For the tools, why not see if there are any local schools that could use them? Or even if there are kids who are in wood shop classes to get them started, they might want them. Great video!
I second this 👍 great idea
Yeah and even if its broken, handy guy can easily fix some issues like damaged frame. Hell even if some of the tools are not same as mine, that is not a issue long as voltage is the same. You can get cheap tool, get couple dollar adapter or even make it your self and use your battery brand of choice for those tools. None of it is waste really just lack of ingenuity and effort. Still i prefer corded tools when working with ones that are least used like garden and yard stuff. Corded almost never dies from lack of use, while batteries will die from it and always degrade over time.
This is my vote, too. Many schools don't have an annual budget for tools.
@@LanceMcCarthyI third that. When I was in High School; even 15 years ago we had to build sheds to sell for the funds to keep our Vocational Construction class going. Over the years, school budgets have only ever gotten worse.
I teach Construction Tech at a CTE campus in Texas. We have a brand new program and we still.don't have enough tools for each student to work at the same time. I can fill out donation forms for anything that gets given to us.
That Ryobi mattress inflator is one of the most used tools in my shop. I use it to blow off dust and shavings off everything. It's way quicker than a bench brush and way more convenient than using an air compressor.
Praying over you and your shop and everyone else around you!
@@alissacrizler4908 nah I'm good
That's how I have used mine for the past 5? years. Shh don't write keep writing about that because someday Ryobi might find out and actually advertise it.
And the plus side is you can use it to blow up the doll you and your boyfriend use on the weekend.

I work at Lowe’s so we get some real doozies of returns. A lot of the cashiers are not taught to check product (I assume to avoid confrontation with aggressive customers). Once we got a 5 gallon bucket of paint, that was actually just water, tools kits returned with no batteries or chargers and a whole lot of buy one get one, where the buy one was returned. One time after a pretty bad rain we sold like 25 shop vacs and got like 10 returned I assumed after being used thoroughly.
Menards is the same way. And we just throw tools in the garbage. Like hammers
Thanks for the tips! 👍
I work at home Depot and usually I'll check after the customer leaves and make sure to send it to the back so it doesn't get sold. A lot of customers either lie, become aggressive or ask for the manger and usually the manger will just say to do the return.

It's not like that at Lowe's, "in my experience anyway."
My daughter bought me a big Craftsman shop vac for Father's day & I didn't even take it out of the box until around a month later. I vacuumed my car's out & noticed it was smelling funny but just thought it was probably just packing oil or something like that. So the second time I used it "probably around another month" the motor started smoking and it died. So I carried it back to Lowe's not wanting to return it for money, I just wanted to exchange it for another vacuum. I explained everything to the sales clerk and she said it's been longer than 30 days so I would have to call Craftsman. The next day I called & they just transferred me from department to department. After about 30 minutes of that I got frustrated & decided to call back the next day just to get the exact same run around. I tried several times but got nowhere with Craftsman.
So for me never again will I ever buy or recommend Craftsman or Lowes to anyone.
So just curious, to those of you who work at a hardware store: Have you read the terms of the return policy? And if you did inspect an item that was heavily used or incomplete is that grounds to refuse a return? And lastly, if the corporation doesn’t care… Why do you?
Every episode gives me another reason to be baffled by the fact that John still has all of his appendages.
"Appendage Watch"
You just have to be careful of what you drop into the blender is all.
what, doesn't every throw a knife around :)
He's more of a danger to the people AROUND him than he is to himself. What an absolute TOOL of a person. pun intended.
Well said! 😂
School wood shops or drama departments would love those tools! Also, community theater groups might want some too. My son is in high school theater and they are always looking for extra drills, drivers, saws, and bits. That would be a wonderful gesture by you! Nice video!
Since being injured and being declared disabled 6 years ago I've been doing absolutely nothing. I've been watching these videos....I think I'll clean out space in the garage and hit up yard sales for tools to start woodworking. Hopefully by spring I'll be making stuff! Being a former chef I wanna make my own custom cutting board!
This is awesome James, please share when you do !
I just went down a rabbit hole and watched a guy make table lamps using epoxy and LEDs and I thought of something epic because I've binge watched so many of your videos over the last month. Imagine a cave table filled with blue epoxy to look like water and a light fitted underneath it so it looks like an underwater cave? 🤯 You could even add little details to like seaweed or algae it would literally be the most epic thing ever. You are the one who could pull this off John I believe in you sir. I really love the channel by the way you guys bring personality to the videos and make them fun which is so awesome as opposed to hearing someone talking over a time lapse which can be boring at times.
