- An exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the writing of the Mass of St. Mary Magdalene.
In this video, Sarah discusses being called upon to write a Mass setting - a situation that many liturgical musicians can surely relate to. She admits to feeling unsettled at first, working with lyrics not her own. But through prayer and patience, she overcomes her fear, creating a setting that will become a favorite among parishes for years to come.
This Mass setting can be found in the new Choose Christ Missal. Learn more!

What a beautiful voice and those arrangements are amazing...! Looking forward to have the chance of meeting you and share experiences.!!!
Thank you Sarah! What a beautiful presentation of the beautiful gift that the Lord has given to you - woman of faith!
So much humility I feel from you! Gift of God you are to us!
LOVE your music and arrangements. Please know you inspire our masses and create spaces of light and love for so many!
What a gift!
We just started using this Mass setting this past weekend. It's so pretty. I was the Cantor and was so happy to hear the congregation trying to sing the Gloria the first time hearing it. Thank you for sharing your talent with the Church!
I've just discovered this inspired composer and singer. Sarah's perception of music is very close to mine. Thank you for beautiful sounds!
Mary Magdalene is my patron saint and I have been praying for more “exposure” for me regarding her…thank you so much! 💙💙😍
It's WONDERFUL!
I introduced this setting to my body this morning, Sunday 6/12/22. It was well received, people began to sing it and my pastor likes it and thinks it's easy to sing. Amen! We've used your Alleluia every time it's been in Spirit & Psalm! I might add that I minister at St Mary Magdalen Church in Hazel Park, Michigan.
So Beautiful!
Thank you for sharing the process of writing a mass. That was truly amazing. May God Bless You.

Wow. Now I sorta wish I could hear your whole mass in Eb. The sound is so much more serious, seeking, self-aware of one's failings. But I get it: Eb---F---Eb. I'm now going to pray a lot more in Eb, I think.
I don't know if you're reading this, Sarah. But you said you don't feel comfortable setting music to lyrics other than your own. I don't know which came first--the "Spirit & Psalm" series or "Mass of St. Mary Magdalen." You composed some nice settings for responsorial psalms in the "Spirit & Psalm" series, one of my favorite resources for responsorial psalms..
Thanks!
Where can I purchase the string quartet parts heard on the recording please?
Please let us know where we may purchase the string parts arranged by your friend Dave Davidson. I would be most grateful. Many thanks!
Can I buy this setting in it's original key? My voice sits better in Eb as well!
Is Mary Magdalene, Mother Mary? Sorry, I'm a convert and still learning.
there are beautiful Gregorian Masses and there are plenty of them. Why not stick to regular praise and worship and not reinvent the wheel and try to replace something that is timeless?
Because that’s where the Holy Spirit was leading her. Who can quibble with the Spirit?
@@singcook1 Which Spirit? The chants are timeless and so beautiful and so very new.
