- Here is a list of my top 10 Stone Roses guitar riffs from the under appreciated John Squire. This video probably doesn't quite do Squire's playing justice as some of his best guitar work can be found in the licks and fills that layer up the Manchester bands' distinct sound.

At the end of every riff here I hear Mani’s bass coming in.
same>>
They have such a good mix of bass and guitar, they play around each other and work together, rather than the guitar doing the riff and the bass doing the root notes
Great bass player. Mani n Reni are underrated. Top top rhythm section
Squire's solo at the end of "I am the resurrection" was top class!
Best thing they ever did.
The last 4 minutes of the song is the pinnacle of already amazing album. Everything just comes together in it so nicely
Love Spreads is probably the coolest and most underrated guitar riff of all time. Brilliantly Page-esque. And yes, John Squire should definitely be more appreciated.
What is its rating? What rating should it have?

@@alex6996 well done, that’s nearly a word. Keep it up! Maybe, if you work really hard, one day, you can be underrated too!
It's a great riff
Hint: Find a beginner course on slide guitar and I'm not quite sure if it's lesson #1 or #2. You're welcome 🤣😂
Non guitarists are such dumbasses.... _everything_ is amazing and "underrated" 😁
The guitar arrangement on "Bye bye badman" alone should put Squire on the list of greats, regardless of anything else he ever did
I Wanna Be Adored is impossibly good. Everything about it hits the nail on the head.
its where it all began. Utter perfection-
If not the realmusicfans™ and music "experts" that make all of the lists of the best songs ever and put old ass boring songs in it i wanna be adored would be at the very top of best songs overall
I mean its absolutely fabulous
Top 10 Radiohead or the Clash riffs
radiohead immediately
The Clash!!! Yes!
Would kill to see a The Clash one
Both of those would be fantastic. 2 of my favourite bands
+1 for radiohead
that love spreads riff is absolute ART just perfection
She Bangs the Drums has some killer guitar work too
Adrian Woodward does an excellent lesson for it on his channel. You should definitely check it out.
@@indieguy81 i learned to play the song from his video :)
@@jakobgustafsson7898 Me too! He's the best instructor on YT, in my opinion.
Waterfall is possibly my favorite Stone Roses song. It's so soothing. Great video as always.
What the World Is Waiting for is Severely underated, great tune.
Love spreads and waterfall are spot on, can you do the Smiths next?
I love the recognition you gave Begging You. That is a crazy, awesome track that shows a whole wild side to the dance rock that they always touched on in their discography.
It's amazing to see these classic riffs being played as they are not complicated. Says so much for John Squire's playing getting straight forward riffs to sound so massive. Love it.
Second coming is an underrated album
Totally
Absolutely. Tears is top 5 Roses for me, what a tune.
It's a great album. At least 7 tracks on it are top drawer stuff
Yes sir, it stands proud beside their debut
Each and every Stone Roses track is unique and captivating in it's own way (as in, it sticks with you), and that...that, is the beauty of the whole Stone Roses discography!
Sometimes I forget how good their debut album was and I have to listen to it all over again and it never bores me
The debut album was good, but so was the other one.
something pains me to not see I Am The Resurrection here. but something also makes me happy to finally see The Stone Roses get some love.
Funny, I’ve been on a Stone Roses binge for the past few days and now this drops. Awesome
This is great, needs more Second Coming riffs though as that album is riff heaven!
Nothing on the Second Coming matches anything on the debut, and I like Second Coming.
@@punkoid76 so True, and I like Second Coming too
Good times what a riff!!
@@punkoid76 agree with you mostly but honestly I reckon tightrope was the best thing they ever did
Great but what about “Drivin’ South”?
Yep came here to say that
@@hainzy Me too...
Love these. Having to fill in Mani's bass parts in my head. As well as Reni's drums on Fool's Gold.
Thank you for showcasing one of the most underrated bands in the world, honestly didn't expect this video. Great playing!
I love the Stone Roses so much, every song is so distinctive and full of hooks
I’ve been going through a roses phase this week...... John squire is a master.
You’ve made my week.
Cheers
Love from Dublin
1:40 is so clean 👌
I think this is more, top ten riffs I can play. Where’s shoot you down? Bye bye bad man? Ten story love song? One Love? Standing here? List goes on.
You got the tones spot on for most.
Wow....
I wasn't expecting this
Such a great band
Keep up with good work
I was glad to saw this
Love the sound, it's absolutely bang on, and your fingering on Waterfall is perfect - great job!
I really love your style of playing man, keep it rocking!!
Standing here. Where angels play are two of my favourite pieces by John. The outro on standing here is so good.
Bloxsy, thank you for introducing me to all these great sounding riffs and bands. I subscribed for more of your work. Keep it up :)
One of my favorite videos on CZcams of all time
The title of the video is enough to draw a man in and sit watching on repeat.