The guy who invented the Black and Decker Workmate lived local to me and he was a very rich man. He negotiated a small royalty for each Workmate sold and they sold a lot. Also in the ‘80s DeWalt bought Swiss power tool company Elu. Their colour was charcoal grey with orange highlights like switches, these also became B&D professional, colour, all black and DeWalt. I still have a 20 year old 1/2 inch DeWalt router that is an Elu, still working great.
The ryobi inflator for the air mattress is a great little tool.
I use it to blow off work surfaces in my shop instead of firing up the air compressor.
Love your videos. Watching them has made me get back into woodworking. Thank you
I don't understand why people hate on Ryobi so much. My stepdad still has the cordless Ryobi tools from when they came out in the 90's, they still work and they have taken a beating. He used to be a carpenter. I have several Ryobi tools. My drill has been dropped from 8ft+ several times. I drop f bombs like crazy when it happens but the drill still works like brand new. My wife and I have a house that was built in 1881 and it constantly needs work. Ryobi is my go to because of it's affordable price and Ryobi is extremely reliable.
And everyone is going crazy for Milwaukee which is made by the same people and essentially just a slightly fancier and more powerful version of the ryobi stuff most of the time.
My husband worked 12 years at Walmart. His favorite "return" story: A 12 year old Weber grill brought back with hot dogs still rolling around inside it - and they gave the customer money back! 😳
A 12 year old Weber? That means the top handle has long since burned off, and the remaining metal hoop busted/rusted off too, as well as both side handles. Ash receptacle? Wheels? A distant memory. Gutsy return. Shameless. Nice touch with the hot dogs, though.
Hey John. I look forward to your show each week. From the builds to the boxes and all the shenanigans in between. If you haven’t found a home for some of that dewalt stuff I will gladly pay for it. I am only 2.5hrs from Pittsburgh area. Keep up the fun and entertainment.
Praying over you!
I could use the 10 Amp batteries. Pallet videos are fun to watch when it's not hole saws.
Dewalt is owned by Stanley Black and Decker. Ryobi is usually great for the price point. They're owned by TTI, who owns Millwaukee. TTI also manufactures Rigid. There’s a ton of rebranding type stuff and tech sharing going on with those brands and you can totally get a great tool for cheap.
No tradesmen uses ryobi . They’re underpowered and garbage ,sure they’re made in the same factory as Milwaukee . But they have rhinos in the same zoo as flamingos . So what’s your point ? Being in the same factory doesn’t mean “ sometime ryobi will get Milwakee parts “ because we’ve already torn them down and proven they don’t . So again . What’s your point ? lol
@@tylerdurden7869 I know quite a few tradesmen that use ryobi, and rigid and the like lol.
I know plenty of tradesmen that use Rigid, including myself in the past. Ryobi, not so much. Ryobi doesnt make bad stuff, just not things rated for heavy field use. Their stuff tends to break on any real heavy use.
@@XanderfiedI’ve never known anyone to use Rigid, one of the guys uses ryobi because he doesn’t want to spend $200 on an impact driver… but is fine with spending $80 every week on a new one lol
@@Fetidaf Rigid isnt that bad really. Much better than Ryobi.
You know finding a good Home Depot pallet is hard when you have to join forces with your Doppelganger to track them down. Also.... That compact DeWALT chainsaw is nice. It's on my short list of near future tool purchases. I like the fact that it works with that company's 20volt battery system.
And, especially the fact that it has an actual chain-brake. Unlike certain other compact chainsaws from certain other companies. (Seriously, how do you NOT include a basic safety feature that modern-day arborists and professional loggers rely on while doing their jobs.)
I just discovered your channel tonight and subscribed after the first episode. I am a fairly new woodworker, having graduated from San Diego State University at the age of 58 in May 2022! I am setting up a small shop in my 2 car garage and am checking out tools I need at home. I've never heard about palette auctions so I'm going to check them out. Your show is top-notch and very well done!
Praying over you!❤
That “Yeeaaah, you’re different”
Brilliant!!
The boxes filled with mutiple of the same labeled not in system, are frim what the industry calls, "a reset".
