  • Step by Step Procedure to Refine Gold from a mixture of metals. Learn how to Refine Gold when there is a high amount of Alloy.
    In this video, I am going to show you the full process of gold refining. It takes 2 hours to complete the whole process for gold refining then later to extract silver used during the refining process takes another 12 hours to get back into metal form. Follow the video to get the same results and do check the purity of gold in the gold testing machine.
    Procedure to Refine Gold
    1. Melt pure silver twice or more than twice the weight of the alloy
    2. Make the alloy as thin as possible in the press rolling machine [ If the thickness is less then it would take less time to eliminate all other metal except gold ]
    3. Fold the alloy and put it into a volumetric flask or any flask
    4. Use Nitric Axid to start the reaction between alloy and the acid
    5. Supply uniform and low external heat at the bottom of the flask
    6. When the reaction starts it produces red smoke so wait till it produces white smoke
    7. White smoke represents the end of the chemical reaction inside the flask
    8. Pour all the byproducts created in the flask into a half-filled water bucket because it contains all the silver
    9. Rinse the flask several times with water
    10. Just to be sure add nitric acid once again and left it on the flame for few minutes
    11. After the reaction is completed rinse the gold several times to eliminate acid
    12. Collect all the gold in a thin paper then melt it
    13. Use Borax it will help in melting
    14. 24K Gold has been Recovered

    1. Wear shoes if you're pouring hot metal
    2. Wear gloves if you're dealing with corrosive acids such as nitric acid
    3. Get a fume hood, NEVER breathe these fumes
    4. To remove the borax residue from the ingot you can soak it in some diluted sulfuric acid rather than lose material
    5. You can carefully use hydrochloric acid and nitric acid to go aqua regia and refine this gold to 99.9% fine, use some copper to retrieve the silver back
    I'm not saying this to criticize, as I'm surely not an expert. I'm only saying this because if you have a camera to shoot this video and a machine that checks for purity then you are surely able to take care of your health first and get a fume hood, gloves and shoes for your own safety this is more important than making a video.
    Overall, loved the shiny gold. Cheers mate! 🍻

    Great job sir👏 how many times do you have to boil it in the Nitric Acid?

    • @Baronstone
      @Baronstone Před 2 lety +1

      He should have started by pouring that gold and silver mix into a bar, then turning that into a long thin ribbon so that the Nitric acid could more easily get to the silver and tin that is in the mix. A process that most refiners on CZcams elect to skip because they brute force it with acid. Then again very few people do, but it makes removing the metals you don't want so much easier. All it costs is a little time to make that metal ribbon and then cut and twist the strips so that they don't lay flat on the bottom of the container. It makes the process cheaper because it consumes less acid and the process is actually faster once you start using acids because the metal ribbon can be very thin and easy for the acids to react with.

      @Alsacien Před 11 měsíci +1

      Adding the silver is called inquartation, it's a necessary process to allow the nitric acid to be able to get all the copper, silver, etc..., out of the gold alloy. The copper, silver, etc..., are then removed with the nitric acid. This liquid isn't discarded, it goes into a large bucket and when you put pieces of copper inside of the bucket, the silver cements out of the liquid in a fine grey powder. You are then left with a powder of silver and liquid that contains mostly copper. The silver powder can be melted into silver shot that will need to be refined some more. You then put pieces of iron in the rest of the liquid and then copper will cement out of the liquid, turning into a red powder at the bottom of the bucket. Most people discard this copper because it isn't worth much.

      It's called inquarting. Gold will not dissolve in nitric acid. You have to reduce the gold to purify. You could use copper but there's more silver in karat gold already.

    Where do you think the tin came from? The 0.24% in the end spectroscopy? Could it be from microchips?

      Alloy used by him is bronze, bronze is combination of copper & tin, so only in gold purity testing machine he got 0.22% tin in that gold..
