    Very interesting! They make me think of Zebras, who are wild - and unlike horses, they don’t take well to bit and bridle. But if you respect their nature, the Guinea fowl will cohabitate with you. And their finely spotted feather pattern is quite lovely, too!

    I live in the Midwest and it gets extremely cold, snowy and icy in our winters. My Mom lived in a condo complex which ironically had a pet Guinea Fowl that no one knows where it came from, it just appeared! My family grew to love that bird. Everything that you noted about the Guinea Fowl personally is on point! I have and adult disabled brother that would feed it un-popped popcorn kernels which it loved! Everyday at 5:00pm she would come to the porch and proclaim her hunger time. Eventually we noticed that she didn’t come to eat for about a week. Soon I discovered her carcass outside the gate. My family and I was soooo sad! She was part of our family. 😭😭😭😭

They are very wicked in the yard to protect and stick together! They are watchmen! It's a lot about them. I grow up with them! The eggs are small and could be colored too and hard shell! They don't mess with the other chicken 🐥

    Mmm.. I've been reading some of the reactions and I must admit that the Brother is correct in his observations This has confirmed my theory that it is Humanity that has moved away from Naturality. Even the natural birds and animals have common habits and behaviour that play out for the Greater Good. When we People return to Nature, the animals will be waiting for us (NOT necessarily to be eaten tho... lol,)
    I think you have made an important Breakthrough in domesticating and understanding the Guinea FOWL tho.
    so UP!! X

    They are actually very large birds significantly larger than chickens but smaller than turkeys when fully grown. These ones are still young birds. I may be helpful make more feeding troughs and bigger chicken coop because guinea fowl numbers so much and they are all likely to grow into a size that a smaller turkey is. So better to plan ahead.

    • @DIYHOUSEANDFARM
      @DIYHOUSEANDFARM  Před rokem +1

      They don’t grow that big because they are sold seasonally. They do not hold them that long because the meat will become extremely tough. I’ve never seen a full size Guinea here.

    • @DIYHOUSEANDFARM
      @DIYHOUSEANDFARM  Před rokem

      They have feeding troughs inside the coop. They are eating the chickens foods and are being extra when they leave out. Also it’s just good filming. Remember everything isn’t as it seem. 😎

    • @proyouservicesltd3652
      @proyouservicesltd3652 Před rokem

      @@DIYHOUSEANDFARM You know Africans don't mind tough meat, there may be other reasons they are sold when young. in Nigeria I had walked past a couple of fully grown ones just walking around a neighbourhood they almost the size of turkey maybe about 80% as big as a turkey..
      They were pretty chill, did seem afraid of any stranger. Maybe their adults are mores domesticated and less untrusting of strange humans.

    Can you cut guniea fowl wings to prevent them from flying,

    • @DIYHOUSEANDFARM
      @DIYHOUSEANDFARM  Před 7 měsíci +1

      If you cut the wings, the predators will catch them. Guniea need to have their feathers to fly away from harm. If you feed them from hatchlings, they will always return back to you. Best to have bigger land to pasture feed once they reach about 3 months. They produce more eggs when they are free to fly.
