Just ask the Blue line riders who have to wait 10 minutes between overcrowded trains because of the Silver Line. It sucks, ever since the Red Line disaster of 2009, they stopped automating trains, single tracking on weekends which leads to delays and the fact that unlike, New York, Baltimore, and Atlanta. Washington does not have dedicated funding which means fares as high as $6 during rush hour, unlike those other cities which have one flat fare.

+rockvilleraven The WMATA board didn't make that decision, the NTSB actually did

They should've put 7000 series on the first day of opening to match up the exact same silver color so that It will be even much more meaningful for having a new line opened.

One of the few cities with a decent public transport system in the US. The urban planning in American cities is a disgrace.

keaedz Went downhill after the 09 Red Line crash, trackwork almost every weekend, stopping for schedule adjustments almost every time I ride and rude station attendants. For what I pay to ride the Red Line weekly , I can buy a pass on the entire New York system for a month and have change left over. They need to fire Richard Sarles and Charles Stosell and clean house.

The first phase of the WMATA Silver Line has been completed. And now by the year of 2020 phase two of the WMATA Silver Line is going to open. But I apparently don't know what date, what month, or what day that the new stations are due to open up.

cornrowcity How about giving free rides to those who exit on the first day like some of the other lines that opened in the past? Or better yet cutting your ad budget on the Silver Lines and use to fix all kinds of problems on the system?

    • @r1k_b3k

That's good. I can see that they are using some of the 1000, 2000, 3000, 5000, and 6000 series railcars to run the new line. But if you look at 5:28, there is an original Breda 4000 series railcar at the end of the train. That railcar must have been used to run the Orange Line, but the Orange color designation sign has been removed from the cab window.
