Yeah and even if its broken, handy guy can easily fix some issues like damaged frame. Hell even if some of the tools are not same as mine, that is not a issue long as voltage is the same. You can get cheap tool, get couple dollar adapter or even make it your self and use your battery brand of choice for those tools. None of it is waste really just lack of ingenuity and effort. Still i prefer corded tools when working with ones that are least used like garden and yard stuff. Corded almost never dies from lack of use, while batteries will die from it and always degrade over time.

I work at Lowe’s so we get some real doozies of returns. A lot of the cashiers are not taught to check product (I assume to avoid confrontation with aggressive customers). Once we got a 5 gallon bucket of paint, that was actually just water, tools kits returned with no batteries or chargers and a whole lot of buy one get one, where the buy one was returned. One time after a pretty bad rain we sold like 25 shop vacs and got like 10 returned I assumed after being used thoroughly.

It's not like that at Lowe's, "in my experience anyway."
My daughter bought me a big Craftsman shop vac for Father's day & I didn't even take it out of the box until around a month later. I vacuumed my car's out & noticed it was smelling funny but just thought it was probably just packing oil or something like that. So the second time I used it "probably around another month" the motor started smoking and it died. So I carried it back to Lowe's not wanting to return it for money, I just wanted to exchange it for another vacuum. I explained everything to the sales clerk and she said it's been longer than 30 days so I would have to call Craftsman. The next day I called & they just transferred me from department to department. After about 30 minutes of that I got frustrated & decided to call back the next day just to get the exact same run around. I tried several times but got nowhere with Craftsman.
So for me never again will I ever buy or recommend Craftsman or Lowes to anyone.

The guy who invented the Black and Decker Workmate lived local to me and he was a very rich man. He negotiated a small royalty for each Workmate sold and they sold a lot. Also in the ‘80s DeWalt bought Swiss power tool company Elu. Their colour was charcoal grey with orange highlights like switches, these also became B&D professional, colour, all black and DeWalt. I still have a 20 year old 1/2 inch DeWalt router that is an Elu, still working great.

He used to be a carpenter. I have several Ryobi tools. My drill has been dropped from 8ft+ several times. I drop f bombs like crazy when it happens but the drill still works like brand new. And, especially the fact that it has an actual chain-brake. Unlike certain other compact chainsaws from certain other companies. (Seriously, how do you NOT include a basic safety feature that modern-day arborists and professional loggers rely on while doing their jobs.)

The boxes filled with mutiple of the same labeled not in system, are frim what the industry calls, "a reset".
That's when they go through an aisle or two or even an entire store , move everything around, and pull the items which are no longer stocked. It could be different packaging, or just a complete deletion of the item from the stores selection.
Also, manufacturers pay for better shelf space, so depending on new contracts stuff will move because of that.
In supermarkets they'll move stuff an aisle or two so you need to search, therefore making you look at more product, and seeing more things you, "need".

Consider different outreach or service groups to donate the tools to. Groups that help rebuild after natural disasters (think small organizations that don’t have a lot of press coverage). One group we have given tool sets to before is a church in Gallaway, Tennessee. Their outreach to the community is to host a “Christmas store” where people of all ages can come in and “buy*” items for their families. (*no actual money is exchanged, this is the church trying to help people lift themselves from poverty.) It’s amazing to see how these opportunities can bring joy in difficult situations. The feedback we have been given from the donated tool sets has always been encouraging. Just an idea.

The electric chain saw is so much more useful than you will ever give it credit for. If you just need to cut up a fallen limb in the yard there is no better tool. They are also awesome if you are up on a lift for a short trim session.

@@shadyvito I used to have a barbecue trailer and we bought a ton of those six-foot folding tables for catering jobs. Most of the time I've got tools and parts laid out on the tables outside, and I use the Workmates to actually hold whatever I"m working on. TV trays sound like a great idea! 4:30 ryobi honestly has some cool storage kits/organizers. And it's 1/3 the price of other name brands. I understand the dislike but for occasional things it's not bad. Certain tools I'll spend more but for things I don't use often ryobi is just fine.

I doubt you'll ever get a nice pallet like the first one. The auction places have contract with the vendors that first aquire the product. Then the reach out to the places sell by the pallet or by item. At least that's what I've been told from I few places where I live (IN).

Even if you break even on the value, none of it is under warranty. You’re better off paying retail with a warranty. Plus if you’re reselling, there’s always seller fees and shipping depending on the selling platform, so it’s not worth it unless you can double your money from what you paid in total.
