    Thanks for the video. I went through dozens of Harley forums just trying to figure out where the fuses were located. They all said they were in that little panel behind the battery, but didn't explain that you had to actually pull out that set of wires to get to them, so I was completely stumped. Thanks again for taking the time to upload this walkthrough.

    Thank you very much for the video. Got on my Sportster today, 08.30.2014, stopped for gas and had a blue light come on. When I arrived at my destination. There wasn't running lights etc. Without my repair manual, which would have been incorrect. Finding the fuses would have been difficult. I am so very happy you posted this video. Thank you again.

    You don't need to unscrew the cover from the unit. Just pull on the cover and hey presto. You can get to fuses at the roadside without a screwdriver

    I'm glad I found this video. I was trying to decide where I should wire in a switch so I can shut the lights off in case the alternator fails on my 2002 1200 custom. The wires can easily hook up by the fuse. Now I can add a toggle switch somewhere. I also am not impressed with a lot of things on this scooter and find that my 1973 Sportster is much easier and simpler to work on. None of this damn electronic and pollution junk on that bike. The early Harley's use Chevrolet points that you still can buy anywhere. Even my 1979 Superglde is easier to maintain. It has electronic ignition but I have always had a points conversion in my saddle bag so it can be fixed anywhere. 103,000 miles and still going. Good luck with the new Harley's with damn fuel injection trying to get 37 years of use before parts go obsolete. Good video!!!!,,

      The same goes for vehicles with all the electronic computerized bull shit. go back to hi energy ignitions. in bikes also.

    • @bottmar1
      @bottmar1 Před 2 lety

      @kenny lavay. I'm glad that someone else besides me knows the benefit of simpler is better. So many gullibles think that computerized fool infection is better forgetting that fixing them is much harder and costly.

Might be time to preplace the starter,but will change out the $20.00 coil first and go through the fuses.-thanks very much,Joe in Middletown,De.-

    My fuses are behind the Battery cover on the right end facing you. You don't take anything out except the fuse and it has six. The one on the top is the turn, horn and brake. This is a 2006 883c. Also there is a 30 amp in a separate holder that hangs on a post to the left with2 wires coming out. Slide to the right and pull out to remove it off the post and squeeze the plastic locks together to remove the cover and you will see the 30 amp fuse. I believe this is the main fuse.

    sporster has modular one piece engine and trans.countershaft gear is on the right side.so the design does not share any full size harley parts.the clutch adjustment is on handle bars like every bike, the inside is a lock screw and shouldnt touch after istall. fuse puller tool and spares are in snap off fuse box.you didnt need to remove the cover and the battery location is stock.the fact that you trouble finding fuses on a bike tells alot.fuses are always near source of power there for not leaving leads live.
