never made bad decisions in life. For me it's something about being granted new chances to do it better. Living in a democracy, I believe we don't have to concede our sovereignty to anybody. We give our leaders a temporary mandate to borrow it. If we don't like how they handle that, we terminate their mandate and retake our sovereignty. We don't have to give up trying just because we're far from innocent!
Alan, I see immediately that I was incorrect about the brother, makes more sense that he has some sort of disorder that has trapped him in his own existence, schizophrenia or the likes, making him innocent and deserving of our mercy....
+AP PA, I think the brother in the song represents every man/woman. We all combat our own fears and doubts that if we give into can keep us from our goals or our full potential. For some its worse than others but we all have them.
Incredibly insane talent! WOW! most feeling ever!!! mike you and the guys made me feel it! and the lady that sings at the end, priceless! best video EVER! CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU LIVE!
I think, (and Janis Joplin might agree if she were here), that THIS is what music is all about. This performance does shine, (or in "Touched By An Angel" language), it "has the shine!!! Thanks guys and gals!
At 5:10, that is pure emotion, what a great, unexpected expression for not only us CZcamsrs but the band itself. Beautiful acknowledgement and finish Mike!
Just saw Mike and his CZcamss for first time yesterday, and now this performance today. The surprise ending is spectacular and makes me cry my eyes out every time so far..... so blessed by Mike Farris, Mary Gautier and this amazing band. thanks to Music City Roots and You Tube for sharing this.
This song is perfect for my brother at this time, We just lost our father, please pray for us 💔💔
Mike Farris - what a voice!
Mary Gauthier - what a songwriter!
This song speaks to the core of me.
Been listening to this cat since early in the Wheelies days. He is by far the most under rated singer ever. Amazing talent
Mike & Cindy Jones, Realtors Man! I have never heard this man sing but I think you may be right! He's amazing! Wowzer!
Yellowstone tv series brought me to this song and I found him.
I agree! Early 90s I wondered what a Screamin Cheetah Wheelies was and Lord have mercy! Sings with passion!
Mike Jones agree!!
I totally agree, first time I saw him he was baking up Delbert McClinton. As soon as I got home I started researching and listening to how many notes he could hit without any strain. Been listening ever since.
Truer words have never been spoke
Mike, you left out a crucial verse!
"My church and my country can use a little mercy now.
As they sink into a poison pit that's going to take forever to climb out.
They carry the weight of the faithful who follow them down.
I love my church and country
They could use some mercy now."
Amen!!
I expect it's deliberate, considering what I know of him.
They left the verse out due to political correctness. Weak!!!
Look, I love the guy. But if you're gonna cover someone's song you shouldn't misrepresent it.
Love that!!❤❤❤❤ WhiteTiger333
I WANT to hear ALL of the verses sung as written!!
😭💔😭💔😭
Anyone listening to this 10 years later in 2021?

I am agnostic, but you don't need to be religious to love gospel, only human.
