- The world of the future is before us. Project Link is an operation to build two machines known as Machine 1 and Machine 2. Their goal is to create a link to a planet that may have intelligent life on it. One of the machines has been traveling through space for over 60 years in search of intelligent life. For 20 of those years, the ship has been fully autonomous. Once the machine is on the chosen planet, communication will be established, and today is communication day.

How do we know he's speaking english? He might just be speaking his own language and they're translating it to english because no one wants to make an entirely new language for an indie film.
I found the movie online, and it was really quite enjoyable. It was much better than I suspected it would be. It's a lower-budget British flick, but it is damned wonderful. Very delightful.

This seems like a good story and reminds me of the old sci-fi pulp era. I could see this story on the front page of Galaxy Magazine.

Screamers told a somewhat similar story but without the time travel and more violence. One of Peter Weller's best movies if folks would look beyond RoboCop.

You'd think he would try to phone home when machine 2 is within sight, so it can relay the communication home. Instead, he just tries it the next morning, apparently not caring where it is.
miraculously he finally gets a response from 'Earth' while he's in an underground bunker. LOL.

If Machine 2 appeared and wasn't attacking, Earth would send up astronauts to check it out. I'm not seeing WWIII breaking out between Earth nations because if they thought there was an external threat, they would be working together to combat it.

It'd happening right now in front of your own eyes. Ww3 is among us. Government is using aliens as a pretext to fund space force (declassified files , military officials speeches and testimonies) real life is a lot more morbid than Sci fi

It is a Lowbudget flix of when terminators had taken over and killing all humans on earth.
However.
The guy shouldnt be that down, he now has a complete world for himself to explore.
Hell i wouldnt mind.

It's not that he was able to speak English and not read it, but from his view he's speaking his native language and we understand him because it's from his point of view. We wouldn't understand him speaking another language. Say if I spoke a language called ginjang, we know there isn't a language on earth as the ginjang language.
Or he is indeed speaking a language that sounds exactly like English, but they used a different writing system.

From his view it's his language, but in our view it's English. It's like our languages and how they are similar examples would be German the word for father is vater pronounced it sounds like father (ˈfäT͟Hər), so it could be similar.
But then we have to assume the human race isn't just on Earth and then you have to shut off your brain to enjoy the movie.
Which today this is how most to all movies are you have to shut off the brain to enjoy it, I know I have this problem quite often, especially when it comes to religion or space, physics and so on...

I like to theorycraft insignificant things from time to time. Maybe it's just two independent species that convergent evolution into two outwardly similar looking bipedal creatures that coincidently developed similar sounding language, but but took very different paths to get there and a completely different writing system.
@@MrBennywan actually can go any way with it, in sure it's up you, I've written stories myself and don't really want to tell every aspect of a situation or the plot. It's left up to interpretation. IMHO similar looking bipedal creatures don't exist.
We can look at this with Darwin's theory of evolution. In that aspect then every creature would resemble the next and we don't see this. An example would be fish jumps out the water becomes a bird after it grows lungs instead of gills and wings instead of fins. Then we came from apes, which is just ignorant IMHO. If this is the case then how come evolution stopped?
I just look at it as it's his language viewed through him. You do honestly have to shut off that thinker if you want to even try to enjoy a movie today, this is a great example of this....
Except that if you watch the whole story, it turns out that the man has landed on a future Earth, and in the end he's able to read the posters and newspaper clippings just fine, so there's no plausible reason why he'd be unable to read a label on a bottle of Jack Daniels.

Yes, a very good movie -- if you go into it without a bar set by Star Wars standards. For me, I really, really enjoyed it.
This is like a kids show I saw, even with the giant AA guns, but in that they flew home from memory.

Wrong!! It's the single worst movie I have ever seen!! Free CZcams no budget movies are blockbusters compared to this pile of waisted film.. the acting by the 1 actor is worse than a homemade porno. It's insulting to humanity calling it a good movie.

Imagine if the moviemakers had put on some alien makeup on James for the last minutes of the movie and made him speaking gibberish with English subtitles.
That'll put some twist on the whole story.
Kinda reminds me of Planet of the Apes, or maybe even more so 1960's The Time Machine.

There is a story by Stanislav Lem where an austronaught lands on a distand planets and meets humanoid aliens. He uses a universal translator to understand thier strange laguage only to realize he landed in New Jewrsy due to a navigational error and this is just how they look and sound.

I like movies where someone takes off from earth-(like out in space,i.e. the space-time continuum), at a certain time, and comes back to earth, like, many hundreds, or thousands of years in the future.---(Incredible to see the difference, as to how the planet has undergone change, as to perhaps a vast wasteland, with all, (or almost all) of humanity utterly gone). !!!!!
A one-manned mission. An incompetent pilot is chosen to carry out the mission. I like how lands on the planet, takes a few steps and glances and immediately assumes the whole planet is deserted of intelligent life 😭 See's one bunker on the entire planet. "all humans dead"

Some of these small budget films always seem like they would have been better served as a pitch to a new Twilight Zone or Outer Limits series. Cut 30 minutes off the run time, get a larger budget.

And orbit was unstable due to machine 2 was already on unstable orbit. For 5 years.
And if we look agin we can see that Machine 2 has explosions marks on it. Persumable from natives trying to destroy it.
