    Written recipe Dal Makhani
    Prep time: 15-20 minutes (excluding soaking time)
    Cooking time: 1.5 hrs
    Serves: 4-5 people
    Ingredients:
    Boiled dal
    WHOLE URAD DAL | साबुत उरद दाल 1 CUP
    RAJMA | राजमा 1/4 CUP
    CHANA DAL | चना दाल 2 TBSP
    WATER | पानी AS REQUIRED
    GARLIC | लहसुन 5 CLOVES
    WATER | पानी 1 INCH ABOVE THE DAL
    SALT | नमक 1 TSP
    KASHMIRI RED CHILLI POWDER | कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च पाउडर 1 TSP
    Tempering & final cooking
    BUTTER | मक्खन 3 TBSP
    OIL | तेल 1 TSP
    GINGER GARLIC PASTE | अदरक लहसुन की पेस्ट 2 TBSP
    KASHMIRI RED CHILLI POWDER | कश्मीरी लाल मिर्च पाउडर 2 TBSP
    GARAM MASALA | गरम मसाला 1/4 TSP
    TOMATO PUREE | टमाटर की प्यूरी OF 5 TOMATOES
    SALT A PINCH | नमक A PINCH
    HOT WATER AS REQUIRED | गरम पानी AS REQUIRED
    FRESH CREAM | फ्रेश क्रीम 4-5 TBSP
    ROASTED KASURI METHI POWDER | भुनी हुई कसूरी मेथी का पाउडर A LARGE PINCH
    GARAM MASALA A LARGE PINCH | गरम मसाला A LARGE PINCH
    BUTTER | मक्खन 2-3 TBSP
    SALT | नमक IF REQUIRED
    Method:
    Add all the three dal into a large bowl, add water & wash them by rubbing them in between your palms 3-4 times until the water added turns clear, then let the dal soak for 10-12 hours.
    Once soaked wash the dal again similarly until the added water turns clear, discard that water & add the dal into the cooker.
    Add garlic, water, salt & kashmiri red chilli powder & pressure cook the dal over high flame for 4 whistles, then switch off the flame & let the cooker depressurize naturally.
    Further mash the dal lightly using a potato masher, don’t mash it too much to make a paste, just mash until the rajma disappears then transfer it into a bowl & set it aside until you make the tempering.
    Set the same pressure cooker or a stock pot on high flame & add butter along with the oil & let the butter melt.
    Further add ginger garlic paste, stir & cook over medium flame for 2 minutes.
    Lower the flame & add kashmiri red chilli powder & garam masala, stir well & then add the tomato puree & salt, stir well & cook over high flame until the oil separates & the tomato puree tunrs crumbly.
    Then add the cooked dal, mix well with the tempering & add hot water as required, the dal should become slightly thin so that it gets time to cook while you let it simmer further, cook the dal for at least 25 minutes until it thickens.
    Once the dal has thickened after simmering for 25 minutes add fresh cream, roasted kasuri methi powder, garam masala & butter, stir well then taste for salt & adjust accordingly.
    Your delicious dal makhani is ready, serve it along with some laccha parathas & rice.

    Thank you for demystifying the art of cooking with your invaluable tips, tricks, and super beginner-friendly recipes. 💫
    True story : During Covid-due to the unexpected lockdown- my mom was stranded in Kerala for almost 3 months. Hence,what was supposed to be a case of :managing the house of grandparents and dad + brothers for 1 day- became 3 months...
    I was utterly clueless about cooking and turned to CZcams in search of a beginner-friendly veg curry recipe. Lo and behold, I stumbled upon YFL's Bhindi Masala Recipe, and by diligently following your video instructions on washing, cutting bhindi, measuring ingredients, and more, it turned out to be a smashing success! 😊👩‍🍳
    Got great compliments from my family. Since then- over the course of lockdown-I’ve tried multiple recipes -- from delectable sweets and mouthwatering curries to irresistible snacks from YFL, which have turned out really well!
    My mom and I have explored various YFL rice recipes, including pulao, biryani, veg fried rice, and szechuan fried rice, using our trusty ancient cooker, which has served us for over 20 years and holds great sentimental value. While the taste is on point, achieving that perfect rice texture, the 'khila-khila sa rehna' you demonstrate, remains a bit of a challenge in our old cooker.

    Hi Chef, I've been following your channel for years, and your recipes have allowed me to not only to start cooking during covid, but has allowed me to try new recipes . Your butter chicken, spinach rice with creamy veggies and paneer recipes are my go-to favorites wherever I need to impress my friends and family.
    Because being a teenager i love how easy,detailed and simply delicious your recipes turn out.I'd love to prepare those in the new Milton cookware.If I get this Milton ProCook's Granito Frypan then I will first cook paneer lababdar(by your recipe).

    Wow now i know why my dal makhni didnt taste as well as a proper dal makhni! There was no onion in this!! I would love to make this for my family and see their happy faces!! The best part about YFL is that you tell the industry secrets of great cooking which many other chefs forget to mention (maybe they think we already do, but we dont! :D) One of my favourite things i learned from YFL was how long to cook rice before draining it for the purpose of Biryani. And since then I have always been asked how my rice is so fluffy and well seasoned every time!! Hehe thanks for telling us the secrets. Appreciate it so much...
    Now If I get this Milton ProCook’s Granito Frypan then I will first cook this Dal Makhni only for my family! And then some Biryani (your chicken biryani recipe is honestly foolproof and i follow it whenever i make biriyani at home) and then some baingan ka bharta for litti chokhas!!!

