Fun facts
1. Dreamworks had no faith in Shrek at all and animators who didn't do what they're told or failed to deliver on project they were sent to work on Shrek as punishment. Little did Dream works know Shrek would become a box office success and huge hit. Animators in the end got the last laugh towards Dream Works bosses at the 74th Academy Awards Shrek won the first ever Academy Award for Best Animated Feature beating Monsters, Inc. and Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. It was also the first animated film to be nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay but lost to A Beautiful Mind.
2. Lord Farquaad's appearance was inspired by Michael Eisner the then-CEO of The Walt Disney Company because of producer Jeffrey Katzenberg's animosity toward his former employer and even his name Farquaad I'm not kidding say it many times it actually sounds like F wad.
3. In 1997 Chris Farley was originally the voice of Shrek there is footage of it but sadly Farley passed away and his friend Myers step in took over.
4. It is also regarded as one of the most influential animated films of the 2000s. The United States Library of Congress selected Shrek for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2020.
The punishment ended up being one of the most iconic animated movies In history

Fun fact: in the norwegian dub(which is what I grew up with), when Dragon strokes Donkey's ear he responds with "Det der er sextrakkasering!", which literally translates to "That is sexual harassment!" 😅

Shrek made so many 2000’s kids childhoods so much fun! Our favorite ogre going on fun adventures and delivering perfect comedy along with Eddie Murphy is one we’ll never forget.
And now, today's kids are gonna discover Shrek 5 thanks to their own Shrek, that being The Last Wish. We've truly come full circle, and that's just beautiful

I don't blame you, It's flying over my head when I was a young child when I watched the first film in my primary school in the UK until I got older year later. Plus, there's some fun fact about the humours and behind scenes. Still enjoyed it.😂

Saw Shrek in the theater not knowing what to expect and was blown away by the direct spoofing of all the Disney classics I watched growing up. The part where Fiona does the princess-singing-with-the-forest-animals trope but the bird explodes so she eats her babies made me almost fall out of my seat. 😆
Interesting fact: the Shrek franchise is the same age as the Harry Potter franchise…they both started in 2001!
I never fully appreciated the fact that Fiona spoke in Old English when she 1st saw Shrek, but she quickly dropped the act and behaved ,,normally" afterwards. Just a small detail, but it's just another testament to how comfortable Fiona feels with Shrek. He brought out her true self immediately.
Some fun facts from the movie:
The script was written by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. The same duo that wrote Aladdin and the Pirates of The Carribean movies.
Oroginally, the character was voiced by Chris Farley but he unexpectedly died due to an overdose. You can actually search snippets of his voice online.
Animators in Dreamworks who failed in other projects were sent to work on Shrek and they call it The Gulag lol
Since u haven't seen the movies in a while, i suggest you react to the sequels. The second one is comedic masterpiece and the rest were okayy...i guess. Overall, great reaction
Agree with the first one and the second. At least the second one has a pretty good and fun villain, while the third and fourth ones are missed opportunities.
I think 4 is a lot better than its reputation would suggest, it's nowhere near close to the same level as the first two films, but it's pretty decent on the whole. I do think 3 is honestly kind of bad though

I remember hearing somewhere that Smash Mouth wasn't even supposed to be the music in the movie but was used as filler in place of what they wanted to add. Then they showed it to like an early preview or something like that and people loved the smash mouth songs so they kept it. Anyone know what i'm talking about
Lord Forkward is based off of Prince Humperdinck. There is a theory that Donkey talks because he is one of the Donkeys from Pinocchio

This movie (And ALL of Dreamworks) only exists because Jeffery Katzenberg got passed over for the top job at Disney. Lord Farquaad is a caricature of Michael Eisner, the Disney executive who got the CEO job instead of Katzenberg.

The Last Wish is definitely on the same level I was actually pleasantly surprised when I saw that one because it was so unexpected.

I actually saw this movie for free on my birthday at a movie theater in 2001. Shrek 2 is my favorite of the series, the fourth one is not bad but i couldn't stand the third one.

The Latinamerican version of the shrek movies are regarded as the best ones. Even the crew who worked on the films says that these dubs are the best out there and there are innumerable memes based on this movie and from this movie just for the dub alone