That's when they go through an aisle or two or even an entire store , move everything around, and pull the items which are no longer stocked. It could be different packaging, or just a complete deletion of the item from the stores selection.
Also, manufacturers pay for better shelf space, so depending on new contracts stuff will move because of that.
In supermarkets they'll move stuff an aisle or two so you need to search, therefore making you look at more product, and seeing more things you, "need".
I teach woodworking at a high school for students with dyslexia and other learning differences. If you don’t need those black and decker benches, I could definitely use them! I have 6 students at a time in a 20x20 shop and often they benefit from flexibility and set up workstations in different spaces and those workmate benches are great for that.
We’re in Maryland and would love to have you come by and see our wood shop and metal shop!
These pallet videos are a bunch of fun to watch. 👍
loved the "yeah you're different" when holding his hand near a working chainsaw :D crazy guy
I love the workmates. I have 3 of them. Very handy for tiny garage setup. I even keep one on back deck for BBQ/work uses. Grandfather used ryobi for quick garage/house stuff. Lots of tool options for them I’ve found. Great score on the dewalt stuff. Love to have the workmates. Give away to fans!
Yes, I was stunned at his quick dismissal of them, too. Maybe cause they're popular with the weekend warriors who use them as a prop, even they don't know how to unfold them. They kick ass in countless ways, I've actually worn one out, agree wholeheartedly!
I’ve got a Black & Decker Workmate that is more than 40 years old. Still works well!
Years ago Black & Decker used to have a line of professional grade power tools but they were discontinued a long time ago and since then has been recognized as a cheap, low-end power tool.
I have a couple of those b&d benches. I use them when I’m working on site , if i need to do my hinge mortises or handle, they hold doors perfectly.
I have that mulcher, it is also a blower. Actually has worked pretty well for the last 10 years
I work for a big box home improvement store so I watch for the tool deals. Corporate does some wild stuff with pricing, they'll clearance a bunch of stuff down to ridiculous prices for like a day then shoot them back up to regular price. I grab em when they're low and resell them. I got 6 Dewalt hammer drill impact driver sets with a regular and max battery just like the one you got for $79 each. I resold all but one for $150 each, all went in 2 days. Chaching!
I got the deep cut cordless Dewalt bandsaw once for free. They had a deal where you bought a two pack of batteries. Pick your free tool. Had that at the bottom of the list online. They had the band saw in a clearance isle in the store. The worker who showed me where it was didn't even think the deal would work. I should have bought both of them.
Good job guys.
Love Mr Cool. we redid a 400 sqft garage into a bedroom and it is so good! it keeps it cool without a whole lot of energy. Hot and cold. I love it!
that one that said "not found in system" is actually really common all over retail, companies receive product from the same companies and errors happen resulting in say Lowes receiving some Home Depot products. So it doesn't pop up when they scan it and it ends up being sent back with returns often.
I appreciate these videos to see what’s crap and what’s actually decent. I am getting into woodworking as a hobbyist, so I’m not buying the most high-end tools out there. Thanks!
They way you are talking teh Ryobi bran down, I counld agree more, but they did get me started. I bought the Ryobi workbench you have there and it was the worst thing I every bought. I ended up takeing it apart and used the vice/clamp mechanics onto my bench and it worked well as a bench vice and the dogs helped with holding stock on the table. I really love it as an add on the a workbench. Maybe a video to take apart the vice/clamp and adding it to a workbench. If you want, I can send you a pis.Quite and easy retrofit.
The 40 piece sets say 'not found in system' in marker on the box. Having worked on retail, probably means it was a promo sku for a holiday sale, then after the sale, even if they carry essentially the same set, they can't sell, as the promo sku got deleted from the system. So they probably just lumped it in with the returns
great video love all your videos john keep up the great stuff I'm in the process of building a epoxy river table thanks to you guys lol wish me luck I'm a huge Ryobi fan they work great for everything i do but i would love that dewalt roofing gun just did a side job i had to rent one from homedepot what a life saver well thanks again brother for the video
I got one of those ryobi trimmers for a gift a few years back and its surprisingly reliable, and light.
Love your channel everything you guys do is entertaining and sometimes educational. I have the ability to pretty much repair and restore anything so instead of throwing away all the broken and damaged goods, I would gladly take them and repair them. Including batteries and chargers.
Always love the pallet videos! Really appreciate the production that goes into these.
Praying over you!