Spectacular!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Nice work, Homes! And you're right, Mr. Squire is under appreciated.
Nice to see Squire's Stone Roses guitarwork being praised, but I would love to see some of Johnny Marr's riffs (specially because I still have no idea how to play such notes)
This is great, thank you Bloxy. Makes me want to pick up my guitar and go over to the tabulature sites. Great tones for each tune, also.
Thanks mate. I appreciate it.
Top 10 The Strokes or The Hives riffs
The hives would be awesome
Excellent sound. Excellent playing. 👏🏻
Sally Cinnamon, I wanna be adored , Water Fall are my faves that Nice😊
Ideally, I would like to play bass Riffs @ I wanna be adored 。
Bloody hell...I needed this!
Great video.. Great riffs
you've outdone yourself with this one! 👏
Thank you!
great selection and very accurate sounds too! but to me, she bangs the drums riff can never be missed.
I always like the videos, I'm a big fan of the channel. But I only remember commenting later. 😊🧡
i'd love if you made a separate video for the top 10 riffs on the second coming album. JS developed so much in the 5 years between the first and second album. honestly i think their second album imitates/exhibits the mississippi delta blues style - the one keith richards, jimmy paige and co. obsessed over - better than any other rock album in history.
Been waiting so long for this.. the intro to This is the One gets me every single time man.
Love that the roses are United fans and its played at Old Trafford.
Class content as usual mate keep it going 👍
Next ten uploads would be to play all ten in full 👌🏼
SIMPLY FANTASTIC!
Definitely need to check this band out.
Thanks!
Their first album is the best.
This guy's a top class 👏 player!!! Congrats.
Great playing our kid! Sally Cinnamon was bang-on!
omg another great vid. you should do "top 10 the smiths riffs" but completely up to you.
Good to see All For One getting some love! I must admit when it first got released it didn’t grip me, love it now though
Killer tone. Beautiful harmonic distortion!
love spreads&this is the one
so nice! like it.
Great riffs
Bro you nailed his tone!
Top 10 the doors or yes riffs?
Yes riffs would be cool
@@DannyBoi2112 steve howe is very underatted
Top stuff!
Nice to know there are people out there as fanatical about the roses as me.
Gorgeous tone.
Great thanks ❤
Superb mate
Shoot You Down? Some of Squires most sublime work.
I was just thinking this. Such a severely underrated song in general, and that guitar playing is beautiful.
@@andrewmartinez9158 as an album The Stone Roses is very highly rated so I wouldn’t consider any track off it underrated as such, but the fact it doesn’t make this list kind of proves your point.
Excellent!
All For One is an underrated riff and the tone is sublime
Amazing!
Love this.
So glad to see Fools Gold at no 1.
Top 10 The Fall riffs, also a video on your guitar collection would be cool
Love it, the roses are brill
Awesome video dude! Not even a fan of Stone Roses :D Not sure if you listen/like Pulp but I think a top 10 Pulp riffs would be awesome! :)
No Breaking into Heaven? No Tears? No Good Times? No Daybreak? No Driving South?
Tears should definitely be here.
@@sonicdiablo8968 Probably my favorite by them, absolute tune
Good choice , I like breaking into heaven and Standing here
Excellent
Mighty riffs
excellent man, please make top 10 riffs of the smiths
Nailed it!!
such an awesome band
The Best of the Best, The Stone Roses
C’mon Bloxsy .... top 10 Verve riffs let’s goooo
most of these songs I don’t know the whole thing but they all sound so familiar cause I used to hear it when I went to school like every day
Fantastic
Thanks buddy
Good times is a great guitar tune!!
Video idea: Top 10 System Of A Down riffs
Sweet! Nice guitar sounds, nice guitar. Good choices. The Stone Roses and the La’s were the basis of Brit pop.
I LOVE YOU STONE ROSES♧♧♧
Fools Gold is the greatest song ever.
Driving South has cool riff too.
one of the best bands ever
brother you fucking NAILED love spreads
Driving south is John Squire best riff of all time
Nice video mate, what effects and Amp are you using?
dude got the pedal fx spot on too
great. when i listen it i also listen the bass line. so Stones Roses bass is too much great.
Love your Vintage Reissue offset...
Thanks me too.
Please cover Orange Juice riffs! Love your videos.
John Squire IS one of The Best Guitarist's Ever! From the Chilled Debut of Unique n Quality Guitar solos to the Led Zepp inspired Second Coming ie Love Spreads!! He's Just Sooooo Fuckin Good Man!!,
I wasn’t sure, but then I saw you’d capitalised ‘is’ and now Im convinced
Bravo
Fuckin' brilliant! Was waiting for this one for aaaages
That Vintage looks and sounds great (hate their name though, hard to search for) is it on par with the fenders?