We have cooked several dishes according to your recipes, like Soya Kheema, Amritsari Chole, Egg Tawa masala, etc and they all turned out to be very delicious🤤😋. I'm quite happy to have discovered your channel back then, as I have learnt several authentic recipes, not only Maharashtrian, but also delicacies of several Indian states, just as I learnt this simple Dal Makhni recipe today. First thing I am going to cook is Gulab Jamun by your recipe as my mom was fond of cooking gulab jamuns ..after every two or three days she used to cook gulab jamuns for my daughter and in 2021 I lost her dilute to covid but after her demise I found peace in cooking her favs and your recipe, the way you tell every detail about cooking is like a mother is teaching you from the scrap ….thanks for gulab jamuns recipe and for every recipe ❤

    Thank you for the recipe! I loved your explanations about what gives the dal it’s colour and texture. I love cooking and find the food science behind it super interesting!!

    I want to tell that you are a very respectable figure for me bcoz I learnt a lot from u and still learning
    I want to tell that six years ago bcoz of some reasons i was completely forbidden to eat anything from outside, so i literally lost dosa in my life.... As mu mother doesn't know how to make perfect dosas, and i was a young girl not knowing anything about cooking so i couldn't eat dosa for six years , but few months ago when i joined ur channel seeing the way u explain everything,,,, i made masala dosa and it was amazing in first go..... And then continued in this journey by watching ur recipes..... By becoming good at chola bhatura, rawa dosa and others
    So if I can get the Milton pro cook pans then i will continue in the same journey and the most important use to me is roasting my raw spices,,, for which i need pan and after wards i can cook daal makhni and maa ki daal described by you very beautiful

    Hello chef I have been watching all of your recipes with so much of excitement and I have also tried most of your recipes and it came out to be amazing like the Paneer Tikka recipe Misal Pav recipe also the Pav Bhaji recipe I am from Nagpur Maharashtra and the way you explain the recipe of Saoji mutton was just so accurate I am also Saoji and in the same way at my home also the mutton is prepared.

    Wow now I know why my dal makhni didn't taste as well as a proper dal makhni! There was no onion in this!! I would love to make this for my family and see their happy faces!! The best part about YFL is that you tell the industry secrets of great cooking which many other chefs forget to mention (maybe they think we already do, but we dont Do) One of my favourite things I learned from YFL was how long to cook rice before draining it for the purpose of Biryani. And many more tricks and tips since then I have always been asked how my rice is so fluffy and well seasoned every. Thanks for telling us the secrets. Appreciate it so much...

    Hi , I am an avid follower of your recipes, I like how easily you teach even complex techniques and brings the best flavours of a recipe. I personally trust Milton products and at our home we have been using Milton products from my childhood until now from thermo flasks to casseroles. Milton never disappoint. If I get a chance to get this giveaway i will prepare paneer capsicum without onion garlic for my parents. In all of your recipes I have made many but butter chicken ,chicken tikka biryani and dahi bhalla is my favourite I would love to prepare those on Milton but I would first make kadha parsad in Milton

My kids normally avoid Dal however when it comes to the dal makhani with YFL style; they eat 2 full bowls of Dal Makhani & it motivates me to cook this recipe for them.

    Hello Chef Sujot.... the Milton ProCook granito frying pan is perfect to cook Undhiyu.... winter is here and all the necessary vegetables are available in the market. such cookware are perfect to cook Undhiyu with minimum oil. Normally undhiyu requires generous amount of Oil. five layers coating in Milton Procook non stick pan can help to make it more healthier.

    Hey YFL! If I get this Milton ProCook’s Granito Frypan then I will first cook Butter Chicken in this pan. Being a foodie, that's one of the dishes that is always on my mind and I also enjoy cooking. Considering the frypan is non-stick, I will not have to worry about the chicken sticking to the pan. Butter chicken is a one-pan recipe and would use all the goodness that the Granito Frypan has to offer! :)

    I am a malayalee who returned from Delhi, one thing I missed was Dal Makhani.Tried in various restaurants but was not getting Delhi wala taste. For sure I will make Dal Makhani .

    loved the dal makhani recipe...and I love your food series..the way you elaborate every recipe it seems soo easy though it might be tough If I had to make it😅..
    I would love to cook dosa on the pan.. because I struggl alot while cooking chilla and dosa on my pan😢

    Hi Chef, I've been watching and following #YFL for many years now. I really love the way you simplify recipes for us. I especially liked your recipe of the Kaala mutton and when I made it everybody was just licking their fingers. If I'm lucky enough to get this #MILTON PRO COOK GRANITO cookware, KAALA MUTTON will be the 1st recipe I'll be making using this cookware.     I don’t think so you need to ask to follow you and like your videos as once anyone who watches your video is gonna be your dedicated follower.
    Infact even my son who doesn’t cook at all is in 12 th grade busy with his jee prep does watch your video to relax and as well as to order new food delicacies to be made by me., and I’m sure when he does cook later in life it will not be an alien thing for him.
    You make cooking pleasurable and easy to try.
    Well as for the competition to get this gift of Milton procook series I will definitely try Gujarati winter food which I love making and very soon I will get the chance of making it….AADADIYA.