@@alissacrizler4908Thank you, Alissa. I never thought of that!
I had the B&D blower/vacuum only thing I didn't like was that I had to use a few power cords to reach certain parts of my yard....
Consider different outreach or service groups to donate the tools to. Groups that help rebuild after natural disasters (think small organizations that don’t have a lot of press coverage). One group we have given tool sets to before is a church in Gallaway, Tennessee. Their outreach to the community is to host a “Christmas store” where people of all ages can come in and “buy*” items for their families. (*no actual money is exchanged, this is the church trying to help people lift themselves from poverty.) It’s amazing to see how these opportunities can bring joy in difficult situations. The feedback we have been given from the donated tool sets has always been encouraging. Just an idea.
The Ryobi tools are pretty good, depending on how much of a workhorse you need.
Praying over you!
I have one of those Workmate 125s due to living in an apartment - nice that I can pull it out, open it up, and do some work on my balcony, then fold it up and stick it back in the storage closet, since I don't have space inside.
On another note, I wonder if some of these unopened/unused returns might be due to HD sending unsold clearance items off to liquidators, rather than just being all actual customer returns.
Those Ryobi blowers work super well to clean stuff off too. Use it all the time
That combo pack, really want to get into woodworking but the stuff is so expensive where i live 😅
The editor needs a fat bonus for all the work he’s put into this video 😂
My idea for the tools, give them out to the homeless.
Love the pallet videos!!! Always finding treasures
Not every HD "return" is returned by a customer. Used to work their return desk. We also processed sending incorrect items back to vendors, a bunch of that stuff looked like mislabeled things that nobody opened to inspect and just RTV'ed
I love watching your video as an aspiring craftsman. Watching your tips and tricks helps me level up thank you
Ps you can send me those work tables that you don't like 😅
Hey I’m 20 and I’m moving into a house built in the 20s bought out of a sears catolog and I’m in the need for tools any and all!!!!
I like that idea of a pull out drawer system in that dewalt tough packout, wish more companys would make a similar one (would like one for my Bauer Packout)
Milwaukee technically does, but theirs doesn't have the water resistance levels DeWalt's do.
I've had my Ryobi grinder for 5 years now thing is really nice
Two batteries and the charger in the bag are a starter kit. They sell as a promo and you get a free tool when you buy.
Love your videos. What You got with this box a few tools I've been needing to get. Keep it up. Y'all are hilarious
I have one of those ridgid USB belt clip power things. Awesome for camping or something like that!
I love these pallet videos
That pallet is like a woodworkers Christmas. i would love to do this on my channel someday. great video John and crew.
I have the xr 20v max impact driver from the combo kit from my momma she bought it for the drill because it was cheaper with the charger and battery so she didn't need the impact driver so she gave me that one works great..
I love those workbenches. so handy.
I'd be happy to take one of those Workmates off your hands. I'm just getting started in woodworking (well, generating sawdust to be honest) and I have a tiny apartment. A folding workbench would make life a lot easier. Look forward to the videos every Sunday. Thanks!
You could donate that to my construction class. I just took over the program as the school was ready to close it down and am trying to rebuild the program. We need all the help we can get.
Love the Ridgid stuff. Great service plan on them.
Whoever does the audio sets the music volume at an ideal level relative to the vocals. Also the memes NEVER miss.
The electric chain saw is so much more useful than you will ever give it credit for. If you just need to cut up a fallen limb in the yard there is no better tool. They are also awesome if you are up on a lift for a short trim session.
Those work benches are alright if you're working in a house. I'd never use one in a workshop where you could just have a normal bench but they're good if you've got limited space and need to be mobile
Wow, now that was a lot of value. Especially compared to the others you have bought in the past.
Do you know what would be great for installing that Mr Cool stuff? A bunch of Milwaukee Hole Saws!!!! ❤
Still little profit margin left, no one in their right mind should pay full retail if you choose to sell it. But love to see stuff like this with the honesty of not getting even in the past pallets.
I could make use of a tool kit!
I’d love to see if you can get your hands on returns from super premium tools like festool and Hilti. Probably would be tougher to source but I suspect there are a lot of speciality tools whom get returned after 1 job.
Was watching this series yesterday wanting another one
That Stanley workbox at 4:31
"Maybe good as a first workbox"... i got that exact box... as my first workbox :D
I yearn for something better, but it is nice, especially for the price.
