The rain water problem.
The initial video was a run off system with spaces on the ends of the covering slabs, the spaces allow water to flow in easily, but also leave space for your fingers to slip in and remove a covering slab. Japan has been using these for years. Unfortunately these also are the sewer system. They're called benjo ditches.

The high capacity drainage is kind of silly. The real reason why these cities flood is because they pave over everything.
If they left ample green space, water drainage wouldn't be such a huge problem. Plus you get the benefit that it looks nice and is healthy for you.

Uhhh, filling expansion joints with sand (6:52 in the video) is a really bad idea, they will become fixed joints - the sand settles and becomes solid, and they concrete slabs will crack.
This was done as a form of sabotage by a subcontractor on a swimming pool of someone I know.
The expansion joints locked up, doing enormous expensive damage to the coping of the pool.
Their script skipped the foam tube that was filling most of the expansion gap, the video showed only a relatively small amount of sand being put into the gap below the foam and sealant
Interesting fact, gabion fences are band from a lot of german neighborhoods.

Why would someone need/use those foam columns? I could not understand their utility 7:50
They would be useful in second level construction. For instance you want to pour a slab on top of an underground parking lot, that lot can only have so much weight put on top of it. Often the grade will be filled with huge styrofoam blocks, covered with plastic. Those forms would negate that process.
