    thanks for the video, my 2013 sportster would not start, or click, after much headaches, and help from the dealer, the problem was the key fob battery, i did not know it wouldn't start if fob battery was dead, hopes this helps before you start replacing relays etc, good luck people ps i didn't know the fob had a battery, rob san diego

    I've seen many different videos on many different topics from building projects, to repairing weed trimmers, to auto repair videos, but Rocco this was the BEST video I have seen yet---from the standpoints of lighting, camera positioning (and tripod mounting), to clarity of voice, and instructional information. Appreciate the video on how to adjust the clutch. I had always just adjusted the cable for FreePlay didn’t realize I was supposed to adjust it at the clutch as well as cable adjustment. Took the derby cover off today and pull the spring and nut out. Had to turn the adjuster screw counter clockwise 1 and 1/2 turns before clutch pack was snug. Put it all back together seems to work the same as it did before no issue with clutch. Does not creep in gear at a light and it does not slip. Bike now has 41,400 km on it.(25,254 miles) My question is am I gonna soon be looking at a clutch?

    Best video. How do you know if the 15 Amp fuse is good or bad? Same with the starter relay, just how do you know it’s bad? The reason is if I have to guess then I need to buy and I just don’t know how to check them. My 2013 custom 1200 right now makes the sound when key is turned and switch is put to ON position , 3 year old battery shows 12.95V on the voltmeter but just would not start. It was always hooked to the tender which showed green before I removed and today (09/16) was the first time I tried to start this year but wasn’t able to. Please advise.

      @TwoWheelRocco  Před 3 lety

      For the 15 amp fuse you can remove and inspect, if you look close at the filament in the fuse you will see it's bad. It will show a burnt spot in the fuse. Now what is your bike doing or not doing does the starter work or it's not starting? Thank you for your Sub. Ride Safe and have a great day.

      Bad connection on battery recheck...Is it an aftermarket battery and did you use the brass extensions to mount the leads squarely and flush? It's a must. It Is a power supply issue it's clicking because it don't have enough power to operate starter. I believe a three year old battery it's time for a new one cranking amps not there. this was working with this set up and now it is not, your battery CCA?? it could be green on your triple charger but it's bad. Played around with ignition fuse and exchanged with next 15 A fuse although no new ignition fuse was put. I don’t know what else to do. It starts up, cranks but won’t start. The battery is an AGM top of the line Yuasa which is $160 right now and installed in 2017. I never allow it to drop and always on tender. Is this a solenoid issue now?

    Yes sir I am so grateful for you taking the time to share these "how to" videos, I am presently trying to get a 1994 Sportster back on the road again. I just purchased it and know nothing about the history of it, so I'm slowly replacing items...using your videos as a pathway to learning how to do it by myself. I do have a question concerning the starter... I just installed a brand new battery with the same specs as the OEM battery. It's fully charged, but when I hit the start button it only turns over a half to one revolution and then starts clicking as though the battery is dead. Could you please give me some advice on what I need to check? Do you possibly have a video on how to check/repair this issue? I do not own a repair manual yet, I'm living on a fixed income and unfortunately I cannot afford to get a manual until around November...
    Im not a mechanic, but I have been quite blessed in figuring things out....but I'm lost on this one.

    Hey Rocco. I have a 2009 sportster 1200 low. When it's been running a bit, the solenoid engages when the clutch is engaged or in neutral. I already replaced the on/off and crank switch. Could the contacts be shorting in the solenoid? Any suggestions would help.

      Happy to help. Run power directly from the battery to the positive wire on the starter and that should kick it off and that would be bypassing the relay and everything. Take a close look at the starter. you'll see a rubber boot covers it power. jumper cable from battery positive right to their will kick it right off. Hope that helps. Happy to help The first thing I would do is change the bulbs and then take a look at your rear under the fender if the wire is scraping against the tire, causing you a problem. To test it just swap butbs from right to left side and see what you got because you know the other one was working. Thank you for watching and all your support Bobby. Any questions just ask. • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  Před 10 měsíci

      You'll have to test the wires I would get a manual and you will see the wire harness is, right under your seat, unplugged, test, unplugged, test and see what you got see if you got power coming from the switch you know you do that see if you put test power to the rear wiring, going back to the light and the direction and that's how I would try to take it out the process of elimination get the electrical manual and take a look at it. It's not that hard. Let us know how it works out not an easy problem either.

    Hi Rocco! I need your insight. 2001 xlh1200 has been running fine. I go to start it yesterday and I turn the key on, headlight turns on, turn the run button on, and I get a click, (sounded like it came from the 30 amp circuit breaker), and everything goes dark. I followed your video: Checked the battery 13.04v and made sure connections were tight; checked the four 15 amp fuses and replaced them just to be sure; removed the starter relay and replaced it with a brand new one because they are not expensive; I also replaced the 30 amp circuit breaker and checked the continuity and both terminals had juice. I then turned on the key to "Ignition", the headlight came on; I pushed the switch on the handlebar to "run". I then hit the starter button, got a click and evrything went dark again. Just to be sure, I ordered a new ignition switch and I will install that this weekend. Am I missing something? Could a bad solenoid be the culprit? Any help would be appreciated. :)

      Happy to help. I've seen this before check the cable running to your starter. It will look fine but it's separate internally because it's old and you don't have a good connection now. It looks good if you were to turn your key, hit your star button and wiggle that cable on the top of your starter and see if it makes a difference you might see it kick right off real strong. the cable to starter is failing. Break inside you don't see it. EBay very reasonable for those cables.Thank you for watching all your support Luke. Let us know how it works out. Ride safe and have a great day.

      Hi Rocco, @@TwoWheelRocco I followed your advice and pulled the battery and the cradle for it out and pulled out both the hot and the ground battery cables; the ground cable was seriously corroded. I replaced both cables put the battery in and connected the cables and the motor started right up! Runs just like it should.
      I have another wiring question though; There is a Badlands turn signal load equalizer under the seat, and there is a hot wire that is attached to the positive terminal on the battery. When I started the sportster today, I see that the headlight and the turn signals stayed on. I'm thinking that is because the turn signal is directly wired to the battery. So my question is, where should the hot wire from the Badlands turn signal module be wired to? There are incandescent turn signal lights so can I just remove the Badlands module?
      Thanks again for all your help! :)

    • @TwoWheelRocco
      @TwoWheelRocco  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I'm happy all worked out. But it sounds like that module is bad. Your lights and directional shouldn't be lit up on start up so wherever you get positive it's gonna activate it when you turn the key so somethings wrong with that module.@@lukealvarez5240