I'm always so excited when you post a new video.
the small hole in the chainsaw bar is for grease to be put in the bar tip bearing not where oil comes out. if oil is coming out the oil feed is to high.
My father LOVES his Black and Decker bench. He's had it since the 90's and when that comes out, he means business! Every time I see one I think of how excited he gets when he uses it.
They're really handy if you don't have space and/or money for a 5,000 square foot woodworking shop filled with equipment that cost more than my house. I love mine!
@@southstreetbarbecue7875 I grew up in a small row home so everything had to be compact and stowable. It was a great way to grow up because my little shop is my one car garage with a motorcycle and a dirt bike parked in it. I've got ten pounds of shit in my little five pound bag, lol!
@@shadyvito That's exactly my situation. I have a two car garage but one side has an 88 F250 I'm restoring so it's full. The other side has the motor for the truck, as well as leaf blowers, lawn mowers, string trimmers, and other small engine equipment I repair as a hobby. I also make make homemade smokers and other silly things, so I don't have any space! I really need to get myself under control, or at least finish a project. lol
@@southstreetbarbecue7875 Nice! In my little shop I make custom printed Kydex sheaths for throwing axes and custom fishing lures. When I switch from one to the other I have to put away a bunch of tools to make room for other tools. I don't have folding benches like my pops so I use TV trays I got at a yard sale.
@@shadyvito I used to have a barbecue trailer and we bought a ton of those six-foot folding tables for catering jobs. Most of the time I've got tools and parts laid out on the tables outside, and I use the Workmates to actually hold whatever I"m working on. TV trays sound like a great idea! I'd love to see some of those fishing lures though. I don't fish much at all any more but I always loved checking out the tackle in bait shops.
At this point he's get enough tools to open a tool store
If all you want to buy are hole saws and wrenches
The first tool Ryobi grinder is the brushed model which is cheaper than the one you found online that one is the brushless model which is more expensive
I will say, while I'm not sure how it would actually work, a leaf blower that you could just attach a bag of mulch to blow it out does sound nice.
4:30 ryobi honestly has some cool storage kits/organizers. And it's 1/3 the price of other name brands. I understand the dislike but for occasional things it's not bad. Certain tools I'll spend more but for things I don't use often ryobi is just fine.
Love the pallet buys not sure what I would do with everything though
How do you bid on one of these pallets
ive found the workmates make good benchtop tool stands i use them for my miter saw and drill press
You did GOOD this Time !!!!!🥳😁😁😁
Where did you buy the pallet?
Game Show Sunday is always so much fun. Seriously!
A lot of times around the holidays they run promos where it’s like if you buy this you get a free tool but…many people already have the tools they are giving away…i have had great success returning those tools without a receipt could be why you see a lot of tool only returns
I will still never get over the cost of shipping pallets. And I used to be as shipping and receiving manager who shipped pallets 😂
Sell your shirts or whatever at cost on Black Friday. Throw in items at random just because . Or donate to a trade school / small local business.
Where do you find these HD pallets? I'm curious now
I do enjoy the pallet videos.
I think you should do another Harbor freight pallet to see.
Also I’ve heard really good things about thier Hercules line, maybe go pick up the 6 or 9 most common of that line and do a “put Hercules by Harbor Frieght to the test” video
You should see if there are any murdocks or similar stores. They sell some good tools so might get some interesting returns
Just coming across this and can't help but think - how much do these pallets weigh and who are you getting to ship them?
2:40, I know a 12v input when I see one
Wow, what a haul! Even if it were all Ryobi that would have been good.
Give it to or start a free tool Library. Edmonton, AB Canada has one
I found your channel when I worked for a fabric store . . . Now I work for Lowe’s. This feels way more entertaining working for a hardware store. 😅
Fun video. I agree with tools and local schools - but for some of the home items like the leaf blowers... maybe like a Habitat for Humanity or other local shelters could use it for people getting into their first homes?
I doubt you'll ever get a nice pallet like the first one. The auction places have contract with the vendors that first aquire the product. Then the reach out to the places sell by the pallet or by item. At least that's what I've been told from I few places where I live (IN).
I want the hole dewalt kit if possible
Even if you break even on the value, none of it is under warranty. You’re better off paying retail with a warranty. Plus if you’re reselling, there’s always seller fees and shipping depending on the selling platform, so it’s not worth it unless you can double your money from what you paid in total.
